Bangladeshi citizen held with fake passport at airport
Thiruvananthapuram: A Bangladeshi national was arrested at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport with a fake passport and forged documents while trying to fly to a Gulf nation on an Air India Express flight.
Police identified the arrested person as Suman Chowdhary, 29, of Chittagong. During questioning, he admitted that he was a Bangladeshi national and was planning to migrate to Europe from the Gulf.
Central and state intelligence officers then questioned him and he reportedly told the officers that it was difficult for Bangladeshi citizens to migrate to Europe. Due to this, they move to the Gulf and process visa applications to migrate to Europe from there.
The accused secured a fake passport from Bengaluru using a fake Aadhaar card. Later, he reached Thiruvananthapuram via train.
The accused was remanded after being produced before a court on charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 336 (2) for forgery, 336 (3) for committing forgery for the purpose of cheating, 340 (2) for fraudulent use of a forged document and 319 for cheating by personation, section 14A of the Foreigners Act-1946 and 12(1A) of the Passports Act.
