Medivision 2025 opens to good response in Gadag

The event, spread across 105 stalls, showcases human anatomy with models and specimens. Doctors and technicians are demonstrating CPR and explaining body systems. About 30,000 visitors are expected over three days. Dr Basavaraj Bommanahalli, institute director, told TOI that the medical exhibition is aimed at students from class 6 to 10 and PUC science stream from across the district. "Interested public are also allowed to visit. As many as 105 stalls of 21 departments, including general medicine, psychiatry, surgery, ent, blood, liver, kidney, bones and skeleton, anatomy, obstetrics, and gynaecology, are installed here, and two permanent museums are sensitising students on human anatomy, physiology, and diseases. Medical students Susmita and Fasiha said that the exhibition is also focusing on nutrition and food diet. "School students are enjoying fun games that sensitise them through wheeling education, stomach, intestine, thyroid issues. They are eagerly watching a baby's specimen kept in formalin. It's a learning experience for us too. Students' questions are making us alert enough," they shared. Rita, Ashwini, Sanaulla, Vijay, and others from a local private school said that models and demonstrations are very lively and simple to understand. "It was helpful to understand our biology syllabus. We are also sensitised about first aid and precautionary measures to remain away from diseases like cancer," they shared. District minister HK Patil, Shirahatti MLA Dr Chandru Lamani, MLC SV Sankanur, Gadag DC CN Sreedhara, SP Rohan Jagadish, DDPI RS Burdi, and others were among the visitors. Exhibition closes by 5pm on Wednesday.

Govt giving priority to build a healthy society: Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao
Shirahatti (Gadag): The state government is contemplating operating all taluk hospitals in the state 24/7, and at the same time, it is giving top priority to build a healthy society, said Health & Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu was speaking after inaugurating the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a 100-bed hospital on the premises of the new taluk hospital in Shirahatti of Gadag district on said: 'Our goal is to build a robust healthcare system. The decision has been made to construct 100-bed hospitals in older taluks across the state. The construction of the hospital will cost between Rs 30 crore and Rs 40 crore, and the hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities'.He said, diseases such as cancer, neurological disorders, skin diseases and lifestyle-related illnesses are increasing. To curb them, the government has launched the Gruha Arogya Yojana. This initiative would provide permanent free treatment and help eliminate many diseases. Gradually, the taluk hospitals would be upgraded to higher In-charge Minister H K Patil said: 'The government is working to eradicate poverty from the grassroots level and is making efforts to provide at least Rs 5,000 per month to a family.'MLA Chandru Lamani said, Shirahatti is the taluk headquarters and since there is no taluk hospital, it was inevitable for doctors to work in cramped quarters. Karnataka Cabinet nod for regularisation of B-Khata properties under GBA
BENGALURU: Bringing much relief to harried property owners, the State Cabinet has given the go-ahead for regularisation of B-Khata properties that comes under Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and that were issued before September 2024. Law Minister HK Patil said the decision has been taken to bring discipline in controlling the illegal and uncontrolled building and layouts. He said a detailed order will be issued by the government on the parameters. According to sources, owners of B-Khata properties will get certificates which they were deprived and this is expected to give some legal sanctity, where they can sell properties, avail loan from bank and even mortgage. 'B-Khatas needs to be regulated & controlled' Speaking after the Cabinet meeting, Patil said there will be certain parameters to avail A- Khata. 'To avail B-Khata, there will certain parameters too. While A-Khata will be a perfect document, B-Khata certificates will be issued for properties with some lacunae, but with some exemption,' he said. He said this is also applicable to revenue sites too. A detailed order will be issued immediately. The note also specifies the unauthorised construction and unplanned development has led to issue of lakhs of B-Khatas which needs to be regulated and controlled. 'There is a need to bring B-Khata properties into the control and regulation of Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act. The Greater Bengaluru Governance Act prohibits issuance of B-Khata for unauthorised properties created or constructed after September 30, 2024. The concept of B-Khata was introduced in 2009 and therefore all Khatas issued before 2009 were A-Khata or proper khata,' it stated. Govt to withdraw de-notification of land Minister Patil said the Cabinet has decided to withdraw de-notification of land in 29 cases. The land was acquired by Bengaluru Development Authority and notification was issued by the government for the same. After the final notification, there is no provision to scrap or drop it. But some officials de-notified and action will be taken against them, he said.

