3M Open odds, predictions: Three long shot picks for TPC Twin Cities
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. All four major championships are now behind us, so the PGA Tour schedule will hit a bit of a lull this week with the 2025 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota. Most of the Tour's top players just completed the Scottish-British Open double, so they'll take this week off to get re-adjusted to life on this side of the pond before getting ready for the 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs, which begin on Aug. 7 with the St. Jude Championship. With so much starpower on the sidelines this week, the 3M Open is up for grabs with no player sticking out as a clear favorite. Sam Burns (16/1) and Maverick McNealy (18/1) are essentially co-favorites at BetMGM, and they are the only players sitting inside 25/1 on the board. The red-hot Chris Gotterup (25/1), Wyndham Clark (25/1), and Si Woo Kim (30/1) round out the top five on the betting board. With a weak field and a relatively easy course, the 3M Open has produced plenty of long-shot winners in its history. Michael Thompson, Cameron Champ, Tony Finau, Lee Hodges, and Jhonattan Vegas are the past five champions here, which tells you everything you need to know about how this tournament will play out. 2025 3M Open picks Tony Finau (40/1, BetMGM) If Tony Finau had any form going into this tournament, he'd be the outright favorite. The Utahn arguably has the highest ceiling of any player in this field, and his course history is superb. Not only did Finau win this event in 2022, but he has posted four top-12 finishes in his last five trips to TPC Twin Cities. Finau's pedestrian form is hard to ignore, and he's making a long trip from Northern Ireland, but the price is right for a player who should be motivated to get his act together before the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Tony Finau won the 2022 3M Open. Getty Images Cam Davis (120/1, FanDuel) Players who can hit it a mile do well at the 3M Open. Finau, Champ, Vegas, and Matthew Wolff all can get down the course in a hurry, and so can Cam Davis, who has some pretty encouraging results at TPC Twin Cities. Davis is one of nine players in this field that has played in every iteration of the 3M, and he's finished 12-28-16-10-19 in the last five editions. Like Finau, Davis' form is nothing to write home about, but that's allowing us to back him at a terrific price in a tournament that is set up for him to succeed. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps Gordon Sargent (350/1, Caesars) At this time last year, Gordon Sargent was regarded as one of the hottest prospects in golf. The Alabama native was coming off a terrific junior season at Vanderbilt, where he was the low amateur at the 2024 U.S. Open (finishing T-39), and he had already earned PGA Tour status. Unfortunately, the hype surrounding Sargent stalled thanks to a poor showing in his senior year at Vanderbilt. Sargent turned pro ahead of the Canadian Open, where he missed the cut, but he's collected paychecks in his last three outings, and he posted a career-best T24 at the ISCO Championship last week. That was an alternate field event, so the competition was unimpressive, but the 3M isn't going to play that much tougher than the Isco. Tony Finau Latest Victim to Withdraw from PGA Tour's Rocket Classic
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The wave of players withdrawing from the Rocket Classic continues, even breaking through among the top names on the PGA Tour. With less than 48 hours until the event, seven players have already removed themselves from play at the Detroit Golf Club. The latest addition to this list is the toughest blow yet: Tony Finau, World No. 44 and winner of the 2022 Rocket Classic. Finau's withdrawal was confirmed by the PGA Tour Communications Twitter account. No information has been provided yet about the six-time PGA Tour winner's reasons for making this decision. Rocket Classic field update: Tony Finau WD Joseph Bramlett IN — PGA TOUR Communications (@PGATOURComms) June 24, 2025 Joseph Bramlett, World No. 232, will take Finau's place in the field. Finau was scheduled to tee off on Thursday at 12:43 p.m. Eastern Time from the 10th tee, sharing a group with Harry Hall and Aaron Wise. The Salt Lake City native tied for 66th place at last week's Travelers Championship, posting an 11-under score. He had two poor first rounds (73 and 74), appeared to recover by carding a 68 on moving day, but completely faded in the final round by carding a 76. At the end of last season, Finau underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus. The procedure was successful, but he had to skip his commitment to play in the Grant Thornton Invitational with Nelly Korda. Tony Finau of the United States plays his shot from the 14th tee during the first round of the Travelers Championship 2025 at TPC River Highlands on June 19, 2025 in Cromwell, Connecticut. Tony Finau of the United States plays his shot from the 14th tee during the first round of the Travelers Championship 2025 at TPC River Highlands on June 19, 2025 in Cromwell, the 35-year-old appears to have recovered from the injury, as he was able to start the 2025 season normally, tying for 15th in the season-opening tournament, The Sentry. To date, he has played in 16 PGA Tour events. His results have not been on par with previous seasons, though. He has only one top-10 finish and four other top-25 finishes so far this season. These results have caused him to fall to 44th in the world rankings and 51st in the FedEx Cup standings. In contrast, Finau finished in the top 25 15 times in 2024, including five top-10 finishes and his best finish was runner-up at the Houston Open. He played in 22 tournaments that season. Tony Finau, 19th in Ryder Cup points, withdraws from Rocket Classic
