The Animated Studio Behind ARCANE Developing MISS SATURNE Series Inspired by 1980s New Wave Music — GeekTyrant
French animation studio Fortiche, which helped redefine animated storytelling with Arcane , is diving into a fresh, original story. Teaming up with French-German broadcaster Arte, Fortiche has announced Miss Saturne , a coming-of-age miniseries set in the 1980s, rooted in the emotional rhythms of adolescence and the sonic pulse of New Wave music. Based on Barbara Israël's novel of the same name, Miss Saturne follows 16-year-olds Mercy and Tom as they flee the French Riviera on a night train. Along the way, a mixtape of New Wave tracks becomes their emotional roadmap through memory and trauma, guiding them back through the highs and heartbreaks of youth. This marks Fortiche's second new project since wrapping Arcane Season 2, and it's a different, more grounded project for the studio. Still stylish, still emotionally charged, but more intimate in scope. Fortiche founder Jérôme Combe said in a statement: 'With Miss Saturne , we've found a team with the perfect artistic sensibility. Louise Silverio brings her already known flair for coming-of-age stories, having worked on the award-winning series Happiness and Ceux qui rougissent. 'Anne Raffin, who worked on Arcane and music videos, fully shares our desire to explore a strong aesthetic for today's youth. This project is an opportunity for us to explore indie animation designed for the new generation.' The 2D-animated series is being developed with ARTE France and Les Storygraphes, with Silverio writing and Raffin directing. It's being shaped into ten short episodes, each 10 minutes long. According to co-producer Annelyse Vieilledent of Les Storygraphes: 'At a time when young people are rediscovering the retro musical repertoire of that decade, I'm convinced that this free, visceral and resolutely pop tale will resonate strongly with them.' That generational thread is exactly what Fortiche hopes to tap into. The studio says the series aligns with their deep connection to music as a narrative tool. Production is aiming for 2026 with a release in 2027. Fortiche is currently in talks with international platforms and partners to broaden the show's global reach. Meanwhile, the team is at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this week for a special Arcane exhibition. Curated with Riot Games and the festival itself, the exhibit offers fans a peek behind the curtain with concept art, props, and exclusive production materials.

‘Arcane' Producer Fortiche Teaming With ARTE France on Coming-of-Age Mini-Series ‘Miss Saturne'
At the Annecy Animation Festival today, Fortiche, the acclaimed French animation house behind the hit series 'Arcane,' announced it is diving into original IP with the upcoming miniseries 'Miss Saturne, a 10×10-minute animated project currently developed in collaboration with ARTE France and Les Storygraphes. 'Miss Saturne' was previously pitched as a feature and appeared at Cartoon Movie in 2017, but has been retooled as ten, 10-minute episode project to better align with younger viewing habits and digital platforms. How closely the new series will adhere to that original pitch hasn't been made clear, but the companies are describing it as a 'generational fiction infused with music.' Taiwan Creative Content Agency (Taicca) has announced a strategic partnership with animation school Gobelins Paris at Annecy's film-TV market MIFA. As shared with the audience, the new collaboration aims to 'cultivate animation talents from Taiwan, support the development of original IPs for children and young adults, and strengthen Taiwan's connections with the global animation industry.' The show about 'forgotten God,' produced by MK Origin Studio, is rooted in the myths of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, it was revealed. 'Blue Runners,' adapted from the award-winning novel and directed by Huang Shih-Ming, follows an ex-athlete and a teenager struggling with depression, who gradually breaks out of isolation through long-distance running. Stepmotion Pictures is on board. In 'Bliss: Beyond the Edge of Time,' the audience is granted an unflinching look into the future, where 'the cold precision of technology collides with the fragile essence of humanity.' ARCANE Writer Teases Spinoff Exploring Motherhood and Aging Heroes: 'What Happens When Vi and Caitlyn Are Older?' — GeekTyrant
Ever since Arcane Season 2 wrapped up with a bang, fans have been wondering about what's next for the franchise. While Riot Games and Fortiche are playing things close to the chest, writer Amanda Overton just dropped an intriguing hint at where a potential spin-off could go… emotionally and thematically. Overton, who helped shape the scripts for both seasons of the hit Netflix series, recently opened up about how her personal life is shifting the kind of stories she wants to tell next. She told ScreenRant: 'I wasn't a mother when we were writing season 1 and 2, and now I am. And I was like, 'There is so much more to explore in terms of motherhood, or how phases of life shift.'' That life perspective could open the door to a very different kind of Arcane story, one less focused on rising conflict and more about the evolution of the people who've already fought their battles. Overton added: '[I'd be interested in] older characters – what happens when Vi and Caitlyn are older, and now they're adults, and what choices do they make?' It's an interesting pivot, especially considering how Arcane Season 2 ended with Piltover reeling from Ambessa's invasion, Viktor's time-bending technology shifting the tides, and Vi suffering heartbreaking losses with Vander and Jinx. But a quieter, character-driven follow-up could be exactly what the series needs to deepen its emotional resonance. Meanwhile, showrunner Christian Linke is keeping things a bit more grounded. In the same interview, he said: 'I think, for now, it's a moment for us to take a step back [and] look at the whole map, if you will.' That cautious tone is a shift from the immediate post-finale energy, when fans expected multiple new projects to go into development. In fact, things got so speculative that Riot co-founder Marc Merrill had to clarify things on X: 'To clarify, he didn't say 3 separate shows – said exploring 3 regions. We are exploring a bunch of different shows (and games).' Still, fans hoping to return to Runeterra are going to have a wait a while. When previously talking about the future of the franchise, Linke made it clear: 'Yeah, it takes time – depending on if it's a series or a movie. We're exploring both in many, many directions. A lot of it comes down to finding the right people, the right vision, the right idea, the right story. 'That'll take years, and once we have confidence that something's happening, we'll talk more about it." For now, both seasons of Arcane are streaming on Netflix. As for what's next, older heroes, motherhood, new regions, or maybe all of the above, I'mlooking forward to seeing what's next.
