Yemen's Houthis reaffirm 'unwavering stance' on Gaza

Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, Yemen's Houthi-aligned Coalition of Anti-Aggression Political Parties reaffirmed the country's commitment to supporting Gaza amid what it described as 'continued Israeli and US assault.' Speaking to Shafaq News, Adel Rajeh, a member of the coalition's executive committee, described Yemen's backing for Gaza as an 'unwavering stance' adopted by Yemen's leadership, represented by Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, and widely shared by both the armed forces and the broader population. He also warned that the current path of military and logistical support would continue, with air and maritime restrictions remaining in effect. 'An escalation in military activity should be expected in the coming days as part of efforts to secure a full halt to the aggression on Gaza and the lifting of the imposed blockade.' The announcement comes amid a series of cross-border attacks from Yemen in recent months, with Houthi forces operating in the context of the ongoing war in Gaza, where Israeli hostilities have resulted in 55,998 deaths, the majority of them women and children.

Exclusive: Trump's Iran offensive triggers Houthi retaliation in Red Sea

Shafaq News/ Yemen's Ansarallah movement (Houthis) will resume attacks on US vessels in the Red Sea and any maritime corridors passing through areas under its control, a Houthi official announced on Sunday. Brigadier General Abed Mohammed Al-Thawr, Assistant Director of the Moral Guidance Department in the Houthi-aligned Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed to Shafaq News that Washington's direct involvement in the war has 'collapsed diplomatic efforts and mediation attempts aimed at de-escalation,' adding that Yemen remains firmly aligned with Tehran and will support it with all available means. The announcement came hours after US President Donald Trump confirmed that US forces had launched airstrikes (Operation Midnight Hammer) on three nuclear facilities in Iran. In early May 2025, the United States and Yemen's Houthi movement reached a ceasefire agreement after weeks of escalating hostilities in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The deal, brokered by Oman and announced by President Donald Trump, brought an end to US-led Operation Rough Rider and paused Houthi attacks on US-linked vessels.

Explosion at Houthi Weapons Depot in Yemen's Sanaa Kills Dozens, Destroys Civilian Homes

A powerful explosion rocked a Houthi rocket storage facility in the "Saref" area of Bani Hashish District, northeast of Houthi-controlled Sanaa, killing and injuring dozens of civilians while leveling nearby homes. The Iran-backed militia has imposed a media blackout on the incident. Local sources said that the blast caused significant civilian casualties, though the exact number remains unclear due to Houthi restrictions. The explosion severely damaged multiple residential buildings, with some houses nearly completely destroyed. Videos shared on social media showed massive plumes of smoke billowing from the area as Houthi-aligned emergency crews arrived at the scene. The footage revealed extensive damage to the surrounding neighborhood. The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who had repeatedly demanded the removal of the weapons depot from their area—especially amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeting similar Houthi military sites. Instead of addressing these concerns, the Houthis have reportedly cracked down on protesters, detaining several locals who opposed the presence of the weapons cache in their community.

Houthis vow to retaliate after Israel hits Sanaa airport

dpa Tel Aviv/Cairo The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have threatened Israel with retaliation following Israel's strike on the airport in Yemen's capital Sanaa on Tuesday, which the rebel group said killed three and wounded at least 35. The attacks 'will not go unanswered,' said the Houthi's political bureau in a statement. The Houthi-aligned TV channel described the attacks as 'Israeli-American,' though the United States has not commented on the strikes. The casualty figures were provided by the Houthi health ministry. Israel said its attacks on the Houthis, which in addition to Tuesday's airport strike included several attacks on Monday, were in response to Houthi attacks on Israel including a missile launched on Sunday that landed near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. On Monday, the Israeli military attacked the port in Hudaydah and a cement factory Israel said its strike on the airport disabled the facility and 'dismantled Houthi terrorist infrastructure' on the site, according to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Telegram. It said runways and aircraft had also been hit. 'The airport served as a central hub for the Houthi terrorist regime to transfer weapons and operatives,' the IDF said. In addition, the IDF said it had struck several power plants in the area, as well as a concrete plant north of Sanaa, which serves as a 'significant resource for the Houthi terrorist regime.' The Houthis said the two days of attacks on the airport and other infrastructure show that Israel's aim is to impose a siege on the Yemeni people. Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war for 10 years, leaving the country effectively divided.

Dozens of African migrants killed in US air strike on Yemen detention centre

A US air strike killed at least 68 African migrants in Yemen's northwestern province of Saada on Monday, in one of the deadliest attacks since Donald Trump entered the White House nearly 100 days ago. The Yemeni Civil Defence said in a statement on Telegram that the strike, which injured around 47 people, struck a migrant detention centre that housed around 100 people. Footage broadcast by the Houthi-aligned al-Masirah TV channel showed several dead bodies and wounded people at the site, as medical and rescue workers tended to the wounded. There was no immediate comment from the US, but a statement issued by the US military's Central Command before the attack said Washington's "intense and sustained campaign" since 15 March had struck more than 800 targets and "killed hundreds of Houthi fighters and numerous Houthi leaders, including senior Houthi missile and UAV officials". Yemen, the Arab world's poorest country, has been ravaged since 2014 by an ongoing conflict between Houthi rebels who control most of the north and Yemeni factions in the south who are backed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
