Spy the eyewear trends that have been making waves in 2025
Courtesy of Chanel At times, they're supersized supreme. Some lean sleek and chic. And if the time calls for it, a cat eye does it. Some accessories re-enter conversations with the seasons—like any current talk of a necktie—but ask any fashion-inclined individual and they'll never retire their favourite pair of eyewear. Perhaps interest in specific shapes or styles might wax and wane, but between one's opticals and a trusty pair of sunnies to keep close, there's no question that fashion's rotating slate of statement eyewear will continue to hold everyone's attention. As we bask in the summer heat and the days grow longer, a dependable pair of protective sunglasses is something we all need. Some still prefer their sun shields on the oversized end, like Miley Cyrus's retro aviators run or Victoria Beckham's preference for the bug-eyed silhouette. Techwear or reflective eyewear still finds its moments for the occasion, like during Jennie's Coachella set to complete her Mugler archival fit. If logomania could ever be subtle, some notable designer brands have even found their way around to make it look chic again. Simply look at Chanel's spring/summer 2025 eyewear campaign for the collection, or the freshest bit of fashion fodder: Celine's recent spring/summer 2026 show by Michael Rider. Courtesy of Chanel 2024's prescription glasses craze continues to have a chokehold on the zeitgeist, albeit now in new iterations. Gentle Monster's newest entrance to the market includes their Pocket Collection, a foldable line of eyewear fronted by Aespa's Karina. Small, thin wired frames still reign everywhere, spotted in waves all through the fall/winter 2025 season, be it on the Prada runway or out on the streets. And if there's a colour of choice across the board for tinted sunglasses? A wash of yellow would be it. As large frames are becoming chic again, and we anticipate small, foldable styles to take off, spy the eyewear trends that are taking us through the rest of 2025—and well into the next year. IMAXTree 1 / 33 Bug-eyed frames: Dolce&Gabbana The oversized trend isn't going anywhere. In particular, bug-eyed silhouettes were spotted all over the runways across the fall/winter 2025 season—and most recently, Victoria Beckham stepped out donning her own retro-inspired pair. The new Pocket collection by Gentle Monster (and fronted by Karina) has certainly taken off—with its styles in demand everywhere. Be it for its chic appearance or portable nuance, it's already a design with potential for multiple re-iterations. Getty 10 / 33 Yellow-tinted sunglasses: Rihanna If there's one hue favoured by designers across the board, it seems to be this retro-esque shade of yellow. Seen on celebrities everywhere—from Rihanna to Dua Lipa and G-Dragon—yellow-tinted shades are swinging back in style. IMAXTree 13 / 33 Oversized aviators: Loewe Aviator styles are still going strong, but they don't necessarily have to be the old school pilot styles. A play on its inverted shape was spotted at Loewe's spring/summer 2025 show late last year, and the oversized aviator silhouette continues to have its hold on the market. Princess Eugenie Just Rewore *That* Dress—And Fans Are Obsessed
Royals… they're just like us. OK, maybe not exactly. But when it comes to rewearing a favorite outfit, they're right there with us. Kate Middleton has been known to breathe new life into her wardrobe staples, and now Princess Eugenie is giving us another great example of royal outfit repeating done right. On June 12, 2025, Princess Eugenie stepped out in Nice, France, for the launch of Thirty Six For Coral, an art exhibition supporting coral preservation. And while the artwork was breathtaking, my eyes were on Eugenie's effortlessly chic dress. And apparently, I wasn't the only one loving the look. One person commented, 'Love that dress.' Another added, 'Beautiful dress and love the background song.' And someone else chimed in with, 'Beautiful dress Eugene is wearing.' She wore the Orchid Blues Midi Dress by Rebecca Vallance—a white halter dress covered in a soft blue floral print. The look was elegant, summery and perfectly suited for a seaside art event. She styled it with Staud's Brigitte satin mules in camel. If you thought the dress looked familiar, you're not wrong. Eugenie wore the same outfit just last month at the Chelsea Flower Show in London. That time, she paired it with the same heels, Gentle Monster's white sunglasses and Flattered's Clay clutch in sand suede—a bag she's been seen with before, including on Easter Sunday. At the Flower Show, Eugenie even twinned with her sister Princess Beatrice, who embraced the floral theme in a navy satin skirt with a white flower print. 