Ranking every Big Ten football 2026 recruiting class by average player rating (July 6)
The class of 2026 recruiting rankings continue to finalize with each passing week. With the June official visit schedule now complete, most programs have the core of their class committed. Commitments over the coming months will slow to a trickle, those updates only mildly affecting the overall team rankings. Those rankings did receive a major shift earlier this week when Oregon added five-star interior offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho. Iheanacho is the Ducks' third five-star commitment in the class. His addition sent the Ducks' relatively small class of 14 commitments up near the nation's top 10. When the cycle concludes later this year, none should be surprised if Oregon approaches the top five. Notably, Oregon currently boasts the Big Ten's best average player rating (93.15). While different from 247Sports' national team rankings, which give significant weight to commit volume, average player rating is an important metric to use when comparing the conference's top-ranked groups. With that, here is Oregon, Wisconsin and every Big Ten recruiting class of 2026 ordered by average player rating, plus where each falls on 247Sports' current national team rankings. Oregon Ducks make leap in rankings after Immanuel Iheanacho, Devin Jackson commitments
Oregon Duck fans were expecting some recruiting fireworks over the 4th of July weekend, but it appears they may be coming before the holiday starts. On Thursday morning, Dan Lanning's Ducks got a pair of significant commitments, kicked off by the addition of 4-star safety Devin Jackson, the No. 213 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 18 safety. Standing at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Jackson is a rangy safety who is expected to play deep or in the slot at the college level, which gives the Ducks some nice versatility in the 2026 class, seeing as they don't yet have a cornerback committed. After the addition of Jackson, 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho announced his commitment to Oregon on ESPN's 'Pat McAfee Show,' choosing the Ducks over Penn State, Maryland, and Auburn. Iheanacho is rated as the No. 8 overall player in the class, per the 247Sports Composite. At 6-foot-6, 345 pounds, Iheanacho is a prototypical OT with a high upside going forward, giving the Ducks their next elite LT prospect following in the wake of Josh Conerly Jr., who was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders earlier this year. With the addition of these two players, the Ducks made a significant move in the 2026 recruiting rankings, jumping into the top 10 once again. The Ducks had the No. 17 class coming into the day after adding 4-star IOL Tommy Tofi on Wednesday, but now they sit at No. 10, jumping over the likes of Florida State, Penn State, LSU, Texas, and Tennessee. There are a couple of other major prospects remaining on the Ducks' recruiting board who will announce in the next couple of weeks, but this was a massive win for Oregon to kick off July. Where 5-Star Immanuel Iheanacho ranks among Oregon's all-time highest-rated commits
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks scored a massive victory on the recruiting trail on Thursday, getting a commitment from 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho, the third 5-star player they've added to the 2026 class. Iheanacho stands at 6-foot-6, 345 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 8 player in the 2026 class. With the addition of Iheanacho, Oregon jumped up to No. 10 in the recruiting rankings for this cycle, and there's a belief that they will continue to climb quickly with more top-ranked players coming off the board shortly. What's more interesting to note, though, is where Iheanahco ranks among the top players and top offensive linemen to ever commit to the Ducks. Here's a look at where he stands when it comes to the best offensive linemen ever to join Oregon: No. 5 — Jonah Tauanu'u (4-star, 95) — Class of 2019 No. 4 — Penei Sewell(4-star, 0.9709) — Class of 2018 No. 3 — Kingsley Tuamataia (4-star, 0.9823) — Class of 2021 No. 2 — Josh Conerly (5-star, 0.9918) — Class of 2022 No. 1 — Immanuel Iheanacho (5-star, 0.9963) — Class of 2026 While Iheanacho standing among the top OTs in Oregon history is elite, he will also go down as one of the top-ranked overall players to commit to the Ducks. When looking at those rankings, two things stand out at first glance: One, Oregon's 2025 class was loaded at the top, with 5-star Dakorien Moore (No. 2 all-time), 5-star Na'eem Offord (No. 8 all-time), and 5-star Trey McNutt (No. 17 all-time) in the class. Second, Oregon's 2026 class is stacking up nicely, with Iheanacho, Kendre Harrison, and Jett Washington ranking as the No. 4, No. 14, and No. 16 all-time recruits for the Ducks. Oregon Ducks land commitment from 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho
If you listen closely, you might be able to hear champagne corks popping in the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex. Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks scored their most significant recruiting victory of the cycle on Thursday, getting a commitment from 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, the No. 8-ranked player in the 2026 class. Iheanacho chose Oregon over the likes of the Penn State Nittany Lions, LSU Tigers, and Auburn Tigers. Ultimately, the commitment does not come as a major surprise. For a couple of months now, Iheanacho has said that Oregon was the No. 1 team on his board, and multiple predictions have come down for him to choose the Ducks. The timing of the commitment, however, was up in the air. Iheanacho was originally scheduled to announce his commitment on August 5, but there was some speculation that he could push that up to July 4 and announce on the holiday. After word leaked that he was pushing his date up to the 4th of July, Iheanacho announced on Thursday that he would be committing on ESPN on July 3. No matter when it happened, what matters is that Iheanacho is a Duck, and Oregon scored one of the biggest recruiting wins of the Dan Lanning era with his addition.
