The real Danny Dyer reacts to his own lookalike competition and shares his shock at the unexpected winner as he jokes 'did you nick it?'
The real Danny Dyer was left shocked after discovering the winner of his lookalike competition on Wednesday. A host of tracksuit clad, bearded blokes flocked to London, however it was Mike from Southampton who came out on top. Despite striking less of a physical resemblance to the EastEnders star, Mike impressed with his outfit choice, sporting a white and maroon Sergio Tacchini jacket akin to those rocked by the iconic Brit in his 2005 movie The Business. And the actor, 48, was genuinely shocked to meet the winner as he asked: Did you nick it?' He then joked: 'You have got the same double chin there look'. Surrounded by a host of Danny's the star joked: 'This is like me ageing through the years.' He added: 'This is a very surreal for me and I have realised how much I don't look like Danny Dyer anymore.' Meanwhile the competition's unlikely winner Mike even admitted no one had ever told him he looked like the star. Speaking to Metro at the event he explained: 'No one's ever told me I look like Danny Dyer, but I've lived a similar sort of childhood — working-class.' It seems Mike won the contest based on his Dyer like charm as he continued: 'I'm obviously very good-looking, very charismatic, and a geezer.' Speaking after his win he confessed: 'I didn't expect to win in the slightest.' Turning to the runner up Richard, who arguably resembled Danny more physically, he joked: 'I feel like I've met Danny Dyer today.' Just weeks earlier New York hosted a similar Timothee Chalamet competition, with fans left in a frenzy when the actor and boyfriend of Kylie Jenner arrived unannounced. Flanked by bodyguards, the actor posed for photographs with his curly-haired doppelgangers - some of whom had dressed as his characters, including Willy Wonka and Dune protagonist Paul Atreides. So impressive were the day's competitors that some fans heaped their attention onto them, mistaking them for Timothee himself. Noah Wildie, 23, told it was 'insane' when the actor arrived, as hundreds of fans passionately screaming.

After hosting shows for Chanel and Fila in recent years, with Haider Ackermann at the helm, the northern English metropolis, which was the capital of the textile industry in the 19th century - it was nicknamed "Cottonopolis" because it produced half the world's cotton - is looking to reaffirm its link with fashion by relaunching Manchester Fashion Week. It is announcing its return, after a ten-year hiatus, with a new team and management, and a focus on sustainable development. The event will take place over three days from September 9 to 11, just before the "Big Four" marathon of Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Its nerve center will be Campfield, Manchester's former market halls in the new St. Johns district, which have been renovated and transformed into a hub for tech and creative start-ups. "The event will be steered by renowned industry thought leaders, including Carry Somers, the co-founder of the Fashion Revolution movement, and Safia Minney, another sustainable fashion pioneer at the helm of ethical fashion brand People Tree," said the organizers, in a statement, adding that the executive producer of this Manchester Fashion Week is Gemma Gratton, who boasts twenty years' experience in sales and project management. Manchester Fashion Week is also supported by the media platform and sustainability consultancy Eco Age. "Manchester has always been at the forefront, whether in music, manufacturing, or movements. Today, it's time to return to the forefront by preparing the future of fashion from scratch. Manchester Fashion Week is not just a celebration of style, but a cultural catalyst for people, purpose, and progress," said Gratton, who co-founded the Manchester Fashion Movement in 2019 to raise awareness of the damaging effects of clothing overproduction and launched the ethical brand The Bee Thrive. Manchester Fashion Week will welcome established brands and emerging designers, the organizers announced without detailing the program, stating that beyond the runway shows, "it will highlight heritage and future, health and wellness, tech and innovation, merging fashion with responsible innovation," during round tables, exhibitions, and interactive experiences. Manchester Fashion Week was launched in Manchester in the early 2010s, but only lasted a few editions. In parallel, another event called Northern Fashion Week was held between 2022 and 2024.
