Shine Tom Chacko says Mammootty supported him during de-addiction, father's death
Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has opened up about the tragic car accident that claimed his father's life earlier this month. In a heartfelt interview with The Cue, he also reflected on his personal battle with addiction and how actor Mammootty's unwavering support helped him through one of the darkest phases of his recounted the accident, which occurred on the Hosur National Highway on June 6. He revealed that he had developed the habit of eating biscuits to cope with withdrawal symptoms. His father, aware of his struggle, was constantly offering him biscuits during the drive that I would've smoked during breaks, but now I've replaced that with biscuits. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to ask my dad for some. The next thing I remember is seeing him after the accident. He never spoke to us after that,' he said. Shine was travelling with his father, mother, and brother when the crash happened. He suffered multiple fractures and required 30 stitches. 'It didn't strike me at first. But then I found myself lying on the road, crying and pleading for help,' he many extended support during his hospitalisation, one gesture that deeply moved him came from Mammootty. 'He didn't say much, but he said exactly what I needed to hear. He told me not to let grief consume me, to stay grounded, and keep moving forward,' Shine added, 'Mammukka himself is going through a difficult time but still took the effort to call. He told me he never saw me as a problematic person—just a mischievous one. Braving injuries, Shine Tom Chacko arrives to bid final goodbye to father who died in accident; breaks down in tears before his mortal remains
Actor Shine Tom Chacko's father CP Chacko (73), who died in a road accident on Friday, was laid to rest on Monday (June 9). Both Shine and his 68-year-old mother Mariya, who sustained injuries in the mishap, arrived at their home in Mundur, Thrissur district, directly from the hospital to attend the funeral. As they approached Chacko's body, both Shine and Mariya broke down in tears, casting an even deeper pall of gloom over the gathering. Shine couldn't hold back his emotions as he gave a final kiss to his father, who had stood by him through every crisis. In videos that have surfaced online, he is seen weeping while hugging his brother, Jo John. Shine sustained minor fractures below his left shoulder and on his spine. Doctors are scheduled to perform surgery on him following the funeral. Mariya, who suffered a serious hip injury in the accident, was brought to their Mundur home on a stretcher. She was informed of Chacko's demise only on Monday morning. Shine's sisters, Sumi and Riya, also arrived from New Zealand to attend their father's last rites. After the rituals at home, the funeral was held at the Mundur Parikarmala Matha Church cemetery. Mariya, too, is reportedly scheduled to undergo surgery following the funeral. CP Chacko lost his life in a car accident in Dharmapuri near Salem, Tamil Nadu, while travelling with his family. They were en route to Bengaluru for Shine Tom Chacko's treatment when a lorry coming from the opposite direction collided with their car. CP Chacko died on the spot, while Shine, Mariya, Jo and their driver Aneesh were rushed to a nearby hospital. Shine was last seen in the Malayalam film Alappuzha Gymkhana, directed by Khalid Rahman and featuring Naslen, as well as in Adhik Ravichandran's Ajith Kumar-starrer Good Bad Ugly. Shine Tom Chacko's father dies in car accident, actor, his mother injured
Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko and his family met with a car accident near Tamil Nadu on Friday morning. His father, Sibi Chacko, 70, died on the spot, while the actor and his mother suffered injuries. At the time of the accident, Shine was travelling along with his mother, brother and and his mother have been admitted to Dharmapuri government medical college where the doctors are attending to their injuries. According to reports, his brother suffered injuries as well. The accident took place at around 7 am when their car rammed into a lorry near Palakottai in Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri.
