Hunter with a Scalpel – K-drama Episode 8 Recap & Review
Episode 8 Episode 8 of Hunter with a Scalpel begins with Eun-seo taking care of Se-eun when she has a fever. She tells Eun-seo she doesn't want to go with her father. At present, Se-hyun drags a suitcase from the man's house to the car, past the hidden cameras. She doesn't realise she's leaving bloodstains in the car. At the police station, Jung-hyun watches a video of a witness from the Blue Barrel case who was later dismissed due to her diagnosis of schizophrenia. She describes seeing a small child with spiky hair, which Jung-hyun connects to the girl from the picture. His colleague then enters and tells him how Chang-jin hasn't been able to visit his wife in the hospital for two weeks. This is largely because Jung-hyun took up work on the old case which is why the others have to work double shifts. In the morning, Jung-hyun gets coffee for Chang-jin and Seok-woo. He apologises to Chang-jin, who accepts and even warns him about another colleague who lost his job due to the Blue Barrel case. Jung-hyun promises not to let this affect his team members. Meanwhile, Se-hyun has taken the body to another location. She gets a call from her father. This time, she insists on deciding where he should meet her with Min-ho's remains. At the police station, Jung-hyun gets into more trouble for pursuing the Blue Barrel case. This time, Chang-jin stands up to their boss and tells him to let Jung-hyun pursue the case. When Jung-hyun leaves the police station, he gets a call from Joon-kyung from the NFS. She couldn't get through to Se-hyun which is why she's called Jung-hyun. She says the third corpse showed evidence of pancuronium as well. He then goes to Seoul to pick up the toxicology reports on the first two corpses and it confirms his suspicion — Se-hyun lied to him. Meanwhile, Se-hyun takes the car to a large, empty parking lot. Soon, Mr Choi arrives as well. He sees Se-hyun's car and is looking in the back when she hits him with a rod. She doesn't realise but Se-eun is hiding in Choi's car. She ties her father and draws his blood. She then wraps some rope around his neck and begins to strangle him. But she's interrupted by the truck's alarm. She goes to stop it and doesn't see Se-eun run and cut Mr Choi loose. He hits Se-hyun and begins choking her, but promises not to kill her. A security guard suddenly arrives, giving Se-hyun the chance to run away. She goes home and finds a blue bucket sitting in her room. She starts hearing voices and hallucinates her father strangling her, which then turns into a vision of her strangling herself. She runs out of the house and Jung-hyun finds her on the streets looking dazed. We then see Jung-hyun entering Se-hyun's house with some medicines. He sees her bloody shoes and the broken blue bucket. Se-hyun has washed up and he now patches up a wound on her leg. He then tells her a story about how he was wrongly arrested for a robbery. One particular cop realised he was innocent and found the real perpetrator. That's when he decided to become an officer, to catch the real perpetrators. He seems to know she's hiding something. He then receives a message from the digital forensics team. It says that the location in the photograph is Cheongun Port, which is close to where the Blue Barrel case took place. The Episode Review Hunter with a Scalpel Episode 8 continues the thrills and the mystery. Se-hyun's plan seems to work in the beginning and it's a pleasant change to see her get one over her father. But little Se-eun is just as clever and Se-hyun finds her plans foiled. It's a bit concerning how much blood she's left all over the place as well. Doesn't seem like the marks of a seasoned killer. Jung-hyun is now closer to the truth about Se-hyun and it finally feels like he has more skin in the game, rather than blindly conducting an investigation. The final scene brings the two together and they interact in a more meaningful way than they have before, which is also a good move, as they haven't had much of a connection before this. His involvement will definitely make things more interesting in the episodes to come. Overall, the short episodes are working quite well as the drama is able to fit quite a lot of development into the quick span of thirty minutes. The plot moves fast and there is plenty of mystery and tension, making this quite an enjoyable ride. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

Hunter with A Scalpel – K-drama Episode 5 Recap & Review
