Rinku Singh set to be appointed as Basic Education Officer in Uttar Pradesh; What's BSA? Know eligibility, salary & more

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to be appointed as a Basic Education Officer (BSA) in Uttar Pradesh. The development comes in after Rinku got engaged with Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj recently. Based on a Dainik Jagran report, a notification has already been issues by the Director of Basic Education in the state with his paperwork underway. The appointment of Rinku as a BSA is a reward to his contributions to cricket over the last few years. After grabbing the limelight in IPL 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rinku went on to represent the Indian team. He was also a part of the Indian team that won gold medal at the Asia Games in Hangzhou, China. Notably, the position of BSA is solely reserved for athletes who have made the country proud at the international level. Rinku's appointment also aligns with the state's policy to include individuals from sports into public service roles. However, his appointment has raised a few eyebrows, especially in regards to his educational qualification. According to a ETV Bharat report, Rinku failed in the ninth grade and didn't study after that. Instead he gave his all for cricket. A BSA acts as a government's representative in the area of basic education and works as a district level. It is a Group B (Gazetted) post and is common in all the state governments. Candidates, who fall in the age bracket of 21 to 40 years in the year of examination, are eligible for the post of a BSA. The basic education required for the post of BSA is graduation in any discipline from any recognised university or institution. The candidates for the post of a BSA are selected by State Public Service Commission (State PSCs) of the concerned state. Despite not having educational qualification by his side, Rinku was appointed as a BSA on under the International Medal Winner Direct Recruitment Rules 2022. Rinku's involvement in the gold medal-winning triumphant Indian cricket team at the 2022 Asian Games, makes him eligible under the scheme. According to a News18 report, Rinku might draw a salary of around ₹ 56000 per month, which may increase with experience and annual increments. Additionally, he will receive 46% Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Travel Allowance, and several other benefits.

India Vs England: Sai Sudharsan Emulates WV Raman, Levels 37-Year-Old Record

Last Updated: Sai Sudharsan has become India's 317th Test cap, debuting against England after a stellar IPL 2025. Star India batter Sai Sudharsan on Friday became the country's 317th Test cap, as he received his Baggy Blue from Cheteshwar Pujara ahead of the first Test against England in Leeds, in what is expected to be his big foot forward into international cricket, after a purple-cap-winning campaign in IPL 2025. Although multiple experts have touted Sudharsan as an all-format player for India, his first-class numbers aren't at the greatest level yet compared to most other top-order batters who made their Test debuts for India. Notably, Sudharsan is making his Test debut with a first-class average of 39.93, becoming just the second top-order Indian batter since WV Raman, also from Tamil Nadu, back in 1988, to make a debut in the longest format with an average below 40. Sudharsan was a breakout talent from TNPL who was fast-tracked into Tamil Nadu's teams across formats and is remembered for his 47-ball 96 in the IPL 2023 final against the Chennai Super Kings. Sudharsan made his first-class debut in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, against Hyderabad in December. He made a starry debut, scoring 179 and 42 in the two innings to play a match-winning role in that game for his team. Sudharsan finished that season as the second-highest run-scorer for Tamil Nadu, with 572 runs in seven matches at an average of 47.66 and two hundreds to his name. Sudharsan's last first-class appearance came against Vidarbha in the quarterfinal of the recent Ranji Trophy, but he scored just seven and two in both innings. Sudharsan currently has 1957 runs from 29 matches with seven hundreds to his name, besides five half-centuries. Notably, on his Test debut against the Windies at his home ground in Chennai in January 1988, Raman batted at 4 in the first innings and could score just nine runs. In the second innings, he batted at 3, the same position where Sudharsan is supposed to bat, and scored a crucial 83 off 205 balls. Raman's knock included a 33-run partnership with Kris Srikkanth, an 87-run stand with Mohammad Azharuddin and a 61-run partnership with Ajay Sharma, before his knock was ended by Courtney Walsh. India went on to win the match by 255 runs, riding on Kapil Dev's first-innings century, Narendra Hirwani's 16-wicket haul across both innings. Sai Sudharsan emulates Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid Notably, Sudharsan will be making his Test debut on the same day as ace India batter Kohli and former captains Ganguly and Dravid, who also received their maiden Test cap on June 20. While Kohli made his Test debut against the Windies on June 20, 2011 in Kingston, Ganguly and Dravid played their first Test on the same day, also against England, on June 20, 1996 at the Lord's.

'I don't know how to play...': When Virat Kohli's admission left Jos Buttler stunned

Jos Buttler (left) and Virat Kohli (Screengrabs) England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler revealed an interesting chat he had with Virat Kohli during IPL 2023, which left him stunned after the Indian great admitted to having insecurities about his batting. Speaking on For the Love of Cricket, his new podcast with Stuart Broad, Buttler said Kohli's advice helped him tackle the burden of expectations. "In IPL 2022, I scored 863 runs. But Virat has got the record for most runs (973) in a season, which is phenomenal. I actually found the next season quite difficult — like, how do I live up to that? And we were training at the same time as RCB," he said. Jos Buttler Exclusive Interview: I owe Jayawardene for letting me open in T20 "I thought I'd just ask him a couple of questions. He had just finished his batting. The question was on how he manages expectations. There is more expectation on him than anyone in the world in cricket — like, one and a half billion people want him to score all the time. "He was so generous with his time. He was so helpful. He said maybe that one season was the best I will ever have. I need to accept that and not try to replicate it. I'm putting unnecessary pressure on myself. It's okay. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Our one of a kind Patented Cold Water Extraction Process Superior Ginseng Undo Life is going to be fine. It's going to work out," he added. "He then started talking about the insecurities he sometimes has about his own game. He said, 'Sometimes I pick up my bat and I feel like I don't know how to play.' "I was like — this guy is arguably the best player of our generation, especially in the white-ball format. I was so thankful for his time and grateful for his insights. "That's why I always say IPL is the best cricket academy in the world. You pick the brains of the legends. It helps you for the next six to twelve months," he said.
