British boxing legend's son joins ARSENAL as he takes next step in dream of 'becoming the world's best footballer'
Football has produced its fair share of father-son duos, from the Maldini dynasty to Schmeichels and the Haaland lineage, but what about when boxing enters the ring? That's exactly what has happened now, as the son of a British heavyweight legend has signed with Arsenal. David Haye 's 11-year-old boy Kingston has joined the Gunners' academy from Sutton United, where he was named the U11s player of the year in 2024. The Hayemaker even says that his son, a budding midfielder, aspires to be 'the world's best footballer' and is 'extremely dedicated to the cause'. High hopes and high praise from a father who knows a thing or two about sporting success - and rearing the next generation. Haye, who became the undisputed world cruiserweight champion in 2008 and later lifted WBA heavyweight crown, has also produced a rising tennis star in the form of his other son Cassius. Kingston's arrival at Arsenal was first reported by Mail Sport's Jeorge Bird. But it turns out that father Haye predicted his son's precipitous rise over a year ago when he celebrated the Sutton U11s award, writing on Instagram: 'I am incredibly proud of my son, Kingston. 'At just 10 years old, he has won the Under 11's Sutton Player of the Year award. He is part of an excellent team at Sutton, which has been instrumental in teaching him the essential fundamentals to one day reach his full potential. 'Kingston is extremely dedicated and is pursuing his dream of becoming the world's best footballer. Stay tuned!' Kingston will hope to follow a similar trajectory as his dad in his resepctive sport, but even imitating older brother Cassius would be a good start. Cassius, 17, has a 74 per cent win rate in tennis and is ranked 1,924th on the ITF Junior Tour. Celebrating his elder son's birthday earlier this year, Haye wrote: 'My eldest son had just turned 17... and I honestly can't believe how fast the years have flown. 'From a fearless little boy to a focused young man, he's now living on his own and competing full-time on the Spanish tennis circuit since last August. 'I'm incredibly proud of the way he's chasing his sporting dreams with discipline and maturity beyond his years. He's grown into a beautiful young man — inside and out… and at 6'4, he's now officially taller than me (not that I'm bitter about it). 'Big things ahead. Watch this space.'

Viktor Gyokeres lined up for dream Arsenal debut but first appearance delayed by Mikel Arteta
Viktor Gyokeres has completed a £55m move to Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon and it appears that he could make an instant impression against the Gunners' great rivals Viktor Gyokeres will be made to wait for his Arsenal debut - but it could end up coming against fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The Swedish forward completed a £55m move to North London earlier this week from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. He pens a deal with Arsenal having netted 97 goals in 102 appearances for his former side. And Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping that he continues that record at the Emirates Stadium. They will be made to wait to see Gyokeres in action for the first time though. According to The Sun, Arsenal's game against Newcastle in Singapore on Sunday will come too soon for Gyokeres. He has however flown to South East Asia to watch his new teammates in action. While he will miss out this weekend, Gyokeres has a perfect chance to make a mark, with Arsenal set to take on bitter rivals Tottenham in Hong Kong on Thursday. The striker has already underlined his desire to find the net as soon as possible for his new employers. 'I always want to score,' he said. 'To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can't wait. It will be an amazing feeling. 'I started here [in England], it feels like a long time ago. I think I've improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team. 'It's a big honour to play for your country, and then to score goals for them is amazing. When I played at Sporting, I scored a few goals in the Champions League so I feel that I can be on that level as well. Now to come here to a club on Arsenal's level, I think it's going to help me perform even better with all the amazing players in this team. I'm really excited to get going.' Following the clash with Spurs, Arsenal have a couple of other pre-season friendlies ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford. They take on Spanish side Villarreal before welcoming fellow La Liga side Athletic Bilbao to the Emirates Stadium just over a week before their season curtain raiser. Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta in the meantime will continue their work in the transfer market. Away from Gyokeres, Arsenal have already spent big this month on Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke from Real Sociedad and Chelsea respectively. They have also completed further deals for Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has emerged as their next potential target. Arsenal sign Valencia defender Mosquera
LONDON: Arsenal on Thursday announced the signing of Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, taking their spending during the summer transfer window close to £140 million (RM780 million). The Spain under-21 international joins for an initial fee of around £13 million, with performance-related add-ons, and is understood to have agreed a five-year deal with an option of a further year. The 21-year-old, Arsenal's fifth signing in recent weeks, is set to provide cover for William Saliba and Gabriel at the heart of the Gunners' defence, but can operate anywhere along the back line. Mosquera, who played 41 times for Valencia last season, has joined Arsenal for their tour of Singapore and Hong Kong. "It means a lot to me," he told the club website. "There's been a lot of hard work behind all of this. "It's an opportunity that came up and I couldn't let it pass me by. I'm joining a historic, massive club. When you arrive here with your family, you really feel the greatness of this place." Manager Mikel Arteta described Mosquera as "an intelligent player with good pace, who can play centrally and on both sides." Mosquera follows Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke in moving to the Emirates. Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also put pen to paper on new contracts in the off-season, with a long-term extension for teenager Ethan Nwaneri believed to be all but completed. Arsenal remain hopeful of signing striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon, although it is not believed a deal, which could be worth as much as £65 million, is imminent. The Gunners, who have finished as Premier League runners-up three times in a row, launch their 2025/26 campaign at Manchester United on Aug 17. - AFP
