NFL analyst names this Rams starter a potential trade candidate
The Los Angeles Rams aren't known for shipping out too many of their starters ahead of a season. Players like Cooper Kupp and Christian Rozeboom left during the middle of the offseason, either because the team wanted to move on from them (Kupp) or their contracts simply ran out (Rozeboom). However, with the draft well behind them and the 2025 preseason staring straight ahead, Pro Football Focus' Bradley Locker thinks the Rams could trade one of their starters from the past few years: tight end Tyler Higbee. Although the Rams have ushered in a new receiving corps in the past few years, Higbee has long been a staple of Sean McVay's offense. At the same time, the team's recent tight end investments could signal that Higbee's time in Los Angeles is nearing its end. Higbee was effective when on the field last year, turning in a 76.4 PFF overall grade with a 79.1 PFF receiving grade — his best since 2019. But the 32-year-old played only 128 snaps due to a knee injury and is in the final year of his current contract. The Rams' jubilation in landing second-round tight end Terrance Ferguson is eye-opening, especially because the team has searched for a coveted weapon for multiple offseasons. On top of that, Los Angeles returns Davis Allen (63.3 PFF run-blocking grade) and Colby Parkinson (66.2 PFF pass-blocking grade) as depth behind the newcomer. Los Angeles parted with Cooper Kupp earlier this offseason, and Higbee may be next in line. Ferguson is most certainly the heir apparent to Higbee's role, with one of Allen or Parkinson sliding in as the run-blocking backup. However, it might be unwise to trade away Higbee before the team really knows what they have in Ferguson. This past season proved that Allen and Parkinson could not step into a pass-catching role while Higbee was out with injury. So, if Ferguson takes time to develop, the Rams would be back to the same issue that plagued them to start the 2024 season. Who would want the 32-year-old Higbee, either? Former first-round tight end Noah Fant is a free agent, and the Rams have much more invested in Higbee as a piece of their offensive game plan than any other team. Keeping Higbee for now makes the most sense unless the Rams have a compelling offer on the table.

CBS lists five potential Dolphins TE targets following blockbuster
In a Monday summer blockbuster, Miami dealt away cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick. Miami also swapped its 2027 seventh-rounder for a 2027 fifth-rounder with the Steelers. The move reunites Fitzpatrick with the Dolphins organization that drafted him No. 11 overall in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. But, it also leaves Miami without the tight end that reset the Dolphins' record books in 2024. In his lone season in Miami, Smith registered Dolphins single-season bests by a tight end in catches (88), receiving yards (884) and in touchdowns (8). That's a substantial loss on the offensive side for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and head coach Mike McDaniel to operate without. Miami might not stand still, though. According to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are already engaging in conversations with other NFL teams about possibly acquiring a tight end. CBS put together a list of five tight ends that the Dolphins could now be targeting. That group includes Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet, Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo, Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer and Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee. Kmet caught 47 passes for 474 yards and four scores a season ago and he inked a four-year, $50 million extension ahead of the 2023 season. Andrews has caught 436 passes for 5,530 yards and 51 touchdowns over his seven-year NFL career with the Ravens. Okonkwo is entering the final year of his rookie contract after catching 52 passes for 479 yards and a pair of scores. Mayer has reeled in 48 passes for 460 yards and two touchdowns during his first two seasons with the Raiders. But, Las Vegas just watched Bowers morph into one of the league's brightest stars at the position and might see Mayer as a dispensable asset. Lastly, Higbee has more than 360 grabs for nearly 3,700 yards in his NFL career. Though a knee injury from the end of the 2023 season limited Higbee to just three regular season games in 2024, Higbee caught 12 passes for 112 yards and a score during the Rams' two postseason contests last season. At the moment, Miami currently has tight ends Pharaoh Brown, Tanner Conner, Julian Hill, Hayden Rucci and Jalin Conyers on the roster. Brown, an eight-year NFL veteran, has caught 72 passes for 751 yards and three touchdowns during his career. Meanwhile, Hill has 18 career receptions for 148 yards, including 12 for 100 yards last season with the Dolphins. Conner caught three passes for 16 yards last season in Miami. Rucci is yet to record an NFL catch and Conyers signed a three-year, $2.98 million deal this April with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent.

