Man arrested in Kanpur for murdering woman in Kolathur
The Greater Chennai Police (GCP) have solved the murder of a 38-year-old woman in Kolathur and arrested a 36-year-old man in Kanpur for committing the crime. The police identified the arrested as Mohsin Ansari of Punjab. He was arrested by a special police team in Kanpur. On Monday, the police recovered the body of a woman, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a locked house in Kolathur, and launched an investigation to ascertain whether she was murdered. The police identified her as Saraswathi of Vriddhachalam. Sixteen years ago, she had married Ganeshamurthi, a Sri Lankan refugee from the Gummidipoondi camp, and the couple had two children. Recently, she and her children had been living at a rented house in Kolathur, while her husband remained in Gummidipoondi. She left her children with her husband and returned to her house in Kolathur on July 18. Following this, Ganeshamurthi could not get in touch with her and asked his friends to check on her. Meanwhile, Saraswathi's neighbours alerted the police after they noticed a stench from her house. The police broke open the door and recovered the body. It was sent to the Government Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem. A mobile phone, a two-wheeler, and a gold ornament were missing from the house, indicating that it was a murder for gain. After investigating, the police identified Mohsin as the suspect and traced him to Uttar Pradesh by analysing mobile phone signals. They nabbed him with the help of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The investigation revealed that Moshin was in a relationship with Saraswathi. Angered after learning that she was married to another man, he murdered her.

Decomposed body of woman found in locked house in Kolathur
Police recovered the body of a 38-year-old woman from inside a locked house in Kolathur and launched an investigation to ascertain whether she was murdered. Police identified the body of Saraswathi, 38, of Virudhachalam. She married Ganeshamurthi, a Sri Lankan refugee who lived in Gummidipoondi camp, 16 years ago. The couple had two children. Recently, she and her two children moved to a rented house in Kolathur while Ganeshamurthi remained in Gummidipoondi. Leaving the children with her husband, she came back alone to the rented house in Kolathur on Friday. Since then, there was no response from her to calls from her husband. He asked his friends to check on her. In the meantime, neighbours alerted the police after bad odour from the house. Upon receipt of information, police personnel in Kolathur came to the spot and broke the lock of the house. They recovered the body and sent it to Government Stanley Hospital for post-mortem. A mobile phone, a two-wheeler and a gold ornament were missing from the house. Police launched an investigation into the death of a woman.
