Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams returns for a third series
The critically acclaimed, Bafta nominated and RTS award winning Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams is back for a third series with sporting legend Freddie Flintoff taking on an even tougher challenge. Determined to prove that his previous success wasn't a one off, having created a cricket team like no other in his hometown of Preston and taken them on a life changing tour to India, he's now set his sights on a much more ambitious plan. Freddie wants to supersize the project right across the North West of England: He'll attempt to form boys teams in Manchester and Liverpool while also attempting to create his first ever girls team in Blackpool at a club without any youth teams. Can he prove his blueprint for a league of dreams can work against a backdrop of a lack of funding, uninspired teens and derelict cricket clubs? Joining Freddie in an extended coaching team is former Lancashire fast bowler Kyle Hogg and new recruit, current England Women's international player Kate Cross. Clare Sillery, Head of Commissioning BBC Documentaries says 'Freddie Flintoff has proved himself an exceptional role model. To see his passion for and commitment to cricket shine through and the transformational impact it has had on the lives of the lads from Preston playing on his team has been incredible to witness. I'm so pleased that he is back for another series building on the success of the last one.' Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams was commissioned for BBC One and iPlayer by Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning, Documentaries. The series is produced by South Shore, and the Executive Producers are Andrew Mackenzie and Naomi Templeton. The BBC Commissioning Editor is Fran Baker. Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams star, 18, 'lost control' before fatal crash
An inquest heard that 18-year-old Umar Kamani, who appeared in Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams, died after losing control of his car while speeding at nearly 80mph on a bend A teenager who appeared on Freddie Flintoff 's Field Of Dreams was driving at over 80mph on a 30mph road when he was killed, an inquest has heard. Umar Mahmood, 18, suffered serious injuries when the car he was in, an Audi A3, left the road and collided with trees in Preston on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He later died in hospital. His death was confirmed by his school's Principal, Mr M Eastham. Another pupil at the school, 16-year-old Adam Bodi, also died in the tragedy. An inquest has now heard that Mahmood's Audi A3 Sport hit a kerb four times before ploughing into two trees and overturning on its side. Bodi, 16, died when he was catapulted into and over the front seat forcing the driver into the dashboard. The teen was not wearing a seatbelt while sitting in the car. Crash data later revealed a different picture as Lancashire Police collision investigator PC Anthony Grey told the court airbag sensors showed the Audi had hit over 80mph just before impact, striking the first tree at 78.9mph. The crash happened on Chain Caul Way in Preston, on a mild S-bend, on the night of September 10, 2024. PC Grey confirmed the car had no mechanical faults. Two passers-by, Andrew Hood and Harry Worthington, were first on the scene and described seeing a 'dark shape' in the road which was the vehicle's engine. Smelling fuel, they tried to pull the teenagers from the wreck, fearing the Audi might explode. Adam died in hospital hours later, while Umar passed away two days after the crash. Coroner Kate Bissett concluded both died from traumatic brain and lung injuries caused by a road traffic collision, calling the loss 'a tragedy that the families will do well to ever recover from". Umar had previously appeared on Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams BBC show. A statement read at the time: "We are again saddened as a school to hear the news Umar, who was in the same accident as Adam, and who left Priory two years ago, has also passed away. Another boy, 17, suffered serious injuries in the crash and is in a stable condition in hospital. "Umar was a bright, studious and well-loved member of our school community. He had a passion for Geography as well as his cricket, playing for Priory's school team and appearing in the BBC One documentary Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams. "It was a privilege for us here at Priory to know Umar. He was a young man who was always considerate to those around him and who showed ambition and kindness in all that he did. "It is of course with great sadness we hear this news. We give our sincere condolences to all of Umar's family and friends on behalf of the school, at what will be a very difficult time. They too, are in our thoughts and prayers today." The school added of Adam: "Adam was an amazing pupil, of whom we have nothing but fantastic memories. He was popular, bright, confident and had a fantastic sense of humour alongside being a first-class footballer, who had been part of our football team here at Priory for five years. "We know that the rest of his year group will be equally upset at losing one of their own. Adam was a fantastic young man, and he, his family and friends are very much in our thoughts and prayers." The car crash comes after Flintoff's own car crash in December 2022 which nearly claimed his life. The star had been driving an open-topped three-wheeled Morgan Super 3 at high speed when it flipped over. He later said of the accident: "Week and a half after my accident. Genuinely should not be here after what happened. "This is going to be a long road back and I have only just started and I am struggling already. I need help. I really am not the best at asking for it. I need to stop crying every two minutes. "I thought I could just shake it off. I wanted to shake it off and say 'here I am, I'm alright'. But it's not been a case of that, it's been a lot harder than I thought. As much as I wanted to go out and do things, I have just not been able to."

Freddie Flintoff shares major update on hit series Field of Dreams
FREDDIE Flintoff has finally spilled the beans on the future of his smash-hit BBC series Field of Dreams. The cricket champ-turned-presenter, 47, first launched the heartwarming show back in 2022, building a team of young hopefuls from his hometown of Preston in a bid to change lives through sport. 3 3 Fast forward two years - and two years on from his terrifying Top Gear crash - Freddie returned with Field of Dreams: On Tour, taking the same lads on an unforgettable cricket trip to India. The series struck a chord once again, even landing Freddie an RTS Award nomination, and left viewers desperate for more. Now, after months of whispers and speculation, it's looking like season three is a go - despite the BBC staying tight-lipped when reports first surfaced in April 2024. Freddie revealed he's wrapped filming on the new series, which will feature not one, but three brand-new teams: two boys' squads from Bootle and Newton Heath, and a girls' team based in Blackpool. Speaking to The Telegraph, the dad-of-four said the experience has been 'life-changing." He shared: 'All the boys are doing well. But what I didn't envisage is what I got from it. Going to India with these boys helped me so much… it's getting bigger and bigger.' He added: 'If you give kids a chance, they're all right, aren't they? Kids are good!' Producers say the new season reflects the show's mission to promote equality and expand its reach, aiming to air later in 2025 on BBC One. Fans can also expect a possible fourth season - with speculation mounting about an overseas tour for these new teams. It's shaping up to be Freddie's busiest year yet. Freddie Flintoff almost joined WWE under brilliant new name Alongside Field of Dreams, he's fronting ITV's Bullseye reboot and preparing for a Disney+ docuseries on his recovery post- Top Gear crash. And in a shock twist, Freddie also revealed he once turned down 'obscene' money to become a WWE wrestler and even got 'beaten up left, right and centre' during a trial run with a top American company. If he'd signed on the dotted line, Freddie could've joined fellow Preston lad Stu Bennett, aka WWE's Wade Barrett, in the wrestling ring. Instead, he's stuck to cricket bats over body slams - and fans are thankful for it. Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. 3
