Telangana CM fixes responsibility of winning local body polls on district in-charge Ministers
Sources said the Chief Minister was extremely unhappy with the indiscipline in the party and the protests at Gandhi Bhavan for Ministerial berths and other party posts by various organisations with the tacit support of some leaders.
The Chief Minister expressed the strong views at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 24, 2025).
Mr. Reddy apparently reminded the Ministers and senior colleagues in the party of their responsibilities. The onus was shifted onto the in-charge Ministers of the districts concerned since they were provided funds and it is their responsibility to see that they are spent properly and expeditiously.
The Chief Minister apparently was critical about the delay in filling nominated posts, including positions in the market and temple committees. The cadre should not be disappointed, he said, asking the senior leaders what made them delay these appointments that would be keep majority cadre happy and infuse them with enthusiasm.
Mr. Reddy was also displeased over the recent dharnas staged by some Congress aspirants demanding ministerial positions. 'There is nothing wrong in aspiring for posts, but holding protests for them is indiscipline and it is contagious,' he said making it clear that indiscipline will not be tolerated.
Jubilee Hills by-election
Mr. Reddy also took serious exception to some aspirants staking open claim and declaring themselves as candidates for the Jubilee Hills by-election. The party will decide on the candidate, he said and warned the aspirants not to go public with their views.
Seeking accountability within the party, Mr. Reddy directed the PCC to prepare two lists of executive committee members: one of those who have worked actively and another of those who are inactive.
'Hard workers will be promoted while others will be ignored. There is nothing to be feared.' Only those who worked for the party during its toughest times will get positions. That will be the principle going forward.
Major political developments
The Chief Minister pointed out major political developments in the coming months with subjects like delimitation, the women's reservation bill, and local body elections. 'These are big challenges and the party must be prepared at every level,' he said, adding that he is ready to go into the villages to strengthen the organisation.
Later, he released the book 'From Destruction to Development', authored by TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on the governance in the State. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge for Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan were among present.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating an 11-storey barrack tower and a 30-bed hospital at the 26th PAC Battalion in Gorakhpur, Yogi said: 'Eight years ago, U.P. was mocked for its association with violence and crime. Today, no one can question our law and order. We have proven that transformation is possible with strong will and honest governance.' He said that effective policing, transparent recruitment, and world-class infrastructure have redefined U.P's image from a state of unrest to a state of celebration. 'The U.P. Police were once plagued by poor infrastructure, scams, and court interventions that hindered recruitment. Youth were disheartened. But the situation has changed. Telangana caste survey a RARE model for India and Sonia's letter a Nobel prize: Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy termed Telangana's Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) survey a 'Rare Model' for the country and the letter of Sonia Gandhi to him praising it as a 'Nobel prize and an Oscar' for him. Mr. Reddy was speaking after presenting the survey findings to senior leaders of the Congress at a meeting at the AICC office in New Delhi on Thursday. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi termed it a 'historic milestone' and said that Mr. Reddy has set a benchmark for the nation. The Chief Minister showcased 88,000 pages of data gathered from an unprecedented door-to-door survey, where the public self-certified their caste and other details. 'This is the first of its kind survey in India to comprehensively collect caste-linked data spanning education, employment, political representation, and social status,' Mr. Reddy said amidst applause from the Congress leadership. The Chief Minister attributed the success to Mr. Gandhi and said that February 4, when the survey started last year, would be celebrated as Social Justice Day in Telangana. Highlighting an interesting finding of the survey, Mr. Reddy said 3.9% of people self-identified as not belonging to any caste. This group was identified as highly educated and English-speaking individuals by an Expert Committee that studied the data scientifically. Turning emotional, the Chief Minister showed a handwritten letter from Sonia Gandhi praising the survey and described it as 'more valuable than a Nobel or an Oscar,' and 'personal lifetime achievement.' The survey revealed that BCs constitute 56.36% of the State's population. Based on these findings, the Telangana government passed two significant bills ensuring 42% reservation for BCs in both local bodies and in education and employment. Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Chief Minister said that Mr. Gandhi made this possible unlike the BJP leaders who simply talk. He also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he was a 'legally converted BC' and would do nothing for the BCs. He said Mr. Modi was forced to repeal the farm laws by Rahul Gandhi, and a similar stand was taken by the Prime Minister on caste survey once Rahul Gandhi stepped up the pressure. Priyanka Gandhi said she was proud of Revanth Reddy for the achievement, and more so for having the political courage to do it. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar and TPCC president Mahesh Goud were among those present.
