21-acre land parcel in Limerick fetches over €18,000 an acre at auction
The Limerick office of GVM Auctioneers reported another successful agricultural land auction last week. The sale took place of a 21-acre holding at Robertstown, Shanagolden, Co Limerick. at GVM's auction rooms in central Limerick City, on July 2, with Tom Crosse wielding the gavel. This was a hybrid auction, with bids also coming in online via Between online bidders and bidders present, there were five participants in all. The property was a prime piece of Golden Vale grassland, with 75m of road frontage, south of the N69, 3km southeast of Foynes and 30km west of Limerick City. 'The holding is flat in nature and of good quality,' said Mr Crosse. 'It's set out in permanent pasture and is ideal for all types of farming use.' Bidding opened at €210,000. The property was formally placed on the market at €310,000. Several bids later, the gavel fell on a price of €382,000, or €18,100/acre. Tom Crosse was delighted with the price obtained, saying it 'far exceeded the anticipated selling price… The end bidder was online and bought in trust, we believe, on behalf of a local farmer.' Mr Crosse further added the Adare/Foynes bypass was now beginning to positively influence local land prices, as affected landowners endeavour to replace parcels they have lost to accommodate the new roads. 95-acre Clare farm fetches in excess of AMV post-auction
A 95-acre farm in Co Clare sold well on June 17, even though it failed sell at a public auction at GVM's auction rooms at their Limerick City offices on Glantworth St. The holding was at Ballycannon West, adjacent to the village of Meelick, just north of Limerick City. It was a joint sale along with GVM and Naas-based O'Neill & Co Chartered Surveyors and Auctioneers. Although predominantly in pasture, the lands contained around 10 acres of mature woodland and had been let for several years. The farm represented a good opportunity for someone to improve to its full potential and also featured a derelict house with a traditional enclosed farmyard. The property was a hybrid auction, with bids from the floor and online (via the LSL auctions platform), with a good attendance present at GVM's offices, according to O'Neill & Co's Darac O'Neill. 'Bidding reached €625,000,' said Mr O'Neill, 'before the property was withdrawn." "Following negotiations with the highest bidder, the property was sold shortly afterwards for a figure well in excess of its advised minimum value (AMV). "The buyer is understood to be a Cork-based businessman.' Commenting afterwards, Mr O'Neill added: 'We were very pleased with the level of interest in this sale and a very successful result, well above the AMV. "It's a great outcome for our client and demonstrates the depth of the market for land of this scale and location.' The sale was conducted jointly by O'Neill & Co and GVM Auctioneers.

Development of cross-cut into new gold target underway in Zimbabwe
P ambili Natural Resources Corp. has commenced development of a cross-cut into the new gold target area previously identified by Hole EADD001 at GVM earlier this year. Assays of the core retrieved from Hole EADD001 identified an anomalous zone of sulphide mineralized brecciated chert returning 1.2 grams per tonne ('g/t') gold over an apparent width of 17.2 metres beneath the historic workings at GVM mine. Mineralization appears to remain open along strike and at depth. Pambili is developing the cross-cut from the recently developed sub-vertical shaft. The Company will extend a cross-cut southwards to the higher-grade lower contact (7m @ 2.00g/t Au including 2m @ 3.86g/t Au) as a priority and the lower-grade upper contact (2.19m @ 1.57g/t Au) as a secondary priority. Pambili will process the material recovered from the cross-cut through the existing on-site stamp mill at GVM. At current gold prices, processing grades as low as 0.5 g/t can be profitable. Once the mineralized zone is encountered, any ore will be processed through the GVM gravity recovered gold ('GRG') plant, which is currently being modified to facilitate the processing of larger quantities of ore. Jon Harris, Chief Executive Officer of Pambili Natural Resources, commented: 'Pambili is at a pivotal growth point, with the development of the cross-cut at GVM being key to establishing the potential scale of gold mineralization at GVM. Charolais show and sale and dispersal set for Tullamore
