Karbala readies emergency teams before Arbaeen crowds
Shafaq News – Karbala On Friday, Iraq's Civil Defense Directorate completed all preparations to secure the Arbaeen pilgrimage in Karbala, launching a comprehensive safety plan in coordination with religious shrines and Hussaini processions. The Arbaeen pilgrimage, one of the world's largest annual religious gatherings, commemorates the end of the 40-day mourning period for Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed. Millions of pilgrims travel on foot to Karbala from across Iraq and beyond to mark the occasion. The Head of the Directorate's Media and Relations Department Nuwas Sabah told Shafaq News that the plan includes pre-positioning medical supplies, training personnel, and deploying rescue teams along the routes used by pilgrims. The first pillar focuses on preventive action, including safety inspections of hotels and commercial buildings, and the removal of hazardous materials like flammable sandwich panels and aluminum composite cladding. The second pillar is field deployment. Civil defense and rescue teams will be stationed along major roads leading into Karbala to enable swift response in emergencies, especially given the high number of visitors. The third pillar addresses humanitarian support. According to Sabah, civil defense teams will distribute drinking water to processions and enforce kitchen safety regulations. Sabah also stressed the need for each procession tent to have at least two fire extinguishers, and that organizers should be trained in their use. 'Immediate reporting via the 911 emergency line is critical,' he stated.

President urges nation to follow in Imam Hussain's footsteps
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari called upon the nation to follow the path of Imam Hussain (RA) and not only reform itself but also base the governance system, social attitudes and national priorities on honesty, decency and public welfare. In a message to the nation on the occasion of Ashura Day 1447 AH, he said, 'The Day of Ashura is a bright and immortal chapter in Islamic history, which gives us a message of sacrifice, truthfulness and sincere determination.' He said, 'This day reminds us of the great martyrdom of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions. This day is a symbol of an eternal struggle against falsehood.' 'This day is not only an unparalleled story of sacrifice, loyalty and patience, but also a bright light that shows the path of truth and righteousness in the darkness of every era. The martyrdom of the Supreme Imam was not the result of any political or temporal expediency, but it was a divine mission based on truthfulness, justice and the pleasure of God,' he explained. He said, 'Not only a war was fought on the land of Karbala, but there was a test of conscience, character and the true spirit of religion. Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, by accepting the severity of hunger, thirst and death, gave a lesson to the history of humanity that time can never forget.' Sana'a - Saba: The local authority in New Sana'a Directorate organized a speech event on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein under the slogan "Far from Us is Humiliation." The event was attended by Shura Council member Fadhl Ma'an, Deputy Governor Jubran Ghubar, and Director of the General Zakat Office in the Governorate Abdulwahab Al-Tahaif.
