Indosol Solar seeks to tap into govt support, eyes 10GW capacity by 2026
Indosol Solar Ltd, a key player in India's solar manufacturing sector, is setting ambitious goals for growth, with plans in the works for a capacity of 10 gigawatts by 2026, leveraging government incentives designed to promote domestic production, news agency Bloomberg reported on July 23. Currently, Indosol operates a 500-megawatt solar module line in Andhra Pradesh, which is set to double in capacity by the end of this year, Bloomberg's report said quoting Chief Operating Officer Balachander Krishnan. The Indian solar manufacturing landscape is undergoing significant transformation, spurred by Modi government's initiative to reduce reliance on imports and enhance local production of clean energy technologies. This shift is particularly crucial as the market has been heavily dominated by China, which controls essential technologies necessary for scaling up India's solar production capabilities. Indosol is optimistic about the future, with plans to expand its production lines from ingots to modules by the end of 2024. Krishnan highlighted that the company has already made substantial progress in securing necessary equipment from Linton Technologies Group, a Chinese firm with operations in Vietnam. This development aims to ease concerns regarding technology access that have previously hindered India's solar ambitions. As Indosol moves forward, it is also in advanced discussions with potential investors. These talks could lead to a partnership, possibly including an offtake arrangement, and are expected to be finalised within the next three months. However, Krishnan refrained from providing specific details about the negotiations. Meanwhile, Indosol's larger competitor, Reliance Industries Ltd., has announced plans for its clean energy gigafactories to commence operations next year. Reliance is also on the lookout for investors to support its expansion in the renewable energy sector.

Naidu-led NDA pushed AP into debt trap, says YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy VIJAYAWADA: Lashing out at Naidu-led NDA regime, former chief minister and YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said the govt has pushed the state into debt trap. He said that the Naidu regime incurred debts of ₹1,75,112 crore in a span of just one year. Surprisingly, Naidu could not implement even a single promise made by him before the elections. Speaking to media here on Wednesday, Jagan said that they took around ₹3,32,671 crore during the five-year rule. He said that they have continued welfare schemes despite finances being reeled due to two years of COVID. 'Naidu govt made 52.34% of the debt we took over 5 years. He has not implemented even a single scheme in the last 14 months. Where did all this money go? Who benefited?' Jagan questioned. He wondered that Naidu is expecting that no one should question him despite deceiving people. He charged that the govt burdened people with ₹18,272 crore in electricity charges under the guise of Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA), a form of exploitation. He said that Amul is facing losses, while Heritage is making profits thanks to the Naidu's policies. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What Homeowners Should Know About Air Conditioners in 2025 asklayers Learn More Undo He said that milk prices have risen, children's fees have increased, and Nadu-Nedu works have stalled. Still, Naidu wanted that no one should speak up. 'Privatization of new medical colleges, sale of ports, fish landing centers, soil mafia, sand scams—nobody should talk about these. Construction costs have been inflated, with payments of nearly ₹10,000 per sft. They give 10% mobilization advances and take 8% kickbacks. Land is being given to unknown companies. Yet, no one should speak or question. Even when PPAs are signed at inflated prices, don't ask has become Naidu's policy,' said Jagan. He deplored that rapes against girls have increased and govt exerting pressure on the opposition not to speak. Jagan vowed to stand with the people and fight for them. 'We're not afraid of cases. A warning to Naidu and his supporters: We won't spare anyone. We'll repay with interest. In three years, our government will return,' said Jagan. He said that YSRCP govt allocated land to Indosol, who paid farmers and promised 8,000 jobs. Naidu govt shifted the land allotment to Kareddu, where farmers refuse to give up fertile double-crop land. 'The company is investing ₹42,000 crore. Do you want industries to come or not? If BPCL needs land, there are thousands of acres of government land in Prakasam district. Why give Indosol's land to them?' asked Jagan.

Farmers block NH-16 demanding halt to forcible land acquisition for solar project in Nellore district
Vijayawada: An angry protest by the farmers of Karedu village in Ulavapadu mandal, Nellore district, brought traffic on National Highway-16 (Chennai-Kolkata) to a grinding halt on Sunday. The farmers have been demanding the immediate withdrawal of the forcible acquisition of their agricultural lands for setting up a private solar plant. About a thousand women, farmers, and tribal people from Karedu staged a half-hour road blockade on the highway, demanding a stop to the forced land acquisition and action against the Ulavapadu sub inspector for illegal arrests. As the protest escalated, Kandukur sub-collector Sripuja rushed to the spot and assured the farmers that the land acquisition process would be withheld following advice from the state government. The state government had issued a notification to acquire about 8,500 acres of land, mostly owned by SC, ST, and weaker sections in Karedu village. Meanwhile, the CPI (M) state committee strongly condemned the severe repression, intimidation, and illegal arrests of people protesting the forcible land acquisition for Indosol company. The committee demanded the immediate withdrawal of the land acquisition proposal by the state government. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? IC Markets Mendaftar Undo CPI(M) also demanded an investigation into the TDP, BJP and Janasena coalition, which had earlier labelled the proposed land allocation as a major scam during the previous YSRCP tenure. Speaking to the media on Sunday, CPI (M) state secretary V Srinivasa Rao questioned how the NDA government is facilitating land allocation to the same company it opposed while in opposition. He said people have formed a committee to fight against the forcible land acquisition for the solar company and launched a peaceful agitation. However, the government used the police force to suppress the agitators. He criticized the forcible acquisition of lands owned by Dalits, tribals, and other marginalized sections for Indosol, a subsidiary of Shirdi Sai Electricals. He condemned the arrest of protestors, including women, who called for a blockade of NH-16. "It is deplorable that the police arrested women for raising their voice against forcible acquisition," said Srinivasa Rao. Local farmers leader Miriyam Srinivasulu, CPI(M) leaders Talluri Malyadri, G. Venkateswarlu, G.V.B. Kumar, AAP Kandukuru constituency convener Neti Maheshwara Rao, AICC member Sunkara Padmashri, social activist Dr. K. Vasundhara, and 26 farmers from Karedu and Peddapallipalem were among those arrested by the police. The CPI (M) state committee demanded action against the sub inspector who mistreated Sunkara Padmasri and Neti Maheshwara Rao.
