Over 34 crore people given employment since 2014: Manjhi

Patna: Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron and Union minister for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), Jitan Ram Manjhi, on Monday told the Rajya Sabha that those who criticise PM Narendra Modi should know that only his ministry has given employment to around 34 crore people in the country in the last 11 years. "Some people say PM Modi only talks. But I must tell them that 28 crore people got employment and 6 crore have been registered for micro and medium enterprises through the Udyam and Udyam Assist portals since 2014," Manjhi informed the Rajya Sabha while responding to supplementary questions on the opening day of the monsoon session. The MP from Gaya said there is no dearth of money in his ministry and even small entrepreneurs like cobblers and people running salons were getting financial assistance under various schemes like the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. Manjhi also spoke about the digital upgrade and adopting artificial intelligence in the MSMEs in the states like Haryana to increase productivity and promote competitiveness.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi likens Chirag Paswan to Mahabharat's Abhimanyu

ANI 14 Jul 2025, 20:04 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday drew a pointed comparison from the Mahabharata to address Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan's criticism of the law and order situation in Bihar. He said that young leaders sometimes fail to grasp the full complexity of governance. Speaking to ANI, Manjhi said, 'Sometimes even trustworthy people don't understand the situation and make statements about it. Chirag Paswan is a good leader in the NDA, but he's young. Young people sometimes don't understand the nuances and make statements. Just like I said in a tweet today, Abhimanyu was described as a warrior and it was said that he would definitely break the Chakravyuh. He moved forward with all his might, but something was lacking - he didn't understand that he shouldn't have entered it like that.' Manjhi was responding to Chirag Paswan's recent remarks amid rising incidents of violent crimes in Bihar, where the latter questioned how many more lives the people of the state would have to sacrifice. Reacting to tweets and statements by RJD leaders, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, Manjhi said,'Lalu Prasad Yadav has no right to speak on the law and order situation in Bihar. The law and order situation in Bihar is not as bad as in other states. Quick action is taken to control the law and order situation in Bihar. It seems that the incidents happening in Bihar right now are politically motivated. Why did such incidents not happen before?' On the issue of NDA's pending seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Assembly elections and Chirag Paswan's earlier assertion that LJP(RV) is preparing to contest all 243 seats. 'I don't take his statement otherwise because every party works on the ground, not thinking they'll contest only two or three seats - they work for all the seats,' Manjhi said. (ANI)

'Sword today, AK-47 next?': Union minister Jitan Manjhi on Lalu Yadav's birthday celebration; says 'this is when he's not in power'

Jitan Ram Manjhi (File photo) NEW DELHI: Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Wednesday took a dig at Lalu Prasad Yadav , saying that the RJD supremo would celebrate his future birthdays by blowing up the cake with an AK-47, if the latter's son Tejashwi Yadav comes to power. Manjhi was reacting to a video of Yadav celebrating his birthday by cutting the cake with a sword. The ex-Bihar CM turned 78 on Wednesday. "Those who divide the society will never change their ways. Today, when he (Lalu Yadav) is not in government, is cutting the cake with a sword. If by mistake his son (Tejashwi) becomes something big, then the cake will be blown up with an AK-47. Isn't it Lalu ji?," the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief posted on X, along with a clip of the ex-Bihar chief minister's birthday celebration. Tejashwi Yadav, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar, will lead the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan against the ruling National Democratic Alliance, of which Manjhi's party is a constituent, in the assembly elections due later this year. As RJD is the largest member of the Mahagathbandhan, the 35-year-old is likely to be the opposition coalition's chief ministerial pick if it wins the polls. Lalu Yadav's birthday celebration In the now-viral video, the former railway minister is seen cutting a cake with his family and RJD workers. He celebrated the occasion at the residence of his wife and former Bihar CM, Rabri Devi. He also cut another 78-pound cake brought by the party workers with a sword at 10 Circular Road, Rabri Devi's official residence in state capital Patna. A large number of RJD workers gathered outside 10 Circular Road to celebrate the birthday of their party's supremo.
