HIROSHIMA (Kyodo) -- Teruaki Sato homered and drove in two runs as the Hanshin Tigers beat the Hiroshima Carp 3-1 on Wednesday to extend their season-high winning streak to 10 games. Sato hit his Japanese baseball-leading 22nd home run of the season in the second inning and broke a 1-1 tie in the third with an RBI grounder at Mazda Stadium. Hanshin left-hander Kotaro Otake (5-1) allowed one run in 5-2/3 innings for the win. Daichi Osera (3-5) took the loss. Shota Morishita tripled in an insurance run in the seventh. Among the day's other games, Franmil Reyes hit a grand slam in the Nippon Ham Fighters' 13-1 rout of the Lotte Marines. The SoftBank Hawks edged the Orix Buffaloes 1-0 after a pitching duel between Tomohisa Ozeki and Hiroya Miyagi.

KITAHIROSHIMA, Japan (Kyodo) -- Franmil Reyes hit one of Nippon Ham's three home runs to help pitcher Haruki Hosono pick up his first career win as the Fighters beat the Hiroshima Carp 5-0 on Saturday. Reyes' two-run homer, his Pacific League-leading 14th of the season, pushed Nippon Ham's lead to 3-0 in the third inning of the interleague game at Es Con Field Hokkaido, just outside Sapporo. Yuki Nomura also drove in two runs for the team managed by former New York Mets and San Francisco Giants outfielder Tsuyoshi Shinjo, with a homer in the second and a triple in the seventh. Hosono (1-1) struck out eight and allowed only two hits over six innings. Hiroki Tokoda (6-5) took the loss. Among the day's other games, the Seibu Lions edged the Chunichi Dragons 2-1, while the Yakult Swallows blanked the Lotte Marines 5-0.

CHICAGO (Kyodo) -- Chicago Cubs designated hitter Seiya Suzuki opened the scoring with a first-inning double in a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday, their fourth straight victory. Suzuki picked up his major league-leading 51st RBI of the season before teammate Pete Crow-Armstrong homered to make it 2-0 in the fourth at Wrigley Field, driving in his 50th run. The former Hiroshima Carp star has extended his hitting streak to nine games. He now has 26 RBIs in May. Among other Japanese players, Los Angeles Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (1-5) allowed one run in five innings of work in a 1-0 loss to the New York Yankees. Shohei Ohtani went hitless in three at-bats with a walk and a strikeout in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 7-4 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.

KANAZAWA, Japan (Kyodo) -- Riku Masuda drove in two runs with a homer and a double to back a solid outing by Iori Yamasaki as the Yomiuri Giants beat the Hiroshima Carp 4-1 on Wednesday. Solo home runs by Masuda and Trey Cabbage turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 Yomiuri lead in the bottom of the first inning. Masuda also made it 3-1 with an RBI double in a two-run seventh at Ishikawa Prefectural Stadium. Yamasaki (6-1) held the Carp to one run in 6-1/3 innings, striking out seven. Raidel Martinez picked up his 19th save. Daichi Osera (2-3) took the loss. Among Wednesday's other games, Ukyo Shuto hit a walk-off double to give the SoftBank Hawks a 2-1 win over the Pacific League-leading Nippon Ham Fighters. The Seibu Lions blanked the Rakuten Eagles 6-0.

NISHINOMIYA, Japan (Kyodo) -- Kotaro Otake pitched 7-1/3 solid innings and Yusuke Oyama doubled in two runs as the Hanshin Tigers regained the Central League lead with a 5-2 win over the Hiroshima Carp on Saturday. Otake (1-1) had a shutout until he gave up a two-run homer to Elehuris Montero with one out in the eighth at Koshien Stadium. The left-hander held Hiroshima to four hits without a walk. Oyama's two-run double off Hiroki Tokoda (4-3) pushed Hanshin's lead to 4-0 in the fifth. Tigers leadoff man Koji Chikamoto went 5-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. Suguru Iwazaki picked up his 100th career save and 11th of the season. The Carp saw their winning streak end at four games and dropped to second place. Among the day's other games, Natsuo Takizawa capped his four-hit game with a walk-off single in the 10th inning, giving the Seibu Lions a 3-2 victory over the Orix Buffaloes. The SoftBank Hawks held off the Rakuten Eagles 2-1.
