Did Patriots tease major uniform change for 2025 season?
Are the New England Patriots teasing a uniform change for the 2025 season?
Fans are asking the question following footage of players wearing grey game pants instead of the navy bottoms for their pictures at Wednesday's media day.
The Patriots wore the grey pants throughout the Tom Brady era. That look has become synonymous with the previous success of the franchise that won six Super Bowls in Brady's near 20-year run. You can trace the origin of the look as far back as 1993, when the Flying Elvis era began.
The Patriots moved to the navy bottoms to kick-start the post-Brady era in 2020. However, one has to wonder if they are considering a more permanent comeback for the grey pants.
A change in uniform isn't going to magically make the Patriots a better football team, but there's hope they can draw on history and tradition to aid in their confidence in 2025. Perhaps that would be enough to help them get back to their winning ways.

T.J. Watt: "Absolutely unacceptable" that I haven't won a playoff game

The Steelers won a playoff game in January 2017. Just a few months before the Steelers made linebacker T.J. Watt the 30th pick in the draft. Since then, the Steelers haven't won in the postseason. Which means that Watt never has. In an upcoming interview on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Watt is asked what motivates him. And it doesn't take long for him to get to his playoff blemish. 'Trying to be the best,' Watt said. 'Trying to be the best that I can be. . . And winning a Super Bowl is no doubt motivating me and winning a playoff game is absolutely motivating me. It's something that we haven't been able to do since I've been there. 'I think that's absolutely unacceptable and that is what's attached to my name right now, and I have to answer for that. As much as it sucks, when you say, 'TJ Watt: X, Y, Z,' you also say, 'TJ Watt: Not won a playoff game.'' Does that really bother him? 'Oh, it genuinely bothers me, because I'm a part of those teams,' Watt said. 'As much as I'm only one player as much as whoever's one player, like you are putting your hand in the pile too. I feel like I can make a difference enough to help win a playoff game and to have that to your legacy, especially when you play for an organization that has six Super Bowls. . . . It's like, 'TJ Watt: Yeah, great individual player. But what's the team success? And that's what really bothers me.'' The Steelers seem to be all in to end an eight-year streak of playoff futility. Since the fist time the Steelers won a playoff game in December 1972, it's the longest stretch between postseason success. By three years. And counting. They're counting on Watt to make the difference. And Aaron Rodgers. And DK Metcalf. And Jalen Ramsey. And the rest of the roster.

Steelers send T.J. Watt to Patriots for standout safety in bold trade prediction

T.J. Watt trade speculation is reaching an all-time high — when analysts aren't predicting if he'll re-sign with the Steelers, they're predicting where he'll land next. Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski recently predicted four trade packages for Watt — but arguably the most surprising sees Pittsburgh send their star defender to the Patriots for a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick, and former first-round safety Jabrill Peppers. "Because the Patriots are still in transition, they can send veteran safety Jabrill Peppers back in return," Sobleski wrote. "They're unlikely to give up a future first-rounder, though. Pittsburgh still has DeShon Elliott and Juan Thornhill along the back line, but Peppers can be used as a defensive chess piece to help offset the loss of Minkah Fitzpatrick." It almost feels criminal, even in a trade prediction, to suggest the Steelers would trade away Watt for anything less than a first-round pick. But considering the shocking George Pickens' and Minkah Fitzpatrick's packages this offseason, anything is possible. Adam Schefter reported that while the Steelers aren't willing to deal their superstar defender, outside trade interest in Watt is expected to increase following the recent acquisitions of Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. It's unlikely Pittsburgh entertains any trade offers for Watt, but as negotiations drag on, one has to wonder — is a 30-year-old edge rusher, potentially exiting his prime, worth over $40 million per year? Watch: Patriots fans react to Stefon Diggs arriving at training camp

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs ran on the field to a chorus of cheers on Wednesday, after being cleared to participate at training camp. The veteran four-time Pro Bowler suffered an ACL injury that ended his season prematurely last October with the Houston Texans. He has been working hard behind the scenes to return before the start of the season, and that hard work led to him being available on the first day of training camp. Before the injury, Diggs was coming off six straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons. He has been widely viewed as one of the most consistent and productive wide receivers in the league for years. Patriots fans are hopeful he can bring that same level of success during his run in New England. Diggs had a productive 2024 campaign leading up to the injury in a loaded Texans' offense, recording 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns. A return to form for the star wideout would add tremendous value to the Patriots' offense. Combining his natural playmaking abilities with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels' play-calling could be special to watch. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
