Texas A&M's last two basketball transfer additions have made their way to College Station
Texas A&M's 2025 basketball roster has all but arrived on campus, as all 13 players have begun to take part in the program's workouts, led by new head coach Bucky McMillan and his veteran staff. Last weekend, Spanish sharpshooter Rubén Domínguez made his way to College Station, leaving former Texas Tech center Federiko Federiko and USC transfer forward Rashuan Agee as the only players yet to arrive. We can now check both players off said list, as Agee recently made his way to campus and reportedly completed his first practice alongside Domínguez. At the same time, Federiko is the latest arrival and will begin workouts this week. This is significant news for a roster that needs to develop chemistry this summer to be ready for the 2025 season, which is a little over three months away. With the news that transfer guard Pop Isaacs has been cleared for non-contact work this week, the roster is truly coming together. Being in the same space not only allows for gaining a rhythm on the court but also for building bonds in the locker room that will pay dividends early in the season. While Isaccs and Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako look like the potential scoring leaders this coming season, Federiko could earn the starting center role to provide elite rebounding/paint defense coupled with a high field goal percentage, paired with Agee's likely rotational role as another scoring option off the bench after shooting 55% from the field and nearly 40% from 3-point range with the Trojans last season. Auburn transfer portal target commits to Texas A&M
Auburn transfer portal target commits to Texas A&M Auburn target Federiko Federiko committed to Texas A&M earlier this week, giving Aggies first-year head coach Bucky McMillan an early victory over Bruce Pearl's Auburn Tigers. Pearl and his staff had zeroed in on the 6-foot-11 big man before McMillan secured his commitment. After starting nearly 80% of the games he played in as a Pitt Panther from 2022-2024, Federiko occupied a key bench role for the Texas Tech Red Raiders last season. The junior averaged 19 minutes per game over 35 contests, averaging 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds over the course of a loaded BIG 12 schedule. Although Federiko doesn't bring much of an offensive game, the Helsinki, Finland native has averaged over a block per contest during his three-year collegiate career. His ability to protect the rim was likely what made Federiko an inticing prospect in the portal for the Tigers, especially considering the Bruce Pearl's squad is set to lose the shot-blocking duo Johni Broome and Dylan Cardwell. Federiko now heads to College Station where head coach Bucky McMillan may opt to use him in a role similar to that of former Samford big man Achor Achor. With Achor as the best scoring and shot blocking option for McMillan's Bulldogs two seasons ago, Samford claimed a Southern Conference Championship before narrowly missing out on an NCAA Tournament upset of Kansas in the Round of 64. Auburn will now set its sites on another front court option in the portal to pair with freshman Sebastian Williams-Adams and transfers KeShawn Murphy (Mississippi State) and Emeka Opurum (Butler Community College). UCF combo forward Keyshawn Hall is also a candidate to join the front court rotation after Chad Baker-Mazara left the Plains on a big jet plane to California. Texas A&M lands a commitment from Texas Tech transfer forward
Texas A&M lands a commitment from Texas Tech transfer forward Texas A&M head basketball coach Bucky McMillan remains red hot on the recruiting trail, earning his ninth commitment from the transfer portal in former Texas Tech big man Federiko Federiko. This comes just a few days after locking up NC State guard Marcus Hill and Texas forward Jamie Vinson earlier this week. Federiko, a towering 6-foot, 11-inch forward, was spotted with coach McMillan and his staff during Tuesday's game. His defensive abilities, including an average of 1.5 blocks per game, could bolster the Aggie defense. His offensive efficiency, an impressive 73% shooting rate, pairs well with McMillan's 3-point-heavy system, emphasizing offensive rebounds and second-chance points. With an eye for veteran players and efficient scorers, McMillan is rapidly shaping the program into an exciting team. Federiko's commitment is further proof of coach McMillan's ability to secure talent during campus visits and this bodes well for the Aggies in the future. With his 2025 roster all but complete, expect more news down the stretch. Auburn showing interest in Texas Tech center Federiko Federiko
Auburn showing interest in Texas Tech center Federiko Federiko Could Federiko reunite with ex-teammate Kevin Overton in Auburn? Auburn is looking to add depth to its center position and is interested in adding a big man with Power Five experience. According to Joe Tipton of On3, Auburn joins a healthy list of top programs showing interest in Federiko Federiko, a 6-11 center from Texas Tech. Bruce Pearl and his staff are in a nine-team race for Federiko's services, joining several SEC programs, including Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Federiko started 53-of-68 games played at Pittsburgh as a freshman and sophomore, where he averaged 5.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while connecting on 65% of his field goal attempts. His minutes and starts dipped a bit when transferred to Texas Tech for the 2024-25 season, but he still managed to be productive for the Red Raiders. He appeared in 38 games for Texas Tech last season, making six starts. In 19.1 minutes of action per game, Federiko scored 5.4 points and grabbed 4.8 rebounds. His overall field goal percentage increased to 74%, and he experienced a slight bump in free throw success from 53% to 57%. Auburn has landed JUCO center Emeka Opurum from Butler Community College, but is looking to continue building depth as its Final Four roster is close to depleted. Dylan Cardwell departs after spending five seasons with the program, where he started every game at the center position. Outside of Opurum, Pearl has added four transfers: forward Keyshawn Hall (UCF), forward Keshawn Murphy (Mississippi State), guard Elyjah Freeman (Lincoln Memorial), and Federiko's ex-teammate in Lubbock, guard Kevin Overton. Auburn also secured the nation's top JUCO player in Abdul Bashir, who will also earn a place within the Tigers' backcourt. The transfer portal window will close on April 22, but expect Auburn to make several more additions in an effort to repeat last season's Final Four success.
