Fans are asking the question following footage of players wearing grey game pants instead of the navy bottoms for their pictures at Wednesday's media day.
The Patriots wore the grey pants throughout the Tom Brady era. That look has become synonymous with the previous success of the franchise that won six Super Bowls in Brady's near 20-year run. You can trace the origin of the look as far back as 1993, when the Flying Elvis era began.
The Patriots moved to the navy bottoms to kick-start the post-Brady era in 2020. However, one has to wonder if they are considering a more permanent comeback for the grey pants.
A change in uniform isn't going to magically make the Patriots a better football team, but there's hope they can draw on history and tradition to aid in their confidence in 2025. Perhaps that would be enough to help them get back to their winning ways.