'Such a lovely afternoon visiting the @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show, especially when I get to do it with my sis,' Beatrice captioned the moment on Instagram. So, if you're ever second-guessing wearing that outfit again—don't. If Princess Eugenie's doing it, I say go for it. Rewearing is officially royal-approved. This multi-year alliance tasks Scott and his influentialCactus Jackcreative collective with spearheading future campaigns, reinterpreting iconic designs, and shaping upcoming eyewear and apparel collections. Oakley's announcement follows other recent creative endeavors, including the recent Oakley xMetaHSTN smart specs. The appointment is poised to inject a fresh surge of cultural relevance into Oakley, capitalizing on the resurgent Y2K aesthetic and the enduring appeal of high-performance gear. For SS26,Louis Vuittonshowcased its collection on a life-size Snakes and Ladders gameboard in honor of the historic game's roots in India — wherePharrellhas drawn his core inspiration for the house's latest collection. Showcased at the Centre Pompidou, the collection emphasized commercial appeal despite bold presentation elements. Key pieces include refined leather jackets, sharp blazers, and spacious trousers, alongside audacious metallic and animal-print designs. Cultural infusions are evident with motifs from The Darjeeling Limited, and everyday items are elevated with hand-embroidered details. New accessories include the Speedy P9 bag and various footwear. The show featured an original soundtrack by Williams with notable collaborators. Prada's SS26 menswear collection, presented by joint directorsMiuccia PradaandRaf Simonsat Milan Fashion Week, signaled a departure from the conventional power dressing that the Italian label is known for. The collection, entitled 'A Change in Tone,' was showcased in an unadorned venue, embracing an introspective and poetic aesthetic. Designs subtly challenged traditional masculinity, featuring crisp shirts with high-cut shorts and tracksuits under formal wear. The color palette combined office attire palettes with bold blues, reds, yellows, and soft pastels. Tactile materials and playful accessories, like raffia hats, contributed to a blend of grounded and dreamlike elements, prioritizing suggestion over overt spectacle. Googlehas invested more than $100 million USD for a 4% stake in Korean eyewear brandGentle Monster. The significant investment signals Google's renewed push into the smart glasses market, specifically for its Android XR smart lens initiative announced in 2025 — a direct challenge to Meta's ventures withRay-Banand Oakley. The debut collection will be showcased at the Dover Street Market Paris showroom from June 28 to July 1, alongside other Spring 2026 collections. Future DSM collections are anticipated from 2026 onwards, with plans to introduce additional creators under the DSM brand. The collection launches July 10th via Levi's channels and July 11th on SNKRS.

Tackling ‘demi-ski', snow-time's most overlooked fashion category
This story is part of the June 28 edition of Good Weekend. See all 21 stories. I want to look stylish at the snow: what do I pack? Demi-ski attire is the most overlooked category, along with cognac-carrying Saint Bernards, when packing for a winter escape to the snowfields. There's mid-ski clothing, appropriate on black-diamond runs where footwear involves skis or a snowboard, which falls into the sporting-goods category, après-ski, which covers anything that offers camouflage to spilt schnapps or fondue and won't melt if you sit too close to the fireplace, and finally, demi-ski. This comprises items that can take you from chalet to restaurant without contracting hypothermia or attracting freezing stares from the local fashion police behind their Gentle Monster sunglasses. Loading Functionality with flair is your fashion filter for staying warm while looking hot, as demonstrated here by Jennifer Lopez in Aspen, Colorado. As J-Lo herself would say, it's about adding extras to the basics. Upgrade your urban, basic-black parka by adding a fur trim or lining. Break away from solid-colour knitwear with Fair Isle cabling and colours. And leave leggings made from standard Lycra in the laundry basket at home and invest in warm, woollen versions. The snug fit balances heavy outerwear and will stop you from being mistaken for a snowman. Footwear should be warm, waterproof and have enough grip to prevent unexpected snow-ploughs down steep paths. Meanwhile, statement sunglasses give you the rare opportunity to flash a logo without exposing expensive handbags to the elements. And remember to go beyond the standard sports-bar uniform of a beanie or baseball cap by adding a faux-fur hat for a dash of drama. Just remember to leave it at home before your next trip to the football.
