Notre Dame's Billy Schrauth and Aamil Wagner make Outland Trophy preseason Watch List
5️⃣9️⃣7️⃣4️⃣Strong in the trenches ☘️💪Aamil Wagner and Billy Schrauth have been named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List#GoIrish☘️ It's watch list season, and Notre Dame football continues to be well-represented. The Outland Trophy, which recognizes standout interior linemen, is celebrating its 80th season and unveiled its preseason watch list on Tuesday, and Fighting Irish offensive linemen Billy Schrauth and Aamil Wagner have both made the cut. This year's preseason list includes 16 offensive tackles, 15 guards, nine centers and 10 defensive tackles. It's an impressive list of the best lineman in college football, and quite the honor to be included for the two Notre Dame stars. ND's offensive line is expected to be one of the team's many strengths as it looks to make another deep run in the College Football Playoff this season. If Schrauth and Wagner play up to the Outland standard, they'll both be in the mix for the award and others as well. The winner of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Friday, December 12. Notre Dame great Skylar Diggins continues to make WNBA history with quickest triple-double
Notre Dame great Skylar Diggins continues to make history in the WNBA, cementing her legacy within the league. After recording the first triple-double in WNBA All-Star Game history on July 19, the Seattle Storm guard hit the record books again on Monday when she recorded a triple-double in just three quarters, as the Storm defeated the Connecticut Sun 101-85. Diggins's two free throws at the end of the third quarter gave her 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 22:51 of action, the lowest minute total for a triple-double in WNBA history. She also became just the second player in Storm history to record a triple-double, joining Temeka Johnson (2014). The Fighting Irish legend is the fourth player in the league to record a triple-double this season, and it was the 46th in WNBA history. North Carolina 4-star S Marquis Bryant plans to attend Notre Dame's home game against USC
The buzz surrounding Notre Dame's recruiting efforts is only going to get louder when top recruits attend Fighting Irish games this fall. One top prospect who plans to be in attendance for the October 18 battle against USC in South Bend is Marquis Bryant, who was extended an offer by Marcus Freeman and Co. back in March on Pot of Gold Day. The Class of 2027 Rolesville (Rolesville, NC) safety is a four-star prospect and the 13th-best player nationally at his position, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder visited Notre Dame in mid-June, and he told that he expects to take in the Trojans-Irish battle. ND does have some competition, though, as Bryant also plans to be at Clemson on August 30 and Georgia on September 13. Florida State is another program he wants to visit later this year. But Bryant did say the Irish are "pretty high" on his board, so we'll see how his recruitment ultimately shakes out. Notre Dame transfer Rocco Spindler makes PFF College First Team Preseason All-Big Ten
Pro Football Focus College released its preseason First Team All-Big Ten Offense on Monday afternoon, one month before Nebraska begins the 2025 season. Right guard Rocco Spindler represents the Huskers on the list. The Notre Dame transfer joins Nebraska after spending four seasons with the Fighting Irish. He played in 40 games for Notre Dame at right guard, starting in 23 of them. Spindler got his first chance of action during his freshman season in 2021, playing in two games before redshirting. He then played in 12 games as a sophomore in 2022, before earning the starting role in 2023. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound lineman got 10 starts in 2023, helping the Fighting Irish rank second in school history in scoring and yards per play. His performance on the Notre Dame helped him become a 2023 Joe Moore Award Semifinalist. Spindler then started the final 13 games of the 2024 season, guiding Notre Dame to the College Football Playoff championship game. Before joining the Fighting Irish, Spindler emerged from Clarkson High School in Michigan with a four-star rating and ESPN tabbing him as the nation's No. 1 offensive guard. Son of Notre Dame alum Julius Jones expressed admiration for Teddy Jarrard
A Notre Dame great's son has good things to say about Fighting Irish quarterback commit Teddy Jarrard. Julius Jones Jr., son of former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones, said this about Jarrard: "Notre Dame got a dog. Glad he gets the chance to play at the next level. A great QB like him at a school makes most WR heads turn." The elder Jones played in the NFL and was a star at Notre Dame, and Jones Jr., who is a four-star wide receiver, is being recruited heavily by the Irish. Jones Jr. is the number 66 overall player and number 14 receiver in his class. What a world it would be if the commitment of Jarrard is what gets Jones Jr. to commit to Notre Dame.
