‘Failed' min Giriraj spews venom to divide country: Cong and RJD

Ranchi: Reiterating his tirade against the ruling INDIA bloc govt here, Union textile minister on Thursday said the chief minister Hemant Soren-led state dispensation was playing a "dangerous game" through its "appeasement politics" which is more lethal than the Emergency. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now hit back at the Union minister shortly after, saying he has a habit of "spewing venom" to divide the country and the communities. Talking to the media here, the minister said, "Due to its lust to stay in power, the Hemant Soren govt is playing a game more dangerous than the Emergency, which was imposed by JMM's ally, Congress 50 years ago." He further said, "Indira Gandhi's Emergency in the country led to the murder of democracy then. Today, Rahul Gandhi roams around with a book, saying he is going to save the Constitution. It's a mockery by the Gandhi family. Congress should instead hold apology rallies on June 25 every year to mark the Emergency's anniversary." Singh added, "The situation here is more terrifying than the Emergency. Jharkhand is becoming a state of 'Jamai Tola' as Bangladeshi infiltrators are the given red carpet welcome irrespective of the dip in the tribal population." Reacting to his statements, state Congress's chief spokesperson Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said, "Rather than spreading misinformation here, he (Singh) should ask the PM and the Union home minister why they have failed to contain infiltration in the country." RJD, too, came out in defence of the INDIA bloc and dubbed Singh as a "failed" minister. State RJD general secretary Kailash Yadav said, "Singh is a victim of mental slavery and has been a failed minister. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now " Earlier on Wednesday, JMM criticised the BJP-led govt in the Centre, saying there was an "undeclared emergency in the country since 2014". Notably, the BJP has stepped up its attack against Congress over the 50th anniversary of the Emergency across the country.

BJP stages statewide protest in Jharkhand, accuses Hemant govt of institutionalised corruption

Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday held protests across all 264 blocks of Jharkhand, launching a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren-led government. The party alleged widespread corruption, administrative failure, and deterioration in the law and order situation across the state. During the demonstrations, BJP leaders targeted the state government for irregularities in development schemes, rampant illegal mining, worsening public infrastructure, and poor conditions in government hospitals. Issues related to roads, electricity, and drinking water were also raised prominently during the protest. After the protest, BJP workers submitted memoranda -- addressed to the Deputy Commissioners -- through Block Development Officers (BDOs), listing their demands and grievances. BJP state President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi led the protest in the Gawan block of Giridih district. Addressing a gathering outside the block office, Marandi alleged, 'Under Hemant Soren's rule, government offices have turned into dens of corruption. Today's protest is just the beginning. If corruption does not stop, our agitation will intensify across the state.' He further accused the state government of shielding criminals, saying, 'People are living in fear. The law and order situation has worsened to such an extent that murder, robbery, and rape cases are setting new records.' Marandi also highlighted the condition of tribal communities, remarking that their plight has never been worse, despite the government claiming to represent them. BJP's acting state president Ravindra Kumar Ray led the protest at Rajdhanwar block in Giridih. 'We've sounded the bugle against this corrupt and incompetent government. Our fight will continue until they are removed from power,' Rai declared. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren led the agitation in front of the Saraikela block office. He said the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance had failed on every front. 'Senior citizens and disabled persons haven't received their pensions for months. Payments under the 'Maiya Samman Yojana' have been pending for three to four months. None of the major promises made by this government have been fulfilled,' he said. Elsewhere, BJP leaders led demonstrations in their respective constituencies -- C.P. Singh in Ranchi; Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu in Kanke; MP Pradeep Verma in Nagari block; MLA Pradeep Prasad in Hazaribagh; MLA Raj Sinha in Dhanbad; and former Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri in Chandankiyari (Bokaro). Similar protests were held across other blocks by party MLAs and senior leaders.

Jharkhand: Tribal outfits protest in Ranchi against construction of flyover near Sarna Sthal

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 4 (ANI): The members of tribal community outfits on Wednesday staged a protest in Ranchi, against the construction of the Siramtoli-Mecon flyover ramp close to Sarna Sthal, a sacred site for tribals. The members of the tribal community outfits staged a protest in the Tatisilwai area of rural Ranchi. Authorities have heightened security in Ranchi ahead of the Bandh, which was called by the tribal community outfits to protest the construction of the Siramtoli-Mecon flyover ramp close to Sarna Sthal. The tribal outfits have demanded that the ramp built as part of the Siram Toli-Mecon Flyover project from the Sarna Sthal at Siram Toli be removed. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pratul Shah Deo criticised the Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government over the protest by the tribal community, saying that this government calls itself a government for tribals, but today the tribal community is protesting and has called for a bandh. Deo asserted that the Jharkhand Chief Minister should meet with the tribal community to resolve this issue. 'Chief Minister has forgotten 'Raj-Dharma'. This government calls itself a government for tribals, but today the tribal community is protesting on the roads and has called for a bandh. The CM should meet the tribal community and resolve this issue,' the BJP leader told ANI. Earlier, similar protests were called by the tribal organisations in March, against the construction of a flyover near the Sarna Sthal. The protestors were seen burning tyres and blocking roads in the city. Sarna Sthal is a sacred grove, considered a holy place by the tribal communities. It's a site of spiritual and cultural significance, where devotees offer prayers and perform rituals to their deities, often associated with nature and the forest. (ANI)

Removal of 5.46 lakh women from ‘Maiyaan Samman Yojana' sparks row in Jharkhand

RANCHI: Removal of 5.46 lakh women from the beneficiary list of 'Maiyaan Samman Yojana' has sparked a political row in Jharkhand. The mass-elimination of such a large number of women has intensified the already simmering feud between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), accusing each other of exploiting women for political gains. BJP on Monday, made a scathing attack on the state government over the decision to remove 5.46 lakh women from the list of beneficiaries, calling it a betrayal of trust. BJP spokesperson Rafia Naz accused the Hemant Soren-led government of using poor women as a vote bank during elections and then discarding them once the elections were over. 'This is a clear case of fraud; first, they were given money by including them into the scheme to gain votes, and now they're humiliating them by calling them ineligible. If even a single rupee is recovered from these women, the BJP will launch a statewide protest,' said Rafia Naz. Hemant Soren government get votes by giving money to the women, but then extorts from them after coming to power – this is their real character, she added.
