Gear up for Jubilee Hills bypoll & panchayat polls: Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy to cadre

HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday provided a roadmap to the party to prepare for panchayat polls and bypoll to Jubilee Hills assembly constituency. Addressing the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) followed by the executive committee meeting in Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth instructed the party leadership to establish committees for poll booths, villages and mandals at the earliest. The members of these committees should communicate the welfare schemes of the Congress govt in the last 18 months to every household ahead of the local body elections, he said. "Party should get closer to the people. Our 18-month governance is a golden period. Take it to the people. Leaders should become a link between the people and the govt. Encourage debates on every platform in villages so that people can compare and discuss our 18 months with 10 years of destruction of Telangana by the previous BRS govt. We need to tell the people what our govt has done and how Telangana has become a role model on several fronts for the country. Our caste survey has forced even Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a nationwide caste census," Revanth said. The CM also emphasised that winning Jubilee Hills bypoll would be crucial ahead of the GHMC elections later in the year. He criticised aspirants for declaring themselves as candidates for the bypoll, stating that while aspiring for posts is acceptable, indiscipline and making tall claims in the media will not be tolerated. Expressing his ire over lack of accountability, he put the responsibility of winning local body elections on the district in-charge ministers. "The CM was unhappy with indiscipline and protests at Gandhi Bhavan for ministerial berths and other party posts. He also expressed his anger over funds provided not being spent in districts and instructed that they be spent expeditiously ahead of local body elections," a sources privy to the meeting said. He said district in-charge ministers and senior leaders should immediately fill them up. The cadres should not be disappointed, he said. "We can go for panchayat polls if party leaders and cadres say they are ready," he said. Later, he released the book "From Destruction to Development", a compilation of articles by TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud on governance in the state.

Telangana CM fixes responsibility of winning local body polls on district in-charge Ministers

In a stern message to his party colleagues, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of accountability and discipline, and put the responsibility of winning the local body elections on the district in-charge Ministers. Sources said the Chief Minister was extremely unhappy with the indiscipline in the party and the protests at Gandhi Bhavan for Ministerial berths and other party posts by various organisations with the tacit support of some leaders. The Chief Minister expressed the strong views at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 24, 2025). Mr. Reddy apparently reminded the Ministers and senior colleagues in the party of their responsibilities. The onus was shifted onto the in-charge Ministers of the districts concerned since they were provided funds and it is their responsibility to see that they are spent properly and expeditiously. The Chief Minister apparently was critical about the delay in filling nominated posts, including positions in the market and temple committees. The cadre should not be disappointed, he said, asking the senior leaders what made them delay these appointments that would be keep majority cadre happy and infuse them with enthusiasm. Mr. Reddy was also displeased over the recent dharnas staged by some Congress aspirants demanding ministerial positions. 'There is nothing wrong in aspiring for posts, but holding protests for them is indiscipline and it is contagious,' he said making it clear that indiscipline will not be tolerated. Jubilee Hills by-election Mr. Reddy also took serious exception to some aspirants staking open claim and declaring themselves as candidates for the Jubilee Hills by-election. The party will decide on the candidate, he said and warned the aspirants not to go public with their views. Seeking accountability within the party, Mr. Reddy directed the PCC to prepare two lists of executive committee members: one of those who have worked actively and another of those who are inactive. 'Hard workers will be promoted while others will be ignored. There is nothing to be feared.' Only those who worked for the party during its toughest times will get positions. That will be the principle going forward. Major political developments The Chief Minister pointed out major political developments in the coming months with subjects like delimitation, the women's reservation bill, and local body elections. 'These are big challenges and the party must be prepared at every level,' he said, adding that he is ready to go into the villages to strengthen the organisation. Later, he released the book 'From Destruction to Development', authored by TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on the governance in the State. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge for Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan were among present.
