Do This Every Morning Wellnee Undo On Friday, a Supreme Court bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi said the filmmakers appeal against the high court order staying the release was infructuous as they accepted the July 21 order of the Centre clearing the release of the film subject to six cuts in its scenes and modifications in the disclaimer. The bench further had said it has not expressed any opinion on merit and the high court can adjudicate the issue of stay of release of film. Live Events It also directed Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind president Maulana Arshad Madani and Mohd Javed, who is an accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, to move the high court against the Centre's decision. The Delhi High Court had stayed the film's release on a Madani's plea on July 10, invoking powers of the Central Government under Section 6 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, till the representation is decided by the Central Government, for which the high court granted one week time. The filmmakers claimed to have received a Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certificate with the board suggesting 55 cuts and the film was due to be released on July 11. Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in June 2022 allegedly by Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghous. The assailants later released a video claiming that the murder was in reaction to the tailor allegedly sharing a social media post in support of former BJP member Nupur Sharma following her controversial comments on Prophet Mohammed. The case was probed by the NIA and the accused were booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act , besides provisions under IPC. The trial is pending before the special NIA court in Jaipur. (With agency inputs)

At least 35 killed in rebel attack in northeast DR Congo
At least 35 people were killed Sunday in an attack by Allied Democratic Forces rebels in northeastern DR Congo, ending a months-long period of regional calm, local sources told AFP. 'Not found suitable' clause weaponised against SCs, STs, OBCs to deny them job opportunities: Congress
New Delhi: The Congress on Sunday slammed the Modi government over vacant reserved posts for SCs , STs and OBCs in central universities and alleged that the "not found suitable" clause was being "weaponized" against these categories to deny them fair employment opportunities. In the general category, the vacancies are 39%. 69% positions for OBCs, 65% positions for STs, and 51% positions for SCs at the Associate Professor level are vacant. In the general category, the vacancies are 16%. "23% positions for OBCs, 15% positions for STs, and 14% positions for SCs at the Assistant Professor level are vacant. In the general category, the vacancies are only 8%," he said. While the government has claimed that it does not centrally collect data on the prevalence of "not found suitable" (NFS) during the recruitment for faculty positions, the data is unequivocal, Ramesh said. The distinctly higher level of vacancies among reserved positions as compared to general category positions clearly points to a much higher prevalence of NFS for these candidates, he contended. "This is clear evidence of the issue that @Rahul Gandhi has raised -- that NFS is being weaponized against SC, ST, and OBC candidates to deny them fair employment opportunities and to subvert the Constitutional provision for reservations in public employment," Ramesh said. Gandhi on Friday also attacked the Modi government over vacant reserved posts for SCs, STs and OBCs in central universities and said this is not just negligence but a "well-planned conspiracy" to keep "Bahujans" out of education, research and policies. The leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha had demanded that all such vacant posts be filled immediately and 'Bahujans' be given their rights, not "Manuwadi boycott".

Govt works on plan to deregulate licensing requirements to transform Delhi into an 'investment destination'
In a push to enhance ease of doing business in Delhi , the Centre has urged the Lieutenant Governor to implement reforms aimed at easing licensing norms and establishing a single-window clearance system to position the capital as an 'investment destination', reported ToI. A major proposal under consideration is the elimination of mandatory health trade, general trade, and factory licences currently issued by the MCD and NDMC to commercial establishments across the city. Sources told TOI that the Centre has described these as "low-hanging fruits" that can be quickly "fructified" through executive orders or notifications, without the need to amend existing laws. The push comes days after LG VK Saxena cleared a proposal withdrawing Delhi Police's powers to issue licences to seven categories of businesses — swimming pools, eateries, hotels, guest houses, discotheques, video game parlours, amusement parks and auditoriums. Live Events Officials said a recent presentation was made to the Prime Minister, highlighting reforms already introduced by the Lieutenant Governor to streamline business regulations in Delhi. Impressed by Saxena's efforts, the PM directed officials to ensure that traders are no longer entangled in bureaucratic red tape while setting up operations. According to officials, the deregulation cell conducted an extensive review of existing laws and held multiple rounds of consultations with representatives from the Delhi government, MCD, NDMC, DDA, RERA, and the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. These discussions, along with an analysis of best practices from other states, shaped the final set of recommendations aimed at untangling the regulatory web created by overlapping agency jurisdictions. One of the reforms — exempting GST- or FSSAI-registered businesses from mandatory Shops and Establishment Act registration — can be implemented via a labour department notification, reported TOI. To streamline the process, the cell has suggested designating either MCD or NDMC as the nodal agency for all business-related licences. It has proposed that applicants be required to visit only one office for all approvals. It further recommended transferring powers to issue FSSAI and weights and measures licences to the civic agency and designating the MCD commissioner or NDMC chairperson as commissioner of food safety and controller of legal metrology. "Any other licence for commercial activity currently handled by Delhi govt should also be brought under MCD to ensure a single point of contact," the cell said. The recommendations noted that these reforms would pave the way for a truly effective single-window clearance system. The Lieutenant Governor has been advised to bring all key stakeholders — including MCD, NDMC, FSSAI, GST, ESIC, EPF, fire services, and the DPCC — onto a unified platform to streamline approvals and coordination.
