Pat Surtain shares his take on Bo Nix on Marshawn Lynch's podcast
Last month, Denver Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain went on the "Get Got Pod" with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson to discuss, among other topics, second-year quarterback Bo Nix. Nix surpassed 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scored 34 touchdowns last season while helping the Broncos go 10-7 and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Surtain, who was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year last season, came away impressed with his new quarterback. "He came in already like mature -- you know what I mean, like league-ready," Surtain told Lynch and Robinson. "Because he had all the intangibles. Like he could throw, he could run, he's smart. Seeing it live in effect, man, it was a pleasure to watch. ... He has a lot more room to grow, too, so that's the good thing about it. And he's very confident. I just see how, you know, his leadership really struck out, like how he's able to take command of the offense, take command of the locker room. You know, as a rookie, and putting that on his back, that's a testament to him and the type of player he is. To go out there as a rookie and put on the year that he had and showcase his ability, going to the playoffs, I think that's huge for him. And it's only going to build his confidence even more." It didn't take long for Surtain to realize last spring that Nix was a special player. "I could vividly remember ... one of his first passes in OTAs, he threw a no-look dime across the middle," Surtain recalled. "So that just goes to show you the type of player he is. And I'm looking forward to it again." Nix and Surtain are set to return to Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit next week for the start of training camp. The team's first preseason game (Aug. 9) is less than a month away (full preseason schedule). Nix and Surtain will look to build on their impressive 2024 seasons this fall. Breece Hall gets real on transition from old coaching staff to Aaron Glenn
The post Breece Hall gets real on transition from old coaching staff to Aaron Glenn appeared first on ClutchPoints. After leading the league in dysfunction during the wild fever dream that was the Aaron Rodgers New York Jets era, the team has made efforts to change course for 2025. New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is attempting to stabilize the woebegone organization. And his leadership has already had an impact on Breece Hall. Advertisement The fourth-year running back acknowledged just how difficult things were in New York during the 2024 season in an appearance on the Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch & Mike Robinson. 'It was very difficult having your coach get let go after the fourth or fifth game and then having the OC have to step down and all this hectic stuff you know. Organizationally, everything's crazy, it's going to seep down into the players,' Hall explained. 'I feel like now with our new coaching staff, new GM, we have a lot of stability and they're doing a good job of creating the culture and leading the way for us. So now all we got to do is put the work in and let whatever we're doing show,' he added. Breece Hall feels comfortable with Aaron Glenn at the helm John Jones-Imagn Images Last season the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after a Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. The drastic move was a desperate attempt by owner Woody Johnson to turn things around after a 2-3 start. However, the coaching change didn't prevent the Jets from having one of the most disappointing seasons in NFL history. Advertisement New York finished with a 5-12 record, missing the playoffs for the 14th straight year. The team has since embraced a complete organizational makeover, with a new GM, head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and quarterback. The Jets, however, still have the same owner. Hall racked up 1,359 total yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games last year. But his season was viewed as a let down after the immense promise he showed during his 2022 rookie campaign, which ended abruptly in Week 7 due to a season-ending knee injury. The 24-year-old RB is entering the final year of his rookie deal and, despite flashing remarkable potential, rumors of a Hall trade circulated over the offseason. At the time, Glenn added to the speculation about Hall's future by telling reporters he wants Jets backups Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis to be more involved with the rushing attack in 2025. However, Glenn has since spoken to Hall, easing his mind by dismissing the trade talk and telling the veteran back that he's wanted in New York. Advertisement 'I just feel comfortable you know I'm happy, I'm in a good head space. AG, he keeps it 100, like he tells you what you need to hear not what you want to hear,' Hall said, per the Get Got Pod. Related: Breece Hall breaks down what Justin Fields brings to Jets offense

Jets' Breece Hall Reveals Incredible Goal For 2025
Jets' Breece Hall Reveals Incredible Goal For 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. New York Jets running back Breece Hall is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and he's got a point to prove. Advertisement Coming off a season that saw him bear the brunt of criticism for the Jets' failures and seeing his name thrown up as a trade candidate, Breece needs a big season under Tanner Engstrand. And he's determined to get it. Speaking on the Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson, Breece knows what he can do, and it involves doing something rather eye-popping in 2025. "I can receive and I can run the ball," Hall said. "For me, it's not more so rushing the ball, it's just about my total output because I can be a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiving back. I feel like for me it's just more so about me getting my touches, I just need to touch the ball and I feel like whenever I touch the ball I can make a big play out of it." Advertisement Dec 24, 2023; East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA; New York Jets running back Breece Hall (20) run for a first half touchdown against the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium. © Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports That is quite the goal. However, with Aaron Glenn's desire to use all three backs, Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis, Breece likely won't be getting the number of touches needed to hit those marks. Christian McCaffrey did it in 2019, but he had 287 rushing attempts and 116 receptions (142 targets). Both of those are significantly higher totals than Breece has ever had. Hall has shown his ability as a genuine pass catcher, but he will be fighting with Allen and Davis for touches. So while Breece wants to show his worth and get ample touches, it might not be his decision. But if he does, we imagine that a nice contract extension either from the Jets or someone else will be coming his way. Pete Carroll Names Biggest Reason Why He Came Out of Retirement to Join Raiders
Pete Carroll Names Biggest Reason Why He Came Out of Retirement to Join Raiders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis fired head coach Antonio Pierce at the beginning of the 2025 NFL offseason after a four-win season in 2024. In a corresponding move, he hired Super Bowl-winning head coach Pete Carroll to replace him. Advertisement Carroll made previous stops with the New York Jets, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. After 18 years as a head coach in the NFL, however, he spent the 2024 football season on the sidelines, not coaching. However, he made his return with the Raiders and has spoken at length during the team's offseason program about how rejuvenated he is to be back. The 73-year-old is already making the most of what seems to be his final NFL head coaching gig. Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis and minority owner Tom Ward-Imagn Images On Thursday, Carroll broke his silence about why he decided to come out of retirement and join the Raiders. He revealed this information on an episode of the Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson. Advertisement "There was a little bit of interest you know, college too. There was some stuff going on back and forth. And the more I got around it, the more I felt the passion growing. The way I would say it, I was in the pursuit of my passion," Carroll said. "It has never been anything but fun. Fortunately, it worked out. You know, a couple of crazy things happened right around the end of it. But the Raiders thing when Tom [Brady] joined up, that really made a difference to me. That shifted my gears a little bit." Brady entered the fold for the Raiders last fall when he bought a minority stake in the team. In his first offseason with the franchise, he has already laid a major claim in the team's personnel decisions. He was integral in the hiring of Carroll, and signed off on the acquisitions of quarterbacks Geno Smith via trade and Cam Miller in the 2025 NFL Draft. Carroll spent many years as the head coach of the Seahawks competing against Brady on both the Patriots and Buccaneers. During that time, Carroll clearly established a deep respect for Brady, as he was admittedly a key cog in getting Carroll to Las Vegas.
