Is Taylor Swift behind Travis Kelce's financial rise? How dating a pop icon helped him catch up to Patrick Mahomes' $90M fortune
Travis Kelce's net worth has skyrocketed since his relationship with Taylor Swift began (Getty Images) What started as a viral moment in September 2023—when Travis Kelce casually invited Taylor Swift to a Chiefs game on his podcast—turned into one of the most talked-about celebrity relationships in sports and pop culture. But while the romance captured headlines, it also dramatically altered Kelce's financial trajectory. In just 18 months, his net worth nearly tripled, soaring from $40 million to a reported $90 million—putting him in the same league as his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. Travis Kelce's off-field earnings exploded after Taylor Swift entered his life While Travis Kelce's on-field talent remains undisputed, his skyrocketing earnings are largely tied to the 'Taylor Swift effect.' In August 2024, Kelce secured a two-year, $34.25 million extension with the Chiefs, including $17 million guaranteed. But it's his off-field hustle that truly transformed his fortune. Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce inked a blockbuster three-year, $100 million deal with Wondery for their podcast New Heights. That alone set a new standard for athlete-led media. Add to that an estimated $35 million in endorsements in 2023 alone, and the Swift impact becomes clear. His Pfizer deal alone was reportedly worth $20 million—more than his football salary that year. With brand deals including Bud Light, Nike, State Farm, McDonald's, Subway, and Papa John's, Kelce has become one of the NFL 's most bankable stars. NBC Sports even highlighted how Swift's influence added a projected $5 million boost to his annual endorsement income. A growing empire: investments, fashion, and entertainment Kelce's portfolio has diversified rapidly. He's invested in Cholula Hot Sauce, Casa Azul Tequila, Alpine F1 Team, Garage Beer, and Hilo Nutrition. He launched Kelce Jam, his own music festival, and even became the face of Tru Colors, the NFL's first player-led apparel collab with a team. He's also dabbled in acting, with cameos in Happy Gilmore 2 and Ryan Murphy's upcoming series Grotesquerie. Though Kelce's rise is impressive, Swift's financial growth has been equally jaw-dropping. Her Eras Tour alone grossed $2.1 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour in history. Taylor Swift Told Travis Kelce He'd Look Like a ‘Movie Star' in a Jacket, Claims ‘Lip Reader'
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Stanley Cup finals video proved she couldn't get enough of his look as they stepped back into the spotlight. The couple marked the end to their prolonged hiatus from the public eye on Thursday night, taking to the stands in Florida. Making a comeback, that too in style, a viral video showed them talking closely, and a lip reader has since revealed their off-the-charts adorable conversation. It seems Swift lovingly praised the athlete's outfit, telling him he would look like a 'movie star' in a jacket. A video showed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce taking their romance to the Stanley Cup finals while rumors of a secret wedding made the rounds. In the clip from Thursday night's game at the Amerant Bank Arena in Florida, the two appeared engaged in a stimulating exchange. A lip reader told MailOnline that their discussion was all things fashion and that Swift gushed over her man's choice of jacket. NJ Hickling dissected their conversation and disclosed the singer's sweet praise to Kelce. The Daily Mail shared that Hickling claimed the clip first showed the Kansas City Chiefs star initiating the talk. 'Yeah 'cos I'm big, they're quite good jackets,' he told his girlfriend, who seemed quite intrigued by his observation. Kelce then described the jacket and how 'it'll be tailored, has a hat and everything.' Swift replied, 'That's crazy,' and continued sipping her canned drink. He showed her something on his phone, and after watching closely, she said, 'Oh wow.' Following this, Travis Kelce asked Taylor Swift if she wanted that in the video, and she responded, 'You'd look like a movie star.' The footage finally concluded with the NFL star deciding, 'That looks like the perfect one.' It didn't come as a surprise that the Grammy winner sees Kelce as a 'movie star,' given his recent string of acting gigs. He made his acting debut on Ryan Murphy's 'Grotesquerie' last year and is taking on Hollywood brick by brick. Travis Kelce Wants to Open for Taylor Swift as a DJ: ‘You Know I'm a Hype Man'
Travis Kelce is interested in joining the DJ scene — and he knows exactly who he'd open for if he does. On the latest episode of New Heights posted Wednesday (June 4), he conversed with this week's guest, Shaquille O'Neal, about wanting to get behind the turntables, with both athletes agreeing that the tight end would be the perfect 'hype man' at Taylor Swift's concerts. The topic first came up shortly after Travis and his brother/cohost, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, introduced the basketball icon. Praising Shaq for his DJing skills, the Grotesquerie star asked him to 'teach me your ways.' 'You know what [would be] crazy? You opening up with your girlfriend. Bro, you'd be a f–king star. Ten minutes hyping up the crowd, oh my God.' Travis then laughed with excitement at the prospect. 'Come on, you know I'm a hype man,' he said as Jason cackled. 'You know I'm a hype man. Get it rocking in there. Have the Swifties bouncing off the walls before T gets out there.' With the 'Fortnight' singer's global Eras Tour ending last December, the Kansas City Chiefs star will have to wait until the next time she hits the road to put his own DJ skills to the test. He did, however, get a taste of what it's like to perform alongside Swift before her last tour wrapped, making a surprise onstage cameo during one of her Wembley Stadium shows in June last year. As far as being Swift's 'hype man' goes, Travis has plenty of experience in that department. The NFL star often publicly praises his famous girlfriend, from celebrating the release of her Billboard 200-topping The Tortured Poets Department album in April 2024 to commending her athleticism on the Eras Tour. The latest episode of New Heights was also no exception. Following their chat about his DJ ambitions with O'Neal, Travis later celebrated the 14-time Grammy winner's recent headline-making purchase of the master recordings to her first six albums, finally securing ownership of her back catalog after years of fighting to do so. After Shaq played Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' on his phone, the football player cheered, 'Shout-out to Tay Tay!' 'Just got that song back, too,' he added with a big smile. 'Just bought all her music back. So it's finally hers.' Watch Travis and Shaq's conversation on New Heights above.
