Travis Kelce Wants to Open for Taylor Swift as a DJ: ‘You Know I'm a Hype Man'

Yahoo13-06-2025

Travis Kelce is interested in joining the DJ scene — and he knows exactly who he'd open for if he does. On the latest episode of New Heights posted Wednesday (June 4), he conversed with this week's guest, Shaquille O'Neal, about wanting to get behind the turntables, with both athletes agreeing that the tight end would be the perfect 'hype man' at Taylor Swift's concerts.
The topic first came up shortly after Travis and his brother/cohost, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, introduced the basketball icon. Praising Shaq for his DJing skills, the Grotesquerie star asked him to 'teach me your ways.'

'Bro, I got you,' replied O'Neal, who performs under the moniker DJ Diesel. 'You know what [would be] crazy? You opening up with your girlfriend. Bro, you'd be a f–king star. Ten minutes hyping up the crowd, oh my God.'
Travis then laughed with excitement at the prospect. 'Come on, you know I'm a hype man,' he said as Jason cackled. 'You know I'm a hype man. Get it rocking in there. Have the Swifties bouncing off the walls before T gets out there.'
With the 'Fortnight' singer's global Eras Tour ending last December, the Kansas City Chiefs star will have to wait until the next time she hits the road to put his own DJ skills to the test. He did, however, get a taste of what it's like to perform alongside Swift before her last tour wrapped, making a surprise onstage cameo during one of her Wembley Stadium shows in June last year.
As far as being Swift's 'hype man' goes, Travis has plenty of experience in that department. The NFL star often publicly praises his famous girlfriend, from celebrating the release of her Billboard 200-topping The Tortured Poets Department album in April 2024 to commending her athleticism on the Eras Tour.
The latest episode of New Heights was also no exception. Following their chat about his DJ ambitions with O'Neal, Travis later celebrated the 14-time Grammy winner's recent headline-making purchase of the master recordings to her first six albums, finally securing ownership of her back catalog after years of fighting to do so. After Shaq played Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' on his phone, the football player cheered, 'Shout-out to Tay Tay!'
'Just got that song back, too,' he added with a big smile. 'Just bought all her music back. So it's finally hers.'

New Details Emerge About Foiled Terror Attack at Taylor Swift Concert in Vienna

New Details Emerge About Foiled Terror Attack at Taylor Swift Concert in Vienna originally appeared on Parade. Nearly a year after Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows in Vienna, Austria were canceled due to planned terror attacks, more details are emerging about the suspects and their motives. Swift was scheduled to perform three shows at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium from August 8 to August 10 last year before government officials learned of a planned terrorist attack. The shows were subsequently canceled and two suspects were taken into custody in connection to the crime. One of the men taken into custody was a 19-year-old with alleged ties to ISIS. The second suspect - a 17-year-old, was also inspired by the terrorist group as well as al-Qaeda, according to Austrian authorities. Officials revealed on August 8 that the main suspect began working on his attack plans in July. He allegedly posted online an oath of allegiance to the current leader of the Islamic State group militia, and, based on a raid on the suspect's home, he planned to use knives or homemade explosives for his attack. The Associated Press reported that officials said that one of the two suspects confessed to planning to "kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue." A third suspect in connection with the planned attack was arrested on August 9. The 18-year-old "comes from the social environment" as the main suspect, according to the AP. Due to Austria's privacy laws, none of the suspects have been identified. However, on Friday June 27, a minor identified as Mohammad A. was charged with allegedly supporting a foreign terrorist organization's plan to attack the concert. "Mohammad A has adhered to the ideology of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) since April 2024 at the latest," a statement from the prosecutor general read. "Between mid-July and August 2024, he was in contact with a young Austrian who was planning a bomb attack on a concert by singer Taylor Swift in Vienna." Swift spoke about the planned attack in late August last year. "Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows," Swift wrote in an Instagram statement. "But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives. I was heartened by the love and unity I saw in the fans who banded together." Walter Scott of R&B group the Whispers dies at 81

Walter Scott, who with his twin brother Wallace founded the Los Angeles-based R&B group the Whispers — a hit-making force in the 1970s and '80s with songs like 'And the Beat Goes On,' 'Rock Steady,' 'Lady' and 'Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong' — died Thursday, according to multiple media outlets, including Billboard and the Los Angeles Sentinel. He was 81. The Sentinel reported that Scott's family said he died in Northridge after a six-month bout with cancer. With a smooth, danceable sound built on sturdy post-disco rhythms and carefully arranged group vocals, the Whispers put 15 songs inside the Top 10 of Billboard's R&B chart; 'And the Beat Goes On' reached No. 1 in 1980, followed by 'Rock Steady,' which topped the tally in 1987. The band's music was widely sampled in later years, including by 50 Cent, Mobb Deep, J. Cole and Will Smith, the last of whom used 'And the Beat Goes On' as the basis for his late-'90s hit 'Miami.' In a post on Instagram, the musician and filmmaker Questlove described Scott as 'one of the most trusted voices in '70s soul music' and compared him to 'the talented uncle in the family….who btw could DUST you inna min w his dizzying blink & you lost him squiggle gee doo dweedy scatlibs.' Scott was born in 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas, and later moved to L.A. with his family; he and his brother started singing as students at Jordan High School, according to the Sentinel, and formed the Whispers in the mid-'60s with Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus Hutson and Gordy Harmon. The group spent time in San Francisco before Scott was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. The group recorded for a series of record companies but found its biggest success on Dick Griffey's Solar label. The Whispers were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. Billboard said Scott is survived by his wife, Jan; two sons; three grandchildren and his brother.
