Fatburger launching 40 locations across Florida

Longtime iconic fast food chain Fatburger is launching 40 new Florida-based restaurants over the next 10 years. The chain's parent company FAT Brands Inc. completed a development deal with franchisee Whole Factor Inc. to open the locations, with at least one being in Jacksonville. The franchisee's Fatburger empire in the Sunshine State has been growing since 2021 after it completed a deal to open 14 restaurants in the Orlando and Tampa areas. Restaurants have already opened in Riverview and Celebration, a suburb close to Walt Disney World . Others slated to open through 2026 are in Orlando, Orange Park, and Rockledge. 'Two years ago, Fatburger made its return to the state of Florida after a 20-year absence, and we are not looking back,' said Taylor Wiederhorn, Co-CEO and chief development officer at Fatburger. 'Our Riverview and Celebration locations have exceeded expectations with an incredible fanbase that loves our cooked-to-order burgers, fries, and hand-scooped milkshakes.' Founded in 1947, the California-based restaurant chain operates over 200 restaurants worldwide, and in 16 states across the US. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Nicki Minaj have been Fatburger customers despite Whataburger, In-N-Out and Five Guys' high rankings on a list of the top burger chains in the US . The new deal comes after the chain's parent company suffered a 6.5 percent revenue decline during the first quarter of this year. Other major burger chains are also expanding. Whataburger currently has over 1,100 restaurants nationwide and recently opened its first North Carolina location. In-N-Out Burger is currently the nation's top burger chain owned by its founder's granddaughter Lynsi Snyder. The cult favorite chain typically brings in around $2 billion in annual revenue from over 400 restaurants, primarily in the western US. With its popularity on the rise, the chain that was once praised by late food expert Anthony Bourdain is planning to open at least seven restaurants in four states this year.

Whataburger currently has over 1,100 restaurants nationwide and recently opened its first North Carolina location. Following the chain's recruitment of former McDonald's executive Todd Ewen to serve as its senior vice president, the chain is on track to continue its rapid US expansion. The Texas-based restaurant's sales also jumped 9.4 percent this year, and it's named Lainey Wilson this year's brand ambassador. While Fatburger is facing tough competition, some burger chains have shown a potential to crash and burn. Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries sparked fears of mass closures after filing for bankruptcy protection last year. BurgerFi also shuttered restaurants after a bankruptcy filing last September. Jack in the Box is planning to close up to 200 restaurants between 2025 and 2026 to improve its financial performance. However, unlike the others, the chain has shown no signs of exploring bankruptcy possibilities. Burger chain EVOS also abruptly closed all restaurants in April after 31 years and has not revealed the reason behind the shutdown.

Culver City Is Losing a Hand-Pulled Noodle Destination

Bang Bang Noodles, a Chinese hand-pulled noodle shop, is closing its Culver location in the Citizen Public Market at the end of June. The restaurant, which specializes in Xi'an-style biang-biang mian, announced the closure in an Instagram post on June 22. Bang Bang's Downtown LA location will remain open. Bang Bang Noodles was founded as a pop-up in early 2020 by chef Robert Lee, who had previously worked at restaurants in San Sebastian, New York City, and Los Angeles. In 2023, Lee opened the first permanent location for Bang Bang Noodles at Citizen Public Market, bringing his signature tingly cumin lamb noodles tossed in chile oil to the neighborhood. In the years since opening, the menu has expanded beyond just the cumin lamb noodles to include Xi'an tomato noodles and Szechuan garlic noodles. After Bang Bang Noodles closes in Culver, those looking for a great bowl of hand-pulled noodles should try Noodle Art in the Original Farmers Market or LAN Noodle, which operates locations in West Hollywood and the San Gabriel Valley. Shiku, a homestyle Korean stand in Grand Central Market from the team behind Baroo, is donating its proceeds from June to August to non-profits that support immigrants in Los Angeles. 50 percent of profits from this summer will be donated to the Immigrant Defenders Law Center, National Day Laborer Organizing Network, and the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA). Frogtown Mexican seafood destination Loreto is popping up at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel for the summer. The pop-up will take over the terrace at Calabra between June 20 and September 1. Expect crudos, ceviches, and seafood-topped tostadas, paired with mezcalitas, and more. Rihanna was spotted out and about in Los Angeles sporting a Saint Laurent dress and a Schiaparelli gym bag, paired with the iconic blue and yellow Fatburger soda cup. Billionaire Rihanna reveals surprisingly budget pregnancy craving… while ex Chris Brown returns to court

Rihanna may be worth over $1.4 billion, but she's not too rich for a fast food fix. The 37-year-old superstar, currently expecting her third child with A$AP Rocky, was spotted indulging a budget-friendly craving at the iconic Southern California burger chain Fatburger on Friday. Dressed in a ruffled light brown summer dress with a baseball cap and Puma sneakers, the Fenty Beauty mogul looked runway-ready—even with a fast food drink in hand. Pregnancy craving or not, she still pulled off her signature style with ease. Rihanna appeared in high spirits during the outing, despite still mourning the loss of her father Ronald Fenty, who tragically passed away in May at age 70. Meanwhile, her ex Chris Brown was back in court—this time in the UK—where he pleaded not guilty to an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub. Appearing at Southwark Crown Court this morning, 36-year-old singer pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged assault on music producer Abraham Diaw in February 2023. Brown—who previously made headlines in 2009 for violently assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna, a case that led to a felony conviction and lasting public backlash—is now accused of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm with intent. Prosecutors allege that Brown, alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, 38—a rapper and producer from Dallas—carried out the attack at the Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair, on February 19, 2023. Both men face charges of causing grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. In addition, Brown is facing a separate charge for possession of an offensive weapon. Meanwhile, Rihanna has not yet publicly addressed the death of her father. Previously, Rihanna and her father were estranged before they eventually reconciled in recent years. In 2019, she sued her dad and claimed he capitalized on her business empire. In her filing, she alleged that his Fenty Management talent firm profited off of her Fenty Beauty line and other trademarked eponymous ventures. Two years later, she filed to dismiss the lawsuit and had seemingly mended her relationship with him. In 2023, when Rihanna and Rocky were expecting their second child together, Fenty gushed over his daughter and shared his excitement of becoming a grandfather to another one of their babies. Fenty shared three children with his ex-wife Braithwaite including Rihanna, Rajad and Rorrey. Around the time Rihanna's career in music was taking off in 2002, her parents split up. In addition to Rihanna, Fenty is survived by his grandchildren including Rihanna and Rocky's sons RZA, two, Riot Rose, 18 months, and their baby on the way. He is also survived by his other children Rajad, Rorrey as well as Kandy, Samantha, Jamie and multiple grandchildren. Last month, Rihanna insisted her new album won't be delayed too much by her pregnancy. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the Umbrella hitmaker was asked if the album - which has been dubbed 'R9' - will be 'put on pause even longer'. She insisted: 'No, maybe a couple of videos.'
