Sue Absalom fondly recalled the late officer, describing him as "a truly lovely, caring guy with a cracking sense of humour," and added: "It was a pleasure to have Ian on my team in Tewkesbury a few years ago. An absolute loss to policing."

He continued: "I was lucky enough to work with Ian and he was well liked amongst all that had the pleasure of working alongside him and getting to know him. It is a massive loss to the shift, the station, and to the Constabulary as a whole.
"Our thoughts are with Ian's family, friends and close colleagues at this difficult time and we will support them as best we can."
