QC gets ISO 37000:2021 for good governance
Tribune News Network Doha As part of its continuous efforts to strengthen institutional governance and adhere to international best practices, Qatar Charity (QC) has been awarded ISO 37000:2021 certification for organisational governance, becoming one of the first humanitarian organisations in the region to earn this prestigious accreditation. This achievement adds to an impressive list of international certifications previously obtained by the organisation, including ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 27001 for Information Security, ISO 31000 for Risk Management, ISO 37301 for Compliance Management, and ISO 18295-1 for Customer Contact Centres. These recognitions reflect Qatar Charity's commitment to applying global best practices across its administrative and operational systems. The ISO 37000 certification was granted following a rigorous auditing process conducted by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in inspection, certification, and auditing services. The certification process took place in two main phases: the first focused on evaluating the governance system's responsibilities, documentation accuracy, and policy clarity; the second assessed the effectiveness of implementation across the organisation's departments. The certificate was officially received by Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, Chief Governance and External Affairs Officer at QC, from Hossam Al-Rifai, Director of Bureau Veritas – Qatar Branch. In a statement on this occasion, Al-Ghamdi expressed pride in the achievement, noting that receiving the ISO 37000:2021 certification is the culmination of extensive efforts and a strategic direction undertaken by the organisation to establish and implement an integrated governance framework. He emphasised that the certification is not merely a goal, but a reflection of Qatar Charity's ongoing institutional maturity and its commitment to continuous improvement in the service of humanitarian work. Qatar Charity has prioritised building a robust and comprehensive governance environment—one that ensures the integration of administrative, oversight, audit, and evaluation roles. This enables informed decision-making, enhances the efficient use of resources, and supports the achievement of long-term developmental impact. Notably, ISO 37000:2021 is the world's first international benchmark for the governance of organisations. It serves as a guiding standard for institutions that uphold the values of integrity, transparency, and social responsibility, while achieving a balance between stakeholder interests and sound administrative systems. The certification holds particular value for non-profit organisations, empowering them to strengthen credibility and accountability both internally and externally, increase development impact, and ensure sustainable, scalable practices.

Sharjah Municipality qualified 23 staff members as ISO auditors
Developing capabilities for institutional excellence Bodour Al Hammadi, Director of the Institutional Development Department, acknowledged that the workshops are part of the municipality's strategic objective to improve human capital and build internal teams. The goal is to attain the highest quality standards and institutional accreditation by empowering staff to discover internal improvement opportunities and execute best practices. A dedicated audit team was constituted from diverse departments to ensure institutional excellence in accordance with worldwide quality standards. Comprehensive training She stated that the programme consisted of four intensive workshops spread over four weeks. These courses introduced attendees to major ISO standards such as ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), ISO 31000 (Risk Management), and ISO 9001. The training also included practical workshops on internal audit systems that were in line with these criteria. Developing deep understanding and audit capability Al Hammadi noted that the courses enhanced employees' awareness of ISO requirements and improved their capacity to conduct effective internal audits. We expect this to enhance institutional performance and ensure continuous compliance with international standards. As a result, participants obtained internal auditor certifications for the applicable ISO standards in business continuity, health and safety, risk management, and quality.
