The show must go on: Ub Huishan blow 3x3 opposition away indoors as Wipha howls outside
Even the No 10 hurricane signal brought by Typhoon Wipha could not stop the action at Fiba 3x3 World Tour Hong Kong on Sunday, and almost as inevitable as the storm's approach was Ub Huishan's convincing 21-14 victory over Hangzhou. The world No 1 team from Serbia have now won three straight masters tours, after also winning in Marseille and Vienna, in May and June, respectively. On Saturday, the organisers told the Post the final day of the event at the Convention and Exhibition Centre would continue as scheduled given the 'minimum' impact any extreme weather might have on the two-day event. And while the city's famous book fair and sports expo were halted, player safety was not deemed an issue after this year's event was moved indoors, from Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. The decision was helped by the fact that visiting teams and staff were all staying at a hotel connected to the convention centre. When asked by the Post about the decision to proceed with matches behind closed doors, a Fiba spokesman said 'the safety and well-being of all athletes, staff, and personnel remain our top priority.' 35th Hong Kong Book Fair serves up food culture, targets 1 million visitors
The organisers of Hong Kong's annual book fair have said they hope the number of visitors this year will surpass 1 million and break the record set by the previous event, with the latest iteration set to focus on food culture. The 35th Hong Kong Book Fair, which is running under the theme of 'Food Culture Feature Living', will be held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai between July 16 and 22. The venue will also host three other events at the same time, with all four expected to bring in more than 770 exhibitors. The other three events include the Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, which are being organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the same group behind the book fair. The third is the Fiba 3x3 World Tour 2025. Sophia Chong Suk-fan, deputy executive director of HKTDC, said on Tuesday: 'Even though we have seen a shift in Hong Kong residents' spending patterns in recent years, we had a bustling fair last year. 'We noticed some residents chose to stay in Hong Kong for the event, and some patrons came from the north to join the fair.

Fiba 3x3 World Tour Hong Kong to be held away from Victoria Park for first time
The Fiba 3x3 basketball World Tour Hong Kong will be held away from Victoria Park for the first time this summer, the organisers said on Tuesday. Advertisement Scheduled to run from July 19 to 20, the event will move indoors to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. With Victoria Park hosting the beach volleyball at the National Games later this year, sources told the Post a move away from Causeway Bay was 'inevitable' for the 3x3 event, which has been held annually in Hong Kong since 2022. Victoria Park has been its usual venue and was also the site for the qualifying tournament in April last year for the Paris Olympics. 'We usually host the event in November, but Hong Kong co-hosting the National Games [with Guangdong and Macau] around that time this year meant the schedule was out of the question this time,' the source said.
