President urges nation to follow in Imam Hussain's footsteps
In a message to the nation on the occasion of Ashura Day 1447 AH, he said, 'The Day of Ashura is a bright and immortal chapter in Islamic history, which gives us a message of sacrifice, truthfulness and sincere determination.'
He said, 'This day reminds us of the great martyrdom of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions. This day is a symbol of an eternal struggle against falsehood.'
'This day is not only an unparalleled story of sacrifice, loyalty and patience, but also a bright light that shows the path of truth and righteousness in the darkness of every era. The martyrdom of the Supreme Imam was not the result of any political or temporal expediency, but it was a divine mission based on truthfulness, justice and the pleasure of God,' he explained.
He said, 'Not only a war was fought on the land of Karbala, but there was a test of conscience, character and the true spirit of religion. Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, by accepting the severity of hunger, thirst and death, gave a lesson to the history of humanity that time can never forget.'
'Their message is still alive today and it is a profound message of standing firm on principles, not bowing down to oppression and coercion and making every sacrifice for the sake of truth,' he continued.
The President said, 'Today, if we consider the challenges facing our country, we will feel that we as a nation are in dire need of the Hussaini character. We have to follow the path of Imam Hussain (RA) and not only reform ourselves but also base our governance system, social attitudes and national priorities on honesty, decency and public welfare.'
'We have to pledge today that we will make Pakistan a manifestation of Imam Hussain (RA)'s message of freedom and justice and promote brotherhood, love, tolerance and national unity,' he added.
He said, 'I pray to Almighty Allah to grant us the ability to follow the path of Imam Hussain (RA). May Allah instill in our hearts the spirit of faith, courage, piety, patience and sacrifice and make our country Pakistan a cradle of stability, prosperity and mutual love, Amen.'

LAHORE: On directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all provincial ministers actively engaged in their relevant divisions to ensure continuous monitoring of Muharram-ul-Haram processions in the province. Administration, Police, Rescue and other institutions are in good sync and cooperation for the purpose. The Chief Minister said, 'In view of the heat and humidity, cold water is also being sprinkled on the routes of gatherings and processions. Dangled wires have been removed from the route of processions.' Moreover, mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) said, 'Record arrangements have been made for cleanliness on the procession routes in all divisions and districts of Punjab.' A female pilgrim said, 'For the first time, Bibi Pak Daman and inner city security, cleanliness and other excellent arrangements were made.' They added, 'Very good and prompt arrangements were made for the provision of medical aid by Rescue 1122, Clinics on Wheels, and field hospitals.' They observed, 'Safe City cameras and drones continue to monitor the processions. Cyber patrolling is also being done for the first time.' The Pilgrims were of the view that in addition to procession routes, excellent food arrangements were also made. They noted, 'Very good security arrangements are made, religious rituals are performed in a safe environment.' They said, 'For the first time, same standard of all arrangements including security and cleanliness was seen in the entire province including the south, central and north.' They added, 'This is the first time that arrangements like big and central cities are made in small cities Visitors are coming to see.' Greater Israel agenda threat to stability of Pakistan: JI
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Deputy Chief Dr Osama Razi has warned that the "Greater Israel" agenda is a major threat to the stability of Pakistan and the wider Muslim world. He made the remarks while addressing a day-long party convention in Karachi's Gadap area on Monday evening, as part of a series of similar events held across the city. Dr Osama Razi pointed to US-backed Israeli aggression against Iran and India's hostility towards Pakistan as examples of this broader agenda. He said both military campaigns failed in their objectives by the grace of Allah Almighty, but emphasized that the underlying threat remains. He noted that regional geopolitics is now closely tied to domestic affairs, urging Islamic movements to remain alert and develop strategic responses in line with this reality. He also called on JI workers to strengthen their spiritual connection with Allah, calling it the only sustainable path in these challenging times. Dr Razi warned that a concerted effort was underway to destabilize Balochistan, comparing it to the events that led to the fall of East Pakistan. He also condemned Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza and criticized the lack of freedom to protest in Pakistan. 'Protests against Israeli genocide can be held in the British parliament and outside the Prime Minister's residence in London, but such voices are silenced in Islamabad—even within our own parliament,' he said. He reminded participants that Pakistan's Constitution clearly states that sovereignty belongs to Allah Almighty, and urged citizens to play their role in defending constitutional and Islamic values. JI Deputy Chief Dr Attaur Rehman, speaking at the same convention, described the Quran as a revolutionary guide against social injustice. He called for spiritual purification and reflection on Quranic teachings, saying that true peace would only come through an Islamic caliphate. JI Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Usman Farooq highlighted Karachi's worsening civic problems, including water shortages, power outages, broken infrastructure, and the burden of inflation and over-taxation. He urged citizens to raise their voices and support JI's rights movement. Ex-JI Southern Punjab Emir Rao Zafar passes away
LAHORE: Former Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Southern Punjab Rao Muhammad Zafar passed away. His funeral prayer was led by JI Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman at Jamia Al-Uloom in Multan. A large number of political, religious, and social figures attended the funeral. Among them were former JI Emir Sirajul Haq, JI Secretary General Ameerul Azeem, JI Vice Emir Liaqat Baloch, President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, JI Southern Punjab Emir Syed Zeeshan Akhtar, JI Multan Emir Sohaib Ammar Siddiqui, President Alkhidmat Foundation South Punjab Ahmad Ammar Yasir, President Alkhidmat Central Punjab Ikram ul Haq Subhani, JI Deputy Secretary General Azhar Iqbal Hassan, Mian Maqsood Ahmed, JI Islamabad Emir Nasrullah Randhawa, JI Central Punjab Vice Emir Nasrullah Goraya, JI North Punjab Emir Dr Tariq Saleem, and IJT Pakistan Nazim Hassan Bilal Hashmi. 'He was outspoken and firm in expressing his opinion,' Rehman said, 'but once a decision was made by the party leadership, he always prioritized discipline over personal opinion.' The JI chief noted that Rao Zafar faced his illness with admirable patience and was consistently grateful to Allah.
