Did You Know War 2's 'India First' Oath Is Co-Written By YRF Head Aditya Chopra?

Last Updated: Yash Raj Films released the War 2 trailer, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film's India First oath was co-written by producer Aditya Chopra. War 2 Movie Update: Yash Raj Films has released the trailer for the most anticipated Indian movie of the year, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, who engage in a fierce and relentless battle. The trailer went viral in no time, featuring superstars from both North and South. One of the key moments from the trailer was the oath taken by Hrithik and NTR, pledging to save India at any cost. For the unversed, it was written by both Aditya Chopra and Shridhar Raghavan, the head writer of the YRF Spy Universe franchise. Kiara Advani plays the female lead. Shridhar Raghavan revealed that YRF head Aditya Chopra had a clear idea in mind before penning the oath. He revealed, 'Adi was clear that no plot points of War 2 should be revealed in the trailer. So, we created a fictional oath for agents during their induction into covert task forces, as they prepare to sacrifice everything to protect our motherland. This oath reflects the intense, dramatic story of the film. With War 2 and each film, we reveal more about the shadowy world of the YRF Spy Universe—who these agents are, what links them, and their origin stories." He added, 'As the trailer shows, Hrithik and NTR are mirror images, extraordinary and ferocious soldiers bound by duty to protect India. But why are they battling each other? What twist of destiny has set them on this explosive collision course? The idea was to build intrigue around this." Shridhar further elaborated on the 'India First' element mentioned in the trailer. 'INDIA FIRST has always been the driving force for every agent in the Spy Universe, binding them together. We clearly articulate it as a motto here because it plays a crucial role in War 2. It is the heart and soul of the film. From now on, India First will be the war cry of every agent in the YRF Spy Universe," he said. The YRF Spy Universe oath The YRF spy universe oath, said by Hrithik Roshan, at the start of War 2 trailer, can be read: 'Main shapath leta hun – Ki main apna naam, apni pehchaan, apna ghar, parivaar sab tyaag kar ek saaya ban jaunga. Ek gumnaam… benaam… anjaan saaya. Main shapath leta hun – Main woh sab karunga… jo koi aur nahin kar sakta. Jo jung koi nahin lad sakta… woh main ladunga. Har dost, har saathi, har us chehre se munh mod lunga jise kabhi pyaar kiya. Aur palat kar kabhi peeche nahin dekhunga. Achai burai, sahi galat, paap punya ki har lakeer ko mita dunga. Main woh balidaan dunga jiska koi gawaah nahin hoga. Jiski keemat main apni jaan se… ya phir apni aatma se chukaunga. Ab main insaan nahin sirf ek hathyar hun… Jung ka hathyar ya to maarunga ya phir marunga. Death Before Dishonour. Service Before Self. India First. YRF is celebrating 25 years of cinematic legacy with Hrithik Roshan, NTR and Kiara Advani through War 2 promotions. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this YRF Spy Universe film is set to release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on August 14, 2025 worldwide. War 2 trailer review: Style, swag and jarring bikini moment in Hrithik-Jr NTR's film

The trailer for 'War 2' makes one thing clear right from the start: this film is all about the clash between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. It's high on VFX, filled with stunning visuals and striking glamour, but also with a lot of whys. Why does it all feel so familiar? Why does it already seem like an overdose of everything - action, drama and spectacle? And why are we looking at an Indian Air Force officer being paraded in a bikini? Most importantly, why are we still excited about this?advertisement'War 2' is a part of YRF's growing spy universe. It has everything to make it a big-ticket entertainer: scale, ambition, and visual appeal. The trailer does justice to it. But, something doesn't add up in the middle of all that trailer, right from the first scene, builds towards that one epic showdown - Hrithik vs Jr NTR. It sets the stage for a high-stakes battle, closely inspired by the Mahabharata-like moral complexities, where warriors from the same ideological family find themselves on opposing sides. As the trailer suggests, both Roshan and NTR play soldiers who are at loggerheads. These are soldiers shaped by different beliefs of what 'India First' means, and they seem willing to sacrifice everything - their pasts, futures, even themselves - to fight that one defining battle. Visually, 'War 2' looks stylish from the word go. But are we in for a film that's all style and little substance? The trailer hints at a tone that feels at odds with the dignity associated with India's armed forces. The glamour, while cinematic, risks undermining the depth expected from the genre. Reducing an Indian Air Force officer to an object of gaze in a shiny bikini feels both jarring and spy genre is not just about action set pieces and larger-than-life appeal. It's also, and in fact, more importantly, meant to grip, thrill and reflect by offering stories that are as layered as they are entertaining. It's a genre that can pay tribute to the silent, mostly unglamorous, courage of intelligence and defence personnel. It can unfold on the screen to show you something you didn't know before, and at the same time, acts like a tribute to our armed forces. 'War 2', at least from its trailer, seems more invested in surface gloss than its emotional depth. Of course, it's too early to say whether 'War 2' will ultimately deliver on its promise. Trailers, you see, are only glimpses. But, it's not too late to observe that the film risks becoming a spectacle rather than a story. It seems to be chasing adrenaline over authenticity, and choosing scale all the way over everything the extra gloss might look great on screen, but it may not be what the story truly needs. Whether 'War 2' can balance its cinematic ambition with the weight of its genre is something we'll only know on August 14. The film is hitting the screens as the big Independence Day release this year, and is directed by Ayan also features Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, Anil Kapoor, Shabir Ahluwalia in important roles.- EndsMust Watch IN THIS STORY#Hrithik Roshan#Kiara Advani