Karnataka govt tells NTPC to scout entire state for nuclear plant site, rejects initial locations
The Karnataka cabinet on Thursday decided to ask the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to submit a report after carrying out a study across the state, regarding the location for the proposed nuclear power plant, following which it said it will take a considered view. The cabinet did not agree with three potential sites identified by NTPC to conduct preliminary studies for setting up the nuclear power plant. "In-principle approval was sought to set up a nuclear power plant in the state, along with permission to conduct preliminary studies at potential sites identified by NTPC. They (NTPC) were requesting to study three locations, but the cabinet did not agree with that. We have decided that let them study the whole of the state for possible viable alternatives and submit a report, so that the government of Karnataka will take a considered view," Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil said. Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, he said, "Now we have agreed that we need to have a nuclear project, but as regards the location is concerned, they have to study all possible alternatives and submit the report and we will take the considered opinion later." The three places suggested were in Vijayapura, Raichur and Koppal district. "They were not considered for various reasons after detailed discussion," he said. Patil said, to promote tourism in the state, it was decided that, the North Karnataka tourist circuit including Hampi-Badami-Aihole-Pattadakallu-Vijayapura will be developed under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer) model through Karnataka Tourism Infrastructure Limited at an estimated cost of ₹166.22 crore. Administrative approval was given by the cabinet to undertake 5 years of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) work of the Lift Irrigation Project to fill 126 lakes in Kolar district and Chintamani taluk of Chikkaballapur district with treated wastewater from Bengaluru city at an estimated cost of ₹128.00 crore. Also approved was the purchase of the 32 Mobile Forensic Vehicles (with Fabrication + SOC kits) for the Directorates of Forensic Science Laboratories at a cost of ₹20.40 crore. To develop a new textile park in Raichur taluk, Raichur district, under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a total cost of ₹24.50 crore was approved by the cabinet. The cabinet has also decided to merge the Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani (ASU) Drugs Enforcement Division and Testing Laboratory of the Department of AYUSH with the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA). The establishment of Dr B R Ambedkar Constitution chair in the University of Mysore at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore was also approved.

Cabinet rejects proposed sites for new nuclear power plant in Karnataka
1 2 3 Bengaluru: The cabinet has rejected three proposed sites for a new nuclear power plant in the state and directed National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to conduct a statewide study to identify a suitable location. NTPC had shortlisted a site each in Koppal, Raichur, and Vijayapura districts for the project but these have been shot down. Despite the rejection of sites, the cabinet agreed on the need for a nuclear power plant in the state, aligning with the Centre's renewed push for nuclear energy. Law and parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil said there were "several reasons" for the cabinet's decision but did not elaborate. "They [NTPC] must study all possible alternatives," he said. "We have decided to let them study the whole state and submit a report with a viable alternative." It set an ambitious target of achieving 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity by 2047, aiming to significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels. NTPC is now expected to conduct a comprehensive study of potential locations across Karnataka and submit a fresh proposal to the state govt. The cabinet formally received the report of the Justice John Michael D'Cunha one-man inquiry commission investigating the June 4 stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives. However, a decision on the report was put off to the next cabinet meeting. The two-volume report was handed over to chief minister Siddaramaiah on July 11, following a detailed probe into the incident during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations. The event saw a massive public turnout which led to a tragic stampede. "We will study and discuss the report at the next cabinet meeting, and we will communicate to you [media] decisions thereafter," Patil said Asked about findings or recommendations in the report, Patil said: "It is not known. It was the last subject at today's meeting." The govt constituted the commission to fix responsibility for the stampede and suggest measures to prevent such tragedies in future.