Tyler Higbee shares his thoughts on the Rams' TE room in 2025
Tyler Higbee shares his thoughts on the Rams' TE room in 2025 The Los Angeles Rams have a crowded tight end room in 2025. Not only is Tyler Higbee fully recovered from the 2023 ACL injury that sidelined him for most of the 2024 season, but the Rams also drafted Terrance Ferguson with the No. 46 overall pick. Backups Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen round out the positional group. While Higbee is poised to be the team's Week 1 starter, the veteran recognized how much deeper the group is than in year's past. 'It's honestly one of the best I've been a part of, I think, since I've been here," Higbee said during an interview with the team website this week. "Just top to bottom, we've got a lot of depth. I think it might allow us to do some things, get some more 12 [personnel] on the field.' He didn't directly address the elephant in the room, though, that Ferguson could supplant him at any point in the season. Ferguson is 10 years younger than Higbee, doesn't have a serious injury history and is almost identical in size. The two could certainly add different layers to the offense (the 12 personnel grouping Higbee mentioned, for one), but Sean McVay will eventually want to incorporate Ferguson into the offense more and more. That could be phasing Higbee out sooner rather than later.

Rams TE Tyler Higbee ranked among the worst starters in the NFL
Rams TE Tyler Higbee ranked among the worst starters in the NFL Tight end was one of the Los Angeles Rams' smaller needs this offseason following a season where the trio of Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen all finished with fewer than 70 receiving yards each. Granted, Higbee missed all but three games with an injury, but the point still stands that the Rams needed tight end help. L.A. tried to remedy that situation by drafting Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson with the No. 46 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after trading back from the No. 26 pick. But he likely won't begin the season as the starter, even though Higbee was ranked among the worst starting tight ends in the NFL by Pro Football Focus' John Kosko. Higbee came in at No. 26 on Kosko's list, right after Seattle Seahawks' tight end Noah Fant. "Higbee could be on his way out in a contract year after the Rams selected Oregon's Terrance Ferguson in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft," Kosko wrote. "He is coming off an injury-shortened 2024 season but has been productive when healthy. His 79.1 PFF receiving grade in 2024 shows he has good play left in the tank, but at 32 years old, his prime is behind him." Therein lies the crux of why Higbee isn't long for the Rams: He's older, injured and only slightly productive. His best season came in 2019 when he caught 69 receptions for 734 yards and three touchdowns, while Higbee's best season with quarterback Matthew Stafford came in 2022 when he caught 72 passes for 620 yards and three touchdowns. Ferguson is the heir apparent to the position and could even take control of the job early this season. For now, it's Higbee's show. The veteran will be crucial for Ferguson's development early on. The two could even see offensive packages together as Sean McVay looks to add some wrinkles for 2025. But at least the Rams have a plan for the position now.

Flags placed for Memorial Day ceremony in Henderson
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Veterans and families gathered at a Palm Mortuary in Henderson to honor fallen military personnel for Memorial Day weekend. Langston Higbee, the mortuary and cemetery general manager, is participating for the eighth consecutive year. 'We always take the extra steps to make sure they are honored,' Higbee said. 'We mark all the graves of the veterans in our cemetery. We have over 500 veterans who have been laid to rest here.' Marking their graves, the boys and girls of the Scouts. Their families say that planting a flag is a simple act that shows the scouts the deeper meaning of honoring those who dedicated their lives to serving their country. 'It's all community service and giving back and remembering our veterans and celebrating Memorial Day, doing a little bit of service instead of a barbecue,' Troop 360 scoutmaster Richard Prisbrey said. 'We enjoy coming out and supporting our community this way.' This Henderson ceremony is more than two decades into its running, this is the third year the scouts have joined in, and the memories continue to be special every time. 'Putting flags on your relatives, it's pretty special,' Prisbrey said. 'But seeing the veterans come out, seeing them get to enjoy the day. It's all good. I wouldn't miss this if I could, I would always be here.' After the ceremony, organizations gathered for a resource fair to inform veterans of the opportunities available to them. Additional ceremonies are planned for Memorial Day at Palm's eastern and downtown locations. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
