New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday drew a pointed comparison from the Mahabharata to address Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan's criticism of the law and order situation in Bihar. He said that young leaders sometimes fail to grasp the full complexity of governance.
Speaking to ANI, Manjhi said, 'Sometimes even trustworthy people don't understand the situation and make statements about it. Chirag Paswan is a good leader in the NDA, but he's young. Young people sometimes don't understand the nuances and make statements. Just like I said in a tweet today, Abhimanyu was described as a warrior and it was said that he would definitely break the Chakravyuh. He moved forward with all his might, but something was lacking - he didn't understand that he shouldn't have entered it like that.'
Manjhi was responding to Chirag Paswan's recent remarks amid rising incidents of violent crimes in Bihar, where the latter questioned how many more lives the people of the state would have to sacrifice.
Reacting to tweets and statements by RJD leaders, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, Manjhi said,'Lalu Prasad Yadav has no right to speak on the law and order situation in Bihar. The law and order situation in Bihar is not as bad as in other states. Quick action is taken to control the law and order situation in Bihar. It seems that the incidents happening in Bihar right now are politically motivated. Why did such incidents not happen before?'
On the issue of NDA's pending seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Assembly elections and Chirag Paswan's earlier assertion that LJP(RV) is preparing to contest all 243 seats. 'I don't take his statement otherwise because every party works on the ground, not thinking they'll contest only two or three seats - they work for all the seats,' Manjhi said. (ANI)

We want to take water till Chittoor district. We will complete the Adivipalli reservoir and take water from Handri to Neeva branch canal,' he said. They will provide water to Chittoor next year, he added. 'The water that starts from the footsteps of Mallanna (Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna swamy temple at Srisailam) will be taken to Venkanna (Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala) at Tirupati. This is not just inter-linking of rivers but also Gods. We will prepare plans accordingly,' he said. Mr. Naidu reiterated that the promise of free bus ride to women would also be fulfilled and they would also extend financial assistance to the unemployed as promised. The Chief Minister recalled launching the Handri-Neeva project in 1995 at Uravakonda, a 554-km-long canal many once called impossible. He highlighted sanctioning ₹3,890 crore for canal expansion, completed in just 100 days. Mr. Naidu promised that within 10-15 days, water will reach the last villages and all reservoirs in drought-prone Rayalaseema will be filled.

'GOI, which has since the beginning of the case been rendering all possible assistance in the matter, has made concerted efforts in recent days to seek more time for the family of Ms. Nimisha Priya to reach a mutually agreeable solution with the other party. Despite the sensitivities involved, Indian officials have been in regular touch with the local jail authorities and the prosecutor's office, leading to securing this postponement,' it added. The 37-year-old nurse from Kerala was set to be executed on July 16 after a trial court in Yemen convicted her of killing a Yemeni national, a decision that the country's Supreme Judicial Council upheld in November 2023. Earlier on Monday, while giving the Union Government's submission on the case in the Supreme Court the Attorney General of India (AGI) stated that the Indian government is making every possible effort to help Priya. He further informed the Court that talks are ongoing with Yemeni authorities, including the public prosecutor handling Priya's case, to secure a suspension of the execution order until negotiations can be pursued. However, the AGI also admitted that the Indian government's ability to intervene is limited, describing it as 'a very complex issue', adding, 'there's no way we can know what's happening (in Yemen).' 'There's nothing much that we can do… It's not like any other part of the world (where possible negotiations can be carried out),' the AGI stated. Hearing the Central government's submission, Justice Sandeep Mehta expressed deep concern and remarked that it would be 'very sad if she (Priya) were to lose her life.'.
