Shaq Talks Dallas Life and Drops Wisdom for Mavericks Rookie Cooper Flagg
Shaq Talks Dallas Life and Drops Wisdom for Mavericks Rookie Cooper Flagg originally appeared on Athlon Sports. NBA legend and Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal has planted many roots in the Dallas area as a business owner and is considering moving to Texas full-time. Advertisement O'Neal is familiar with the Lone Star State as he spent part of his childhood growing up in San Antonio. In a recent sit-down with WFAA, O'Neal made it clear he likes what Dallas has to offer as a place to potentially call home. 'I'm 75% gonna move here full time,' Shaq said. 'I have to see what's going on with TNT next year, but based upon that, you'll probably be seeing a lot more of me. 'People in Dallas have been very nice. I know about the Texas culture, but Dallas has been good to me. 'What I like about Dallas is it's a bunch of mini-Dallases. Legacy West, Frisco, Plano, Carrollton, Rockwall, where I live at. Fun place to be.' Advertisement Shaq is also intrigued about the future of the city's local NBA franchise, the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks selected Duke phenom Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and as a former No.1 overall pick himself, O'Neal had some words of advice for the incoming rookie. 'Just take this time,' Shaq said. 'The good thing about the NBA and our culture and Texas culture, they're gonna give you room to breathe. First year, we wanna see what you do. Second year, we're gonna be expecting something. After that, no more excuses. They're going to treat him right, they're going to teach him what he needs to know. I look forward to watching him play.' Between O'Neal's flourishing business ventures across the metroplex and Dallas' exciting sports scene, he seems ready to make North Texas home—and the city is sure to welcome the Big Diesel with open arms. Did genes or ancestry make the Manning brothers? Why not both?
The field of sports genomics is rife with argument, starting with the simple question of what athleticism even is. For every study that shows a relationship between ribonucleic acids and raising trophies, another contradicts it. The interplay of slow- and fast-twitch fibers that makes balance, concentration, spatial awareness, these are not traits like hair color. Maybe someday genomics will be a useful predictor of whether you're growing a Hall of Famer at your kitchen table, but for the moment, it's overneat to the point of uselessness. If you're going down the rabbit hole of athleticism, at least go down a more intriguing path that embraces the messiness and mystery: genealogy.

Shedeur Sanders Gets Major Career Advice After Speeding Incident
Shedeur Sanders Gets Major Career Advice After Speeding Incident originally appeared on Athlon Sports. No NFL rookie this season has a brighter spotlight upon him than Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders. He may not take a snap at all during the regular season, but the viral college football star has stirred quite the fuss since coming into the league. Advertisement Everything started with his shocking draft slide where the widely regarded first-round prospect did not hear his name called until Round 5. Then a ridiculous prank call scandal lingered through the opening weeks of his rookie program. Then in the last few weeks Sanders found himself in trouble with authorities after multiple alleged speeding incidents in Cleveland. Sanders has been compliant in dealing with these matters, but they provide an unceremonious distraction from the progress he's hoping to make on the field. Amid the craze around him, rapper and songwriter Ice Cube offered some advice and a perfectly clear warning for Sanders. 'He has great pedigree. He's the son of an NFL Hall of Famer,' Ice Cube said. 'So he's a great example of a kid taking the opportunity that's in front of him and running with it. Advertisement 'But don't go 100 miles an hour. That would be my advice. The Raiders had a player, his last name is Ruggs, and he was going over 100 miles an hour. He killed a lady and it ended his football career. So nothing good happens at 100 miles an hour. Wanna tell him to tone it down. Go 80, man. Go 85. But don't go 100. Slow it down a little bit, youngster.' Ruggs' tragic story is one glaring example of how immature decision making can take away everything a young athlete has earned. While the pressures of Sanders' situation are significant, they should never advance to such reckless behavior. At the same time, the Browns quarterback room has two veterans ranked ahead of him and a fellow rookie taken two rounds before him. Actions like this cause the franchise to lose trust, something so valuable for young players trying to work their way up the depth chart. Sanders' exact future for this season in terms of his anticipated role is not defined quite yet, but he should be well advised now to act smarter outside of the lines. That bodes well not only for his and the safety of others, but for his chances to enhance his role on the gridiron as well. Jon Jones reveals Tom Aspinall AGREEMENT after UFC fans demand Dana White strip him of belt
JON JONES has sent UFC fans into a frenzy by revealing he has an agreement in place with Tom Aspinall. The pair, 37 and 32 respectively, have been on course for a historic heavyweight title unification bout since last November. 4 4 4 Their mammoth melee, however, has yet to come to fruition - despite the UFC 's meeting of Jones' demands to be paid "F**K YOU MONEY." MMA fans have been left on tenterhooks by Jones over the last few weeks as the former pound-for-pound king has toed and froed with the prospect of retirement. The Hall of Famer claimed last month that UFC brass are aware of his plans and insisted he's not holding Aspinall back in any way, shape or form. And during a recent seminar in Phuket in Thailand, he claimed he and Aspinall have agreed not to divulge any details of their proposed fight or the future of the division before the UFC. In a video from the seminar, a fan asked Jones: "When are you fighting Tom?" The former long-reigning light-heavyweight king replied: "I was waiting for it. "The UFC, I, and Tom we all have a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes. They're one of the biggest organisations in sports. "Right now, Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements, so I legally can't really talk about it.' JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS 4 Jones' comments sent UFC fans into meltdon, with many divided over his statement. One said: Holy s**t! I told all of you." Another said: "It's happening." And another sad: "Wait for the UFC to make the announcement… of his retirement! Will not believe it till I see it, thanks." One remarked: "Cant wait for Jones to beat Aspinall's ass and end this." "Another chimed in: "Going to announce he's taking a break and vacating belt." Jones' comments came just days after a recent interview in which he admitted he's undecided about his fighting future aired. During an appearance on Deepcut with VicBlends, he said: "I don't know what life holds as far as fighting and competing. "I do feel like I'll be a lifelong martial artist whether I'm coaching others or taking exhibition matches and things like that. Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements." Jon Jones "There's a lot of great competition still in the UFC. I do view myself as more than a fighter. "Being in my position, I feel like I have a lot more options than a lot of the other fighters as far as the ability to leave and return. "And so right now I'm just focusing on love, happiness, kindness. "We're at the quarter-century mark, and this year should be a really special year." Jones hasn't set foot inside the octagon since his Madison Square Garden mauling of Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November. Wigan warrior Aspinall, meanwhile, has been on the sidelines since his 60-second demolition of Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 last July.
