Scary videos emerge Assaulting federal employees… In a post on Thursday, ICE said, 'This behavior is NOT protesting. It's assaulting federal employees while they're on duty. It's impeding federal officers. It's ILLEGAL. It's DANGEROUS. And it will NOT stop us from enforcing immigration law.' Many protesters argue that ICE should operate more transparently. They've called for agents to wear proper uniforms and stop using unmarked vehicles during raids, according to New York Post. California passed legislation for immigration officers After earlier protests in Los Angeles, California passed legislation that would prevent immigration officers from covering their faces to hide their identities. Similar bills have started showing up in other Democrat-led states. Senators Cory Booker from New Jersey and Alex Padilla from California recently introduced a bill in the Senate called the VISIBLE Act short for Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement which would create a nationwide rule for clearer identification of immigration officers.

Feds arrest 36 Chinese, Taiwanese citizens in SoCal underground nightclub raid
LOS ANGELES - Federal agents raided a nightclub early Friday and arrested 36 Chinese and Taiwanese citizens suspected of being in the country illegally, authorities said. Los Angeles Homeland Security officers, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and members of the El Camino Real Financial Crimes Task Force made the arrests during "an enforcement operation in an underground nightclub" according to a statement shared on X. A video shared by HSI Los Angeles shows an officer donning a vest in a parking lot before sunrise, before cutting to a daylight scene of a group of people huddled on the sidewalk outside a building, some with their heads bowed. Officers are shown handcuffing the individuals and loading them into white vans. It is not clear where the underground nightclub is located. Further details on the investigation were not immediately available. The role of the El Camino Real Financial Crimes Task Force in the raid was also unclear. The group is a multi-agency initiative of federal and state investigators focused on financial crimes in Southern California. Members include HSI Los Angeles, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California and the California Department of Justice. On Wednesday, an investigation involving the task force led to the arrest of 14 individuals - including San Fernando Valley and Glendale residents - who were accused of being part of a transnational criminal network that fraudulently obtained more than $25 million in COVID-19 relief funds. Friday's immigration enforcement action comes as ICE works to comply with President Donald Trump's orders to ramp up the pace of arrests and deportations across the nation. On Thursday, the agency announced that it achieved its highest number of arrests in history this week. On Monday, HSI Los Angeles arrested 12 Mexican citizens on suspicion of being unlawfully present in the U.S. after they traveled in a small boat from Mexico to Long Beach. In April, an estimated two dozen day laborers were detained in a U.S. Customs and Border Protection action outside of a Home Depot in Pomona. Earlier in the year, CBP agents conducted a three-day raid in rural parts of Kern County targeting day laborers and Latino farmworkers. Copyright (C) 2025, Tribune Content Agency, LLC. LA County DA Nathan Hochman promises crackdown on illegal immigrants: ‘The fun is over'
Tough-on-crime Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman is doubling down on border crossings and vowed that criminals will now be held 'fully accountable for their illegal actions.' Hochman, a Republican-turned-Independent, defeated incumbent progressive prosecutor George Gascón by a 20-point margin. Advertisement Gascón was considered by many voters to be soft on crime. 'I am standing at the border between LA County and San Bernardino County where criminals used to enjoy crossing in the LA direction, thinking that little to no consequences would occur if they stole, robbed and engaged in criminal conduct,' Hochman shared in a video posted on his X account on Sunday. 'Times have changed! The fun is over. A new DA was elected. And criminals in LA County will now be prosecuted and held fully accountable for their illegal actions,' he continued.' Hochman, a former federal prosecutor and lifelong Los Angeles resident, campaigned as a 'hard middle' candidate, rejecting both mass incarceration and the 'public safety failure' of Gascón's liberal policies, which Hochman said led to increased crime and a lack of consequences for juvenile offenders. Getty Images He also previously served as the president of the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission and accused Gascón of 'catastrophic incompetence' on the campaign trail and vowed to restore order and common sense. While in office, Gascón survived two recall attempts as voters voiced concern over his policies. He also co-authored the infamous Proposition 47, a 2014 voter-approved measure that downgraded most thefts from felonies to misdemeanors if the amount stolen were under $950, and reclassified some felony drug offenses as misdemeanors. HSILosAngeles/X Despite political differences between voters, public safety is a crossover issue, said Hochman. 'I spoke to ultra-left liberals, independents and conservative Republicans. And it turns out that even though they don't agree on much, they do agree that making sure that the district attorney prioritizes their safety and implements policies that will hold criminals accountable for their actions in a smart and proportional manner really matters,' he said.