Episode 5 Episode 5 of Hunter with A Scalpel starts with a little girl named Se-eun celebrating her birthday with her mother when a man storms into the house and drags the mother away, beating her up. At present, Jung-hyun and his colleagues go through CCTV footage from both murders. Meanwhile, Se-hyun goes to see a new apartment. It's small and simple and she tells the realtor she wants to move in right away. Elsewhere, Oh Min-ho's girlfriend, Da-yeon, tells the cops that Se-hyun treated him quite badly. She even mentions the Nam Seung-hyeop case. We then see the realtor sitting and chatting with Mr Choi. She asks him to fix the lock on her apartment door because a new tenant wants to move in immediately. Mr Choi has a knowing look and agrees to do it later that night. He says it is his wife and child's death anniversary. After going through the CCTV footage, Jung-hyun decides to investigate Min-ho's route in Seoul. He calls Se-hyun on the way and tells her that her forensic office has been confirmed at Yongcheon Hospital. He asks when she's arriving and she lies, saying she'll come the following day. Se-hyun then goes to the spot where Min-ho's body was found in the suitcase. She sees a flyer on a pole that advertises a person-finding service. She then visualises the little girl dragging the suitcase there and sticking the flyer on. A flashback takes us back to the scene with little Se-eun. Mr Choi comes out of the bedroom and we see the mother's bloody body inside. He walks towards Se-eun but she suddenly grabs a towel and begins to clean up his bloody footprints. He looks at her curiously. Se-hyun then gets on a bus. On the way, she suddenly sees a vision of Min-ho and recalls the man in the bucket hat sitting at the back of the bus. At present, the man turns out to be behind her as well. He reaches out a hand and calls her Se-eun. Although, this seems to be a vision as well. Meanwhile, Jung-hyun traces Min-ho's path in Seoul. The CCTV shows the man in the black bucket hat walking in a different direction and then reappearing sometime later. Jung-hyun walks to a tiny alley where the CCTV footage ends. He comes across Se-hyun over there. In a snowy field somewhere else, Mr Choi waits outside his white truck until a little girl calls him inside, saying it's ready. He goes in and begins working on the body of the woman from the final scene of the previous episode. Jung-hyun and Se-hyun go to a restaurant and discuss the case. Jung-hyun says that the suspect knows Yongcheon like the back of his hand. Se-hyun then gets a call from her colleague who says that pancuronium has been detected in both bodies. However, she lies and tells Jung-hyun that nothing was found. On her way home, she tells herself she must find the killer first. Well, it's not going to be easy because a few seconds after this, she comes by a woman's dead body in the middle of the road. It's Mr Choi's latest victim, dressed in white, and featuring a severed foot which has been tied to the rest of her body with thread. She gets flashes from the past of the doll she had as a kid. She recalls stitching up the doll's limbs. Se-hyun then gets a phone call from a hidden number that turns out to be none other than Mr Choi, her father. He wishes her a happy birthday and taunts her about the murders. As he talks, Se-hyun hears a sound and follows it to find an open suitcase with some gimbap sitting neatly on top of it. Mr Choi tells her to eat and she makes it clear she's going to play his game — and win. She then eats the gimbap. The Episode Review Hunter with A Scalpel Episode 5 is the best episode so far! It's fast, thrilling, and incredibly sinister. The episode really taps into its horror side, particularly with Mr. Choi appearing behind her on the bus and the final scene where Se-hyun searches for her father through the maze of dark alleyways. The series also uses a nice technique where we see the past play out as Se-hyun and Jung-hyun are investigating. There are some elements here as well which add to the eeriness as a whole. The story doesn't pull punches with its gore either. It's great to see the show leaning into its creepy side and finally establishing the link between Se-hyun and her father. She doesn't trust Jung-hyun enough to tell him the truth yet and his character doesn't have the same intrigue as Se-hyun. But Se-hyun is now ready to take Mr Choi on and the final scene promises a murderous, psychotic ride as the two go head to head. Hunter with a Scalpel: Park Ju-hyun as forensics specialist in new serial killer K-drama
Lead cast: Park Ju-hyun, Park Yong-woo, Kang Hoon An ace forensics specialist is forced to confront demons from her past while investigating a series of brutal slayings in the new thriller Hunter with a Scalpel. Leading the series is Park Ju-hyun , already a veteran of serial killer dramas thanks to her turn in the hit K-drama Mouse Based on Choi Yi-do's novel of the same name, the show introduces us to Seo Se-hyeon (Park) at a crime scene, where she imagines herself as the perpetrator, who stabbed a drugged-up baseball player on a nightclub dance floor. Clad in black and clasping the bloody murder weapon with a distant look in her eyes, Se-hyeon strikes an unnerving tone as she elucidates in a dry monotone on the killer's slow stabbing motions and the thrill he must have felt while committing the crime. Play The detective in charge of the case asks her how she could know that. Her answer – 'Someone I knew told me about it once' – hints at the personal direction that the show's focal case will take.
