Hunter with a Scalpel – K-drama Episode 8 Recap & Review
Episode 8
Episode 8 of Hunter with a Scalpel begins with Eun-seo taking care of Se-eun when she has a fever. She tells Eun-seo she doesn't want to go with her father.
At present, Se-hyun drags a suitcase from the man's house to the car, past the hidden cameras. She doesn't realise she's leaving bloodstains in the car.
At the police station, Jung-hyun watches a video of a witness from the Blue Barrel case who was later dismissed due to her diagnosis of schizophrenia. She describes seeing a small child with spiky hair, which Jung-hyun connects to the girl from the picture.
His colleague then enters and tells him how Chang-jin hasn't been able to visit his wife in the hospital for two weeks. This is largely because Jung-hyun took up work on the old case which is why the others have to work double shifts.
In the morning, Jung-hyun gets coffee for Chang-jin and Seok-woo. He apologises to Chang-jin, who accepts and even warns him about another colleague who lost his job due to the Blue Barrel case. Jung-hyun promises not to let this affect his team members.
Meanwhile, Se-hyun has taken the body to another location. She gets a call from her father. This time, she insists on deciding where he should meet her with Min-ho's remains.
At the police station, Jung-hyun gets into more trouble for pursuing the Blue Barrel case. This time, Chang-jin stands up to their boss and tells him to let Jung-hyun pursue the case.
When Jung-hyun leaves the police station, he gets a call from Joon-kyung from the NFS. She couldn't get through to Se-hyun which is why she's called Jung-hyun. She says the third corpse showed evidence of pancuronium as well. He then goes to Seoul to pick up the toxicology reports on the first two corpses and it confirms his suspicion — Se-hyun lied to him.
Meanwhile, Se-hyun takes the car to a large, empty parking lot. Soon, Mr Choi arrives as well. He sees Se-hyun's car and is looking in the back when she hits him with a rod. She doesn't realise but Se-eun is hiding in Choi's car.
She ties her father and draws his blood. She then wraps some rope around his neck and begins to strangle him. But she's interrupted by the truck's alarm. She goes to stop it and doesn't see Se-eun run and cut Mr Choi loose. He hits Se-hyun and begins choking her, but promises not to kill her. A security guard suddenly arrives, giving Se-hyun the chance to run away.
She goes home and finds a blue bucket sitting in her room. She starts hearing voices and hallucinates her father strangling her, which then turns into a vision of her strangling herself. She runs out of the house and Jung-hyun finds her on the streets looking dazed.
We then see Jung-hyun entering Se-hyun's house with some medicines. He sees her bloody shoes and the broken blue bucket. Se-hyun has washed up and he now patches up a wound on her leg. He then tells her a story about how he was wrongly arrested for a robbery. One particular cop realised he was innocent and found the real perpetrator. That's when he decided to become an officer, to catch the real perpetrators. He seems to know she's hiding something.
He then receives a message from the digital forensics team. It says that the location in the photograph is Cheongun Port, which is close to where the Blue Barrel case took place.
The Episode Review
Hunter with a Scalpel Episode 8 continues the thrills and the mystery. Se-hyun's plan seems to work in the beginning and it's a pleasant change to see her get one over her father. But little Se-eun is just as clever and Se-hyun finds her plans foiled. It's a bit concerning how much blood she's left all over the place as well. Doesn't seem like the marks of a seasoned killer.
Jung-hyun is now closer to the truth about Se-hyun and it finally feels like he has more skin in the game, rather than blindly conducting an investigation. The final scene brings the two together and they interact in a more meaningful way than they have before, which is also a good move, as they haven't had much of a connection before this. His involvement will definitely make things more interesting in the episodes to come.
Overall, the short episodes are working quite well as the drama is able to fit quite a lot of development into the quick span of thirty minutes. The plot moves fast and there is plenty of mystery and tension, making this quite an enjoyable ride.

