Disqualified driver caught drunk behind wheel twice
A disqualified driver has received a ban after he was caught drink driving twice in a month. Kennedy Kipchirchir has to wear an alcohol monitoring tag for 120 days and has received a four year driving ban after being sentenced at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on Monday. Kipchirchir was previously banned from driving for almost a year when he was seen by members of the public hitting a cone and narrowly missing another car on 11 May 2024. PC Laurie Merchant from Gloucestershire Police said: "This case is one we are seeing more often unfortunately." More news stories for Gloucestershire Listen to the latest news for Gloucestershire Kipchirchir was breathalysed by officers in May this year and was found to be over the alcohol limit. A few weeks later he was filmed again by police driving erratically in the same car, and officers witnessed him swapping seats with the passenger. He was breathalysed and again found to be over the limit. Kipchirchir pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving whilst disqualified at Cheltenham Magistrates Court. He has also been ordered to pay £884 in court costs. PC Merchant said: "[This is] a case of someone who is banned from driving for either drink or drugs, and then continues to drive showing complete disregard for the road traffic law." Gloucestershire Constabulary announced the untimely passing of PC Ian Minett on Saturday morning whose death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. In a heartfelt statement, the force said: "We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett's family, friends, and colleagues, and we ask that his family are given privacy at this difficult time." The force's deputy chief constable Katy Barrow-Grint added: "Gloucestershire Constabulary is saddened about the death of PC Ian Minett whilst on duty yesterday morning (Saturday 21 June). PC Minett was a much loved and respected colleague who worked as a response officer and also served with the Constabulary for many years as a Special Constable. "At this point the cause of PC Minett's death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious and his family are being supported at this very difficult time. "We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett's family, friends and colleagues. PC Minett will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and worked alongside him. Please can PC Minett's family be given privacy at this extremely difficult time." South Wales Police have also expressed their sorrow at PC Minett's passing: "We are very saddened by the news that a Gloucestershire Constabulary police officer died whilst on duty this weekend. Known him my whole 18 years service and was a brilliant officer, much loved and going to be missed. My thoughts are with your family. The thin blue line just got thinner because of you." Sue Absalom fondly recalled the late officer, describing him as "a truly lovely, caring guy with a cracking sense of humour," and added: "It was a pleasure to have Ian on my team in Tewkesbury a few years ago. An absolute loss to policing." Adam Williams, chair of Gloucestershire Police Federation, expressed the organisation's profound sorrow: "All at Gloucestershire Police Federation are devastated to hear of the on duty death of PC Ian Minett." He continued: "I was lucky enough to work with Ian and he was well liked amongst all that had the pleasure of working alongside him and getting to know him. It is a massive loss to the shift, the station, and to the Constabulary as a whole. A force spokesman said: 'Gloucestershire Constabulary is saddened to report the death of PC Ian Minett whilst on duty this morning (Saturday 21 June). 'PC Minett's death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious and the Coroner has been informed. Urgent hunt for missing schoolgirl, 13, last seen in pyjamas as cops ‘growing concerned for welfare'
Breaking FRANTIC SEARCH She was last seen yesterday evening Published : 9:14, 10 Jun 2025 Updated : 9:20, 10 Jun 2025 AN URGENT manhunt is underway to find a missing schoolgirl. Nereah, 13, was last seen at 7pm last night in Gloucestershire, wearing grey pyjamas. She reportedly left a property on Legion Way in Brockworth, near Gloucester, on the evening of June 9. She has not been spotted since. Police officers in the area are "growing concerned for her welfare." Nereah is described as being black and 5ft 6in in height. She has also been described as being of medium build, and with shoulder-length braided hair. Nereah is reported to have been wearing a black coat over grey pyjamas, along with white trainers and a black handbag. In a statement of appeal, Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "Police are appealing for help in locating a teenage girl who has gone missing from Brockworth. "Officers are growing concerned for her welfare and are asking the public for any information on her whereabouts. "Anyone with information on Nereah's location is asked to contact 101, quoting incident 540 of 9 June. If you can see Nereah at the time of calling, please ring 999.
