Here are all the EVs that are set to get more expensive now that the 'Big Beautiful Bill' has passed
President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" is about to make EVs even more expensive. On Thursday, the US House of Representatives passed Trump's tax and spending bill, and in doing so, killed the $7,500 tax credit for new, US-made electric vehicles. Trump signed the bill into law on Friday, meaning that the tax incentive will end on September 30th. Auto industry experts have previously warned that removing the $7,500 credit will make EVs even more unaffordable, and there are already signs that some automakers are starting to adjust their prices. Jeff Bezos-backed EV startup Slate Auto quietly removed the "under $20,000" expected price tag for its upcoming electric pickup truck from its website this week. The company had previously said it expected the customizable pickup to qualify for federal tax incentives. 20 electric and hybrid vehicles currently benefit from the $7,500 tax credit, according to the US Department of Energy's website — but for buyers looking to snap them up before the discount goes away, there are a couple of important caveats. For starters, not every version of those vehicles meets the criteria for the tax incentive. Some are limited to specific model years and trims. For example, only the 2026 version of the Hyundai IONIQ 9 qualifies for the tax credit. There is also a max retail price limit of $80,000 for vans, SUVs, and pickups, and $55,000 for all other vehicles. In addition, the credit is only available to buyers with an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less, although the limit extends to $300,000 for married couples filing jointly and $225,000 for heads of households. There is also a separate federal tax credit of up to $4,000 for used EVs and hybrids, which applies to a much wider range of vehicles, but that will also come to an end in September once Trump signs the bill into law. Court documents show that just after 11 p.m., John Anthony Hampton, 41, and Barbara Grace Singleton, 26, were pulled over on I-15 near Toquerville Saturday. The two were allegedly speeding in a Mercedes-Benz when a Utah Highway Patrol trooper began following them. As the trooper reduced his speed, the Mercedes-Benz did as well, prompting the officer to pull them over both for speeding and failing to yield to faster traffic. According to police, the rear passenger of the car was identified as a missing juvenile out of Nevada. Police also found messages on the suspects' phones about how much money the juvenile would make for 'turning tricks.' 6 Utah cities ranked among the best 250 places to live in the U.S. — and Salt Lake didn't make the cut After searching the car, the officer found 'clothes resembling that of a prostitute,' documents show. West Jordan man charged with kidnapping in physical dispute over missing dog
WEST JORDAN, Utah () — A West Jordan man has been charged with first-degree felony aggravated assault after he allegedly restrained another man and stripped him down to his underwear while accusing him of stealing his dog. According to charging documents, the suspect, identified as Jadon Randy Jones, 23, and several others confronted the victim during a house party on May 18, claiming the victim's friends stole his dog. The victim told officers that he was pulled down to the ground and stripped down to his underwear during the confrontation. Jones, along with the other unidentified suspects, was reportedly being 'extremely aggressive' toward the victim and allegedly punched him several times. One witness reported hearing Jones exclaim, 'I'm not trying to hurt you. I just want my dog back.' Billy Joel cancels touring after being diagnosed with a brain disorder Charging documents say the scene only began to calm down when a friend of the victim intervened. Afterward, everyone involved in the alleged assault fled before police could arrive. Jones reportedly told investigators that the victim and his friends had been asking about the dogs, including about buying them from Jones. Jones said the dogs were not for sale, but later found his dog was missing and the victim's friends had left. Jones told police he didn't believe that the victim had stolen the dog, but wanted him to call his friends back to the house. According to charging documents, Jones allegedly admitted to confronting the victim and restraining him but denied hitting him. He claims several other suspects were around, hitting the victim and attempting to blindfold him with his own t-shirt. Jones told investigators he did not know who the other suspects were and claimed he tried to tell the others to stop. Jones has been ordered to be held on a $5,000 bail, pending a pretrial hearing. Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