Farmer saves stranded neighbour with drone
A jerry-rigged drone has been used to airlift a man who was trapped on a rooftop in southern China by rising flood waters. Footage has emerged showing the young man being rescued on Tuesday evening when a neighbour spotted him calling for help from the roof of his crumbling two-story house in the city Liuzhou. Fast-flowing waters coursing through the streets had prevented rescue speedboats from coming to the man's assistance for the previous hour. The neighbour, who gave his name as Mr Lai, devised a rescue plan using his agricultural drone, a device capable of carrying weights of up to 100kg, which is normally used to haul bricks and cement or spray pesticides. Mr Lai fashioned a makeshift harness by tying a sandbag to one end of the drone's lifting rope and attaching a safety buckle, local media said. Safe landing He flew the drone to the man and instructed him over the phone to sit on the sandbag and to tie his hands and feet with the safety buckle to the drone's rope. Footage captured by a witness shows the drone then soaring 65ft into the air with the man hanging underneath, his legs dangling through the harness. The drone then navigates through trees and pylons before safely depositing its passenger on a road below. The rescue operation took less than two minutes. Mr Lai, who first learnt how to pilot a drone in August, admitted what he did was illegal but said he feared the house could collapse at any moment. 'I know that manned drones are illegal, but at the time I was worried about the house collapsing and was eager to save people, so I don't recommend that you imitate it,' he told The Beijing News. China hit by storms Over the past two days, 13 major rivers in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Hainan were hit by storms and had risen above their warning levels, state television reported, citing the Ministry of Water Resources. Record downpours in Rongjiang, in the south-east of the country, left six dead and forced more than 80,000 people to flee their homes. The amount of rain that fell over 72 hours was double the city's average for June.

Horrific moment rabid bear pins down terrified ranger and starts gnawing on his head before mauling two other men to death
What was meant to be a simple father-and-son outing to collect firewood ended in tragedy after a bear launched a violent attack, killing both men and leaving a forest ranger critically injured. Father Suklal Darro, 45, and 22-year-old son Ajju Kureti set off into the forest to gather wood in the Kanker area of Chhattisgarh in east India. But in an gruesome twist, their peaceful day out turned deadly after a rabid sloth bear mauled the father and son to death. A terrifying video captured the moment the tragedy unfolded and how the ferocious beast attacked forest guard, Narayan Yadav, who heroically jumped in to save the father and son. The video shows the bear angrily charging towards Mr Yadav as a man can be heard shouting: 'Don't run away!', while the animal gets close to the ranger. The bear then jumps onto Mr Yadav and attacks him before pinning him down against the forest floor. Pressing its massive paws on his chest, the bear is heard growling as it bites into a helpless Mr Yadav's neck, face and torso as he screams for help. Luckily, the forest guard escaped, but sustained severe injuries to his hands and was rushed to hospital, where he was in critical condition. But Mr Darro and Mr Kureti were not so lucky and tragically died as a result of the violent attack. Despite efforts from paramedics, Mr Darro succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, while Mr Kureti was pronounced dead at the scene of the attack. The scene of the attack was so horrific that officers had to use JCB's to remove Mr Kureti's body from the forest. Forest officers believed that the bear was infected by rabies. The horrific attack in January came months after a 28-year-old man was killed while two others were seriously injured after they were attacked by a sloth bear in the same state of Chhattisgarh. The incident took place on August 4, 2024, near the village of Badraudi when the victim, named locally as Chhablal, along with two pals went to collect wood. After encountering the bear, Chhablal tried to scare the animal away, but was mauled to death. His friends were also attacked and sustained critical injuries. Sloth bears are native to India, and despite their fuzzy facade, they are some of the deadliest of their species. According to National Geographic, sloth bears have mauled thousands of people and killed hundreds over the last two decades, making the species responsible for more human fatalities per capita than any other type of bear. A sloth bear's aggressive disposition, strong jaw and large canine teeth make them particularly deadly when attacked, either by humans or Bengal tigers, who occasionally see them as food. However, their typical diet is fruit, termites and bees. Sloth bears are under threat in the Indian subcontinent and they are often hunted for their meat or claws. Others are taken into captivity, treated incredibly cruelly and used as performing pets. Sloth bears are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, but they have often been used to entertained crowds by playing imaginary guitars, smoking cigarettes and dancing to the pounding of drums, providing an income for their handlers. Scientists believe sloth bears are one of the most aggressive species because of the large human populations often existing