Tyler Higbee shares his thoughts on the Rams' TE room in 2025
The Los Angeles Rams have a crowded tight end room in 2025.
Not only is Tyler Higbee fully recovered from the 2023 ACL injury that sidelined him for most of the 2024 season, but the Rams also drafted Terrance Ferguson with the No. 46 overall pick. Backups Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen round out the positional group.
While Higbee is poised to be the team's Week 1 starter, the veteran recognized how much deeper the group is than in year's past.
'It's honestly one of the best I've been a part of, I think, since I've been here," Higbee said during an interview with the team website this week. "Just top to bottom, we've got a lot of depth. I think it might allow us to do some things, get some more 12 [personnel] on the field.'
He didn't directly address the elephant in the room, though, that Ferguson could supplant him at any point in the season.
Ferguson is 10 years younger than Higbee, doesn't have a serious injury history and is almost identical in size. The two could certainly add different layers to the offense (the 12 personnel grouping Higbee mentioned, for one), but Sean McVay will eventually want to incorporate Ferguson into the offense more and more. That could be phasing Higbee out sooner rather than later.

Ball put the Current (12-2-0) up 2-0 when she headed in a free-kick by Izzy Rodriguez in the 72nd minute. Debinha made her return from a knee injury, coming off the bench in the 66th minute. Louisville (6-6-2) had won its previous two matches at home. Ally Schlegel scored in the 68th minute to give the Chicago Stars a 1-1 draw with Gotham FC on Friday night at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. Khyah Harper scored her first professional goal to give Gotham FC (5-5-4) a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute. The diving header was assisted by fellow rookie Sarah Schupansky. Two ex-Commanders want Terry McLaurin in Hollywood
😭😭🤔🤔 So, did two former Washington players take a social media shot at the Commanders? Learning that veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin had requested a trade, former Commanders cornerback Emmanuel Forbes took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted the following: As you can see, Forbes, a corner, was actually responding to another former Commander, safety Kam Curl. The two were teammates with the Commanders in 2023 when the defense was at or near the bottom in most defensive categories, as the Commanders lost their final eight games, several by blowouts, surrendering the most points in the NFL that season. Consequently, Curl essentially said he would like McLaurin to come to the Rams. Curl hinted that he would like to have McLaurin again as a teammate, which is commendable, no harm, no foul. Curl had some success in Washington. A seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, he ignited hope that he might develop into a player the Commanders would re-sign to a second contract. However, Curl proved to be very ineffective, offering little force in the dreadful 2023 season. The 2023 film being the last the new regime had on Curl, they understandably chose to allow Curl to leave and sign elsewhere as a free agent. Curl therefore did not receive nearly the contract value that two years earlier it was believed he would earn. Thus, he was signed by the Rams to a reported two-year deal for an APY of $4.4M. Curl did work his way into the starting lineup, starting 16 games for Los Angeles in 2024. Forbes, on the other hand, was tweeting that he was laughing so hard he was crying, pondering perhaps if McLaurin could also become a Ram. Maybe he meant he was considering what was transpiring in Washington? We just don't know. Curl, though he didn't develop into what his first season imagined could occur, was a starter for the Rams, a playoff team last year. BTW, keep in mind the Rams gave the Eagles their toughest contest in the playoffs last season. Curl also had a career high in passes defended (9) and forced fumbles (2). Surely Forbes has not already forgotten that he could not even finish his second season in the NFL with Washington? He couldn't play special teams, he couldn't play the run, he didn't defend well in coverage at all, and with no role, the Commanders were forced to either keep him inactive each week or release Forbes, bringing in someone else who could have a role on the team. So they released Forbes. The Rams claimed him, he played in two games, starting one. Was Forbes laughing at what has happened in Washington, because he is glad there is friction as McLaurin wants out of Ashburn? For Forbes to be laughing, when he has enough work to do to perhaps even keep a roster spot with the Rams this year, raises the question, "How aware is Forbes of his NFL reality, right now?" Actually, I don't for a minute believe that Forbes is mocking Washington or being mean-spirited. Based on the evidence from Forbes' 1.5 seasons with the Commanders, he demonstrated friendliness, kindness, and good sportsmanship. In fact, do you recall how when the Commanders connected on the 'Hail Mary' to defeat the Bears, there was film of Forbes out on the field actually being kind to two of the Bears remaining seated on the turf, as the Commanders were jumping for joy, ecstatic with the unbelievable win. Here it is: Emmanuel Forbes Jr didn't get enough credit for his display of sportsmanship. #RaiseHail So, perhaps Forbes' tweet is nothing more than an immature guy who doesn't yet realize the best thing for him to do is stay off of social media, engaging all his energy and focus on attempting to improve enough to remain in the league and on a 53-man roster this season.

Hamby's basket with 4.3 seconds left gives Sparks 108-106 win over Storm 108-106 in 2 OTs
SEATTLE -- Dearica Hamby's layup with 4.3 seconds left gave the Los Angeles Sparks a 108-106 win over the Seattle Storm on Friday night in the first double-overtime game in the WNBA this season. Hamby put up a contested shot but Skylar Diggins' similar shot on the other end fell off the rim as time expired. Rickea Jackson had 27 points to lead the Sparks (12-15), who have won six of seven. Kelsey Plum added 22 points and seven assists, while Hamby and Azura Stevens both had 21. Hamby also had 13 rebounds. Cameron Brink had seven points, four rebounds, three blocks, two steals and five fouls in 12 minutes in her second game back after ACL surgery last season. Nneka Ogwumike scored 37 points, one shy of her career high when she played with the Sparks nine years ago, and grabbed 12 rebounds for Seattle (16-12). She became the sixth player to reach 7,000 points for her career. Diggins had 18 points, Erica Wheeler 15 and Gabby Williams 14 points and eight assists. Ezi Magbegor had nine points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. There were 14 ties and 12 lead changes. Plum's three-point play following her 3-pointer gave the Sparks a 69-68 lead, their first since ending the first quarter up 18-16. in the second overtime. Diggins tied the game at 99 with 18 seconds left in the first extra session before Plum missed at the buzzer. Jackson tied the game at 86 with 4.3 seconds left in regulation and Wheeler missed a contest 3 at the buzzer.