The Irish Charolais Cattle Society is set to host a show and sale of pedigree bulls on Saturday, May 31, at GVM Tullamore Mart, Co. Offaly. Also taking place on the day will be the dispersal of the Prime Pedigree Charolais herd owned by the late Benny Keating from Templemore, Co. Tipperary. The society show will kick off at 10:00a.m. with 56 bulls catalogued and the sale is set to kick off at 12:30p.m. Auctioneer Tom Cox will be in the rostrum, with bidding available both online and through the LSL Auctions app. There are two championships in the show, the Senior Championship and Reserve and the Junior Championship and Reserve. The dispersal sale will run after the lots are sold in the society sale. Prime Charolais herd dispersal The family of the late Benny Keating are offering the Prime Charolais herd for sale after the society event on Saturday. Included in this sale are seven females, two young bulls, and three embryos. The herd has won numerous awards and championships, with progeny from the herd well-known amongst Charolais breeders in showrings across the country over the years. The Prime pedigree herd was established in 1996 by the late Benny Keating. In 1997, he purchased a pregnancy from well-known Charolais breeder Jim Ryall from Co. Cork who was bred out of Knockane Cynthia, who herself won 58 championships. This heifer was named Prime Noelle and set the ball rolling in winning many championships along the way for the Prime herd. Prime Noelle went unbeaten in the show ring in 1999 and went on to win the Overall Heifer Champion at the National Charolais Show that year. She also went on to capture the Supreme Champion and interbreed Champion at the Tullamore National Livestock Show. Noelle's progeny included the artificial insemination (AI) bull Prime Roberto (PBT) who stood at Dovea AI Station in Co. Tipperary. Her daughter Prime Ruby was the 2003 Senior and Supreme Charolais Heifer Champion at the National Charolais Show. Riversdale Anchor bred by Kevin Maguire, who was Supreme Male Champion at the 2007 National Charolais Show was another son. Prime Champion, who won the best Irish-Bred Male at the 2008 Beef Expo competition at just 10 months old was also bred of Noelle. Prime Usher, a son of Prime Ruby was the 2006 Senior Male Champion at the National Charolais Show, shown by the then owner Christy Comerford. Prime Sue also from the herd being dispersed bred progeny including Prime Fatcha and she won heifer of the year and the Champion of Champions award in 2012. Prime Louise won heifer of the year in 2017, in addition to winning the Senior Pairs with Prime Lucy. This heifer was Senior Female Champion at the National Charolais Show. Sue is also a grand-dam of Knockmahon Hyacinth, heifer of the year in 2014 and Supreme Charolais Champion at the Tullamore National Livestock Show that year, bred by Christy Comerford. Ahead of the dispersal, a statement from the family said: 'While we are very saddened that this is the end of the Prime Pedigree Herd, we hope that you enjoy the stock as much as Benny did and they bring you great success.'

'Minnesota has a fraud problem': Eden Prairie couple indicted in $15 million scheme
An Eden Prairie couple has been indicted in a $15 million medical billing fraud scheme they allegedly orchestrated. The United States Department of Justice said Gabriel Alexander Luthor, a.k.a Gabriel Alexander Langford, 39, and Elizabeth Christine Brown, 42, allegedly engaged in the scheme that defrauded Medicare, Medicaid and other insurers by overbilling for neurofeedback therapy. Luthor and Brown are each charged with six counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering. According to federal court documents, the two allegedly started the scheme in 2018, overbilling medical insurance companies provided through Golden Victory Medical, LLC (GVM). The couple founded GVM that same year together. One of the main medical services the company claimed to provide was neurofeedback therapy, which involves the medical provider placing sensors on a patient's scalp to obtain images of the patient's brain waves "for the purpose of indicating the effects of interventions meant to treat mental-health conditions," according to court documents. However, the indictment states that Luthor and Brown fraudulently overbilled insurers by using numerous, inapplicable medical codes. In total, the couple submitted "hundreds of thousands" of fake claims to insurers, many of which the insurers paid. Millions of dollars in fraudulent proceeds were transferred from separate bank accounts and ultimately kept by Luthor and Brown. The funds were allegedly used to purchase a mansion in Eden Prairie and pay off their living expenses and other expenses of Luther's other girlfriends, who lived with the couple and also assisted in the fraud scheme, authorities say. 'Minnesota has a fraud problem,' said Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. 'This case is yet another example of defendants defrauding government programs out of millions. This type of widespread fraud is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.' The couple made their initial appearances in U.S. District Court earlier last week and were officially indicted on Thursday.
