‘Glad to have lost the role': Taylor Swift becomes the target of Matty Healy's mother in cutting interview
Taylor Swift was shaded by her ex-boyfriend Matty Healy's mum, Denise Welch, who declared she was 'glad' that she didn't end up as the singer's mother-in-law. Welch targeted the 14-time Grammy winner when asked about the pop star's short-lived romance with her son during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live! Thursday. Welch, a British soap actress and daytime TV fixture, didn't hold back when host Andy Cohen asked for her reaction to Swift's 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is believed to contain several nods to the rocker. 'Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost,' she said, prompting audible gasps from the audience. 'Not that I have anything against her at all,' she went on. 'It was just — it was tricky.' The Big Brother star, 67, then briefly paused before elaborating on her initial answer. 'She — listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it,' Welch said of the Cruel Summer hit maker, 35. But Welch insisted that Healy, who is the frontman for The 1975, took the aftermath of Swift's eleventh studio album 'all in good grace.' 'He is very happy with his amazing fiancee Gabriella, who is gorgeous,' she went on, referring to the model Gabbriette Bechtel, by her real name. 'So, we've moved on,' Welch added. Healy, 36, and Swift briefly dated from May to June 2023, following the latter's split from British actor Joe Alwyn. During their short-lived romance, the duo were inseparable, with the crooner attending several of her sold-out Eras Tour concerts. They were also often spotted in New York City, including at the Electric Lady recording studio. Following the pair's split, an insider told Entertainment Tonight that they had parted ways due to incompatibility and scheduling issues. When Swift released TTPD in April 2024, it was rumoured that she wrote the album's title track, Guilty As Sin, Down Bad, Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) about Healy. Swift has since moved on with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce over the summer of 2023. Healy, for his part, popped the all-important question to Bechtel in June 2024.

The ‘It Girl' model who's finally tamed Taylor Swift's bad boy ex Matty Healy…as pair snipe at each other on rival songs
AFTER years of attempts, The 1975 will finally make their Glastonbury debut on the Pyramid stage tonight. And rooting from the sidelines for lead singer Matty Healy, 36, will be his glamorous wife-to-be Gabbriette Bechtel, along with his famous parents Tim Healy and Denise Welch. 14 14 Matty and model Gabbriette, 27, started dating back in September 2023 and got engaged after just nine months, with the singer popping the question with a custom black diamond ring. It certainly matches her goth-light style, with Gabbriette previously telling Vogue her fashion inspiration ranges from 50s pin-up icons to dominatrixes. Speaking about her fiance, she previously told HommeGirls: 'He came to L.A., and we've been in love ever since.' A music insider said: 'Everyone at the studio thought this was about Matty's fling with Taylor and their fleeting romance. 'Matty will never publicly comment on his relationships, but he lets his deepest feelings out in his songs and gets everything off his chest. 'Fans will want to listen to the lyrics very carefully.' Glasto 'special guest' The insider told The Sun playing Glastonbury is "a huge deal" for the band and "something they've wanted to make happen for years". 'It's even more special for Matty because he will have his fiancée Gabbriette and his parents stage side rooting for him," they added.
