New York Giants' Bryce Ford-Wheaton carted off after suffering ugly leg injury

The New York Giants have stiff competition at wide receiver in training camp, with multiple players vying for one or two spots at the backend of the depth chart. Among them is prized special teamer, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who has dealt with several injuries throughout his young career. Misfortune again found Ford-Wheaton on Sunday when the receiver went down in serious pain during drills. He attempted to walk off the field but collapsed and slammed his helmet into the ground in frustration. The cart was called out for Ford-Wheaton as he was surrounded by teammates. More to come... Giants' 3rd-Round Pick Predicted to Surprise in 2025

Giants' 3rd-Round Pick Predicted to Surprise in 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Giants went into the draft this season hoping to add some depth to the defensive line. After the team drafted Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick, general manager Joe Schoen took Toledo defensive tackle Darius Alexander in the third round, helping to solidify the unit with early picks. Advertisement Alexander is already known as a stout run defender, and that's something the Giants desperately needed to improve on heading into 2025. Bucs Wire predicted every team's possible surprise from the NFL Draft this year, and Alexander is on the list for New York. "While all eyes will be on quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge rusher Abdul Carter, the biggest rookie surprise may come from third-round defensive tackle Darius Alexander," Dan Benton of Giants Wire wrote. "Assuming he returns to full health, Alexander will likely play a significant role for the Giants, providing depth on the inside and pairing with All-Pro Dexter Lawrence. It was an area of concern for the Giants last season, and Alexander is viewed as having huge upside and a high floor. "He will see an increased number of snaps as he develops and the season goes on." Advertisement Shoen also added Chauncy Golston, Roy Robertson-Harris and Jeremiah Ledbetter in free agency in an attempt to completely rebuild the line. Stopping the run is a priority for the Giants next season, and Schoen seems to have made strides in that regard. Alexander had 26 tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage on designed rushes since the start of 2023 - that's the fifth-most in FBS. New York finished 27th in the league in run defense last season. 2025 NFL draft: Big Blue lands several studs in Giants Wire 3-round mock

2025 NFL draft: Big Blue lands several studs in Giants Wire 3-round mock The NFL mock drafts are thankfully near the end. There are so many mocks by so many so-called experts we're at the point where the more you read, the less you know and believe. I've been covering the NFL draft for nearly 30 years and the Giants for 25 and I've rarely published a mock. With the Giants holding four picks in the first 99, I figured I'd give it a try. I used the simulator at NFL Mock Draft Database and pretended I was Giants general manager Joe Schoen. Round 1, Pick 3: Abdul Carter, LB, Penn State The Tennessee Titans, as predicted by many, selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward first overall followed by the Cleveland Browns taking Travis Hunter, the two-way Heisman Trophy-winning sensation out of Colorado. I figure Schoen can't afford to make a mistake here and has to play it safe, so by taking Carter, he grabs the best player on the board and a player the rest of the league would love to have. Yes, we know this is not a need pick, but as Ernie Accorsi used to say, "you can't have enough pass rushers." Carter would give the Giants a formidable front seven, perhaps one of the league's best. Note: There was one trade offer from the Las Vegas Raiders. They offered their first rounder (No. 6 overall) along with a fourth (No. 108), a sixth (No. 180)and a 2026 second rounder. Tempting, but as stated above, Schoen can't play around here. Round 2, Pick 34: Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama There were a ton of talented offensive linemen and other position players available but Schoen needs to nail dow the quarterback position and he does it quickly here. I believe if he doesn't trade back into the first round to get a quarterback, he'll take the best one available here. Milroe somehow gets out of the first round and past Cleveland at No. 33 in this mock. This is a jackpot pick for the Giants as Milroe checks all the boxes Schoen talks about and shuts up many of his critics at the same time. Milroe won't have to play as a rookie due to the presence of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and will benefit from a Giants' coaching structure that knows how to develop young quarterbacks. It also buys Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll at least two more years in East Rutherford. If you're Schoen, this is a no-brainer. Round 3, Pick 65: Quinshon Judkins, RB, Ohio State The Raiders come knocking again. This time they are offering their third rounder (No. 68), a sixth rounder (No. 213), plus a fourth and a fifth next year. This sounds like a good deal. Four bodies for one to move back just three spots. With the board flattening out a bit, I make the trade. Lo and behold, one of my targets is still on the board at No. 68. Judkins is one of many running backs in this draft that will compliment the rest of the Giants' running back room. He's a compact pile-pusher who can run in between the tackles and be an early-down bellcow back. compares Judkins to Joe Mixon. Not too many GMs would turn that down. Round 3, Pick 99; Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State This is the compensatory pick the Giants received from losing Xavier McKinney last year in free agency. The choices are abundant: Purdue guard Marcus Mbow, running back Cameron Skattebo of Arizona State, Florida State defensive lineman Jordan Farmer, and Utah State wideout Jalen Royals. Schoen whiffed in free agency trying to upgrade the interior of the offensive line. He ended up re-signing 35-year-old Greg Van Roten as a result. Mbow is tempting here but he's a little undersized and hasn't played inside in two years. The Judkins pick negates Skattebo, so that leaves Farmer and Royals. Since the draft is fairly deep with interior linemen on both sides of the ball, and we now have five picks on Day 3, the pick here is Royals. Royals, with his 4.42 speed on the other side of the field from Malik Nabers, would create headaches for opposing defensive coordinators. He likely won't last this deep into the draft, but since he did, he'll be wearing blue in 2025.

2025 NFL draft: Big Blue fix multiple issues in Giants Wire mock v.3

The New York Giants are hard at work coaching and scouting players at the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl and the 2025 East-West Shrine Game this week. They'll be getting a firsthand look at several of the country's top stars and elite prospects, giving them a leg up ahead of the 2025 NFL draft. Before those games are played and rookie class stock shifts, those of us at Giants Wire decided to compile version three of our mock draft. As usual, we used the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator for this exercise and left all settings on default. There were no trades, we controlled only the New York Giants and limited it to four rounds. Here's how things played out:
