Thiruvananthapuram: A Bangladeshi national was arrested at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport with a fake passport and forged documents while trying to fly to a Gulf nation on an Air India Express flight.
Police identified the arrested person as Suman Chowdhary, 29, of Chittagong. During questioning, he admitted that he was a Bangladeshi national and was planning to migrate to Europe from the Gulf.
Central and state intelligence officers then questioned him and he reportedly told the officers that it was difficult for Bangladeshi citizens to migrate to Europe. Due to this, they move to the Gulf and process visa applications to migrate to Europe from there.
The accused secured a fake passport from Bengaluru using a fake Aadhaar card. Later, he reached Thiruvananthapuram via train.
The accused was remanded after being produced before a court on charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 336 (2) for forgery, 336 (3) for committing forgery for the purpose of cheating, 340 (2) for fraudulent use of a forged document and 319 for cheating by personation, section 14A of the Foreigners Act-1946 and 12(1A) of the Passports Act.

The three suspects had extorted four gold bangles, two gold earrings, and one gold nose pin from the boy. Police have recovered the bangles, one earring, and one nose pin from the suspects, while other items were sold to the jeweller, officers said. (Representational image) Following a police complaint filed by the boy's family at the Modinagar police station, a first information report was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 308 (5) (extortion) and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) against the suspects on Wednesday. Police identified the two arrested suspects as Shailesh Kumar, 26, a bouncer, and Divyam Kumar, 18, a BCA student and the two absconding suspects as Arnab Kumar, and Abhishek, the jeweller, said officers. Police said the minor, a Class 9 student, was friendly to the three suspects (Shailesh, Divyam and Arnab), and the trio allegedly planned the extortion. 'During interactions, the minor showed eagerness to have an iPhone. The suspects said that they could provide it but asked the boy to bring some jewellery from his house. Initially, he brought two gold rings and gave them. They got him an iPhone in return but took it back some days later. Later, they told the boy that there was some police case in connection with the iPhone, and frightened him,' said assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (Modinagar circle) Gyan Prakash Rai. 'Later, they started extorting jewellery items from him after regular intervals since April. The jewellery is estimated around ₹8 lakhs. The suspects also sold the ornaments to a jeweller from Bhojpur. The jeweller (Abhishek) and one suspect (Arnab) are wanted in the case and will be arrested soon,' the ACP added. Police have arrested an e-rickshaw driver who robbed his passengers, a couple, of ₹5,000 in cash near Faidan light point in Sector 48 on July 1. A Class 8 dropout, Ritik worked as an e-rickshaw driver and reportedly used his vehicle to carry out the robbery late on July 1. In his complaint registered at the Sector-31 police station, the victim, Ankit Raghuvanshi, 35, narrated that he was returning from Kaithal with his wife, Pooja. Around 10.50 pm, they hired an e-rickshaw from Tribune Chowk to reach their home in Sector 48-B. When they deboarded at Faidan light point and his wife proceeded to pay the fare, the e-rickshaw driver snatched his wallet from his back pocket. The accused's accomplice, also seated in the e-rickshaw, shouted 'job is done, run' and both fled in the e-rickshaw, Ankit alleged. The victim said his wallet contained ₹5,000 in cash, a PAN card, Aadhaar card and other bank cards. Police arrested Ritik on July 3 and seized the e-rickshaw used in the crime. A 23-year-old man, identified as Navjot Kumar, was shot dead in Gandwa village on Wednesday night, allegedly over an old gang rivalry, police said on Thursday.