Tony Finau has withdrawn from the Rocket Classic. While a reason was not immediately released, Finau pulled out of the tournament at Detroit Golf Club, where he won in 2022, on Tuesday afternoon. He's the seventh player to withdraw since Saturday, a list that includes Kevin Yu, Eric Cole and Charley Hoffman. Joseph Bramlett replaced Finau in the field. The 35-year-old Finau has posted just one top-10 finish in 16 starts this season. He had made two of three major cuts with a best finish of T-19 at the PGA Championship. He was coming off a T-66 showing at the no-cut, limited-field Travelers Championship. While slipping to No. 44 in the world rankings, Finau is also currently No. 19 in U.S. Ryder Cup points. He has twice played in a Ryder Cup, though he failed to qualify for the team in 2023 in Rome. He has played in three straight Presidents Cups.

The Memorial picks, odds: Three best bets at Muirfield Village
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. The PGA Tour makes its annual stop to Muirfield Village, aka 'Jack's Place,' this week for the Memorial. Along with The Players and the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the Memorial has the feel of a tournament one tier below a major championship. That means you can expect a tough course, an elite field and a lot of good prices on the betting board. Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion, is the clear favorite to win the 2025 Memorial Tournament. He's +280 this week and in a league of his own on the oddsboard. With no Rory McIlroy in the field, there is a wide gap between Scheffler and the chasing pack. Collin Morikawa, a two-time runner-up at the Memorial and the winner of the 2020 Workday (which was held here to replace a Covid-canceled event in July of that year), and Xander Schauffele are next up at 16/1 odds, just ahead of Justin Thomas at 18/1. As with any tournament with this kind of setup, there are some tempting prices out there on some big names, but it must be said that this event has been dominated by the superstars in recent years. Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Cantlay (twice), Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland and Scheffler all have wins here since 2018, while the only real surprise in that span was Billy Horschel in 2023. However, that run of chalk ended a ridiculous three-year stretch of long-shot winners. First was Willie McGirt in 2015, then came David Lingmerth in 2016 and Jason Dufner shocked everyone in 2017. Tony Finau has endured an up-and-down 2025 season so far. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Best bets for the Memorial Shane Lowry (40/1, DraftKings) He doesn't have any hardware to show for it, but 2025 has been a terrific year for Shane Lowry. The Irishman has two runner-ups and four top-10 finishes in 11 outings (not including team events) this season, and he's just a couple of weeks removed from a T2 at the Truist Championship. So, why is Lowry sitting at 40/1? Recency bias. Lowry missed the cut as a trendy sleeper pick at the PGA Championship, causing plenty of punters to abandon ship and his price to drift. We'll buy the dip and hope that the former Open Champion can make some noise in Ohio this week. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps Tony Finau (50/1, FanDuel) It looks like Tony Finau is starting to turn things around. After a Jekyll-and-Hyde start to 2025, Finau has posted back-to-back top-20 finishes at the Truist and PGA Championship, putting him back on the radar for this week's event. Finau has five top-15 finishes at the Memorial, including two top-10s in his last three trips to Jack's Place. It's the right time and place to get back in on Finau. Nick Taylor is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour. Getty Images Nick Taylor (170/1, FanDuel) We'll channel Dufner, Lingmerth and McGirt with one dart for this week's trip to Muirfield Village. Nick Taylor is the type of golfer you always want to consider backing when his price drifts this far out. The Canadian is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour and already has taken a trip to the winner's circle in 2025 (Sony Open). What's more is that Taylor has proven he loves the big moment. Not only does the Winnipeg native have three wins via playoff, but he's won some big titles including the 2023 Canadian Open and 2024 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Taylor missed the cut at the PGA Championship, but he posted a T17 at the Truist a few weeks back.