in close proximity to their habitats. In one of the most horrific cases, an Indian farmer died after a sloth bear partially ate him in a violent attack. The farmer is understood to have ventured into a wooded area of this property near the remote village of Madhugiri in Karnataka state when the bear launched its attack. Identified only as 45-year-old Somanna, the man is understood to have come face-to-face with the bear and, fearing for his life, attacked it with a machete. The beast retaliated, mauled the farmer to death and then proceeded to eat his remains. The farmer's frantic calls for help alerted a crowd, who then began to throw stones in the hope of scaring the animal away from the village. The bear then charged at the crowd, seriously injuring a second man, before police arrived approximately four hours later and shot the animal dead

Our Brit daughter, 15, was killed by boat propeller while snorkelling in Maldives…we're forced to investigate ourselves
DEVASTATED parents say they have been forced to investigate the death of their British daughter themselves after being refused support from officials. Jenna Chan, 15, was tragically killed by a boat propeller while on a school trip snorkelling in the Maldives. 2 2 British-Singaporean dual national Jenna was a student at St Joseph's International Institution and had been assisting the British registered charity, the Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme (MWSRP), in its research expedition. On November 8, the school girl was allegedly beckoned into the water but within minutes was "sucked under" when the engine was switched on. Her parents, Alan and Jennifer Chan, have said that more than a month after the tragic incident they are "still waiting for answers" and have "been forced to become their own investigators". As a state, the Maldives does not provide post-mortem examinations so the couple are hunting for information about their daughter's death "completely" on their own. Jennifer told The Times: 'We just want to know why Jenna died. There is no justice and we are completely on our own.' Alan flew out to the island in March to get hold of the hospital CT scans that were used by police to determine a possible cause of death. Jennifer, a surgeon, examined the pictures with her colleagues who she said were horrified "because Jenna's injuries were so horrific". The couple said they haven't even been allowed to speak to any of the teachers who were on board the boat at the time of the incident. They believe there was "no real investigation" into the accident, adding that there was a "chain of errors" throughout the excursion, they claim. According to some of the students, Jenna was reportedly instructed to enter the water while the guides tracked dolphins. The teenager was then allegedly "sucked up" by the engine before reportedly being brought to the nearest hotel instead of hospital. Michael Johnston, CEO of St Joseph's International Institution , previously wrote to the parents informing them that efforts to piece together what had happened to Jenna were being impeded by MWSRP. According to the school's boss, the company was "refusing" to provide access to their staff and crew for interviews. "We remain exasperated at their lack of co-operation," he said. Jenna's 17-year-old sister Alice has started a GoFundMe to raise awareness of the teen's accident and help with legal fees while the family fight for answers. The caption for the fundraiser reads: "My sister, 15 year old British-Singaporean Jenna Chan, was killed in a propeller accident during a school trip in the Maldives. "There has been silence from the Maldivian government and all news about her has ceased. "The circumstances leading to her sudden death and negligence of the company is truly shocking to our family and her teenage friends, who witnessed her death. "Please help support us during this tough time for our family and loved ones, and spread the word about her case. "All donations will go towards our fight for Jenna and protection of all future children and tourists, by providing our Maldivian lawyers with the legal fees and financial support to take more cases just like this one." We just want to know why Jenna died. There is no justice and we are completely on our own Jenna's mum, Jennifer Chan So far, £6,595 of its £10,000 has been raised. Jenna was laid to rest on November 15 in Singapore. A spokesperson for the young girl's school said that it had been "unrelenting" in its efforts to find out what happened and is still waiting on a report from the Maldivian authorities. In a statement, the school said: 'The school has been unrelenting in our efforts to piece together a full account of what happened. "The Maldivian authorities investigation is still ongoing and we have yet to receive their report. "The Maldivian authorities and MWSRP have not given us access to interview the boat captain and crew nor the MWSRP staff. These are critical pieces for all of us. 'I can confirm that the Maldives Police Service was in Singapore and with the support of the Singapore Police Force facilitated interviews with witnesses on May 27 and 28, 2025. "We continue to actively support the investigation. We have not and will not stop seeking answers and supporting those involved.' The MWSRP said: 'At the time of the incident, Ms Chan was under the supervision of two teaching staff from SJII and an experienced boat crew. "The emergency response was in accordance with our procedures and Ms Chan was taken directly to a local health centre.'
