‘Any Car I've Ever Owned:' Mechanics Reveal Which Cars ‘Look Fast' But Actually Aren't
The mechanics at Aeschbach Automotive reveal what cars they believe appear faster than they actually are. The Facebook post went viral, generating 2.3 million views as of this writing. What Cars Did These Mechanics Reveal 'Look Fast' But Actually Aren't? In the post, each mechanic shared their answer of which car looks fast but isn't. According to the mechanics at Aeschbach Automotive , these are the cars that 'look fast' but actually aren't: Infiniti G37 Mazda Miata Honda Del Sol While each mechanic made jabs at certain models, not everyone agreed with the Infiniti G37 take that two mechanics gave. How Do You Measure How Fast a Car Is? The zero-to-60 acceleration test can be used when evaluating a car's speed. This test became the easy-to-understand standard for measuring acceleration speed, according to experts on Quora . The test measures how fast the car can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour, which is recorded in seconds. Car enthusiasts on Car Throttle shared that anything under five seconds for a zero-to-60 test is very fast, and anything under seven can be considered fast. Should the Infiniti G37 Be Included in the List? Two of the mechanics believe the Infiniti G37 is slow. These comments created some disagreement among viewers. 'G37/370z is actually the fastest vehicle in the class, there's no car in the same category that's faster than these cars,' one Facebook commenter claimed. 'G37 for its day was pretty quick,' another chimed in. 'The G37 Red Sport made 348 hp, so it is not slow,' a third added. According to Zero To 60 Times , the 2008-2010 Infiniti G37 models scored between 5.2 and 5.4 seconds. With 11 G37 models scoring under six, these cars can be considered fast. 'Calling a 6-second 0-60 stock car slow when it's only worth maybe 10 thousand flat used is crazy work,' one commenter said. Is the Mazda Miata Actually Fast? The Mazda Miata debuted in 1990, according to Mazda . Taking this into account, there are 25 years of models to analyze for the zero-to-60 to 60 acceleration test. The mechanic in the video did not specify what year he chose. According to Zero To 60 Times , the Miata score ranges from 3.8-9.0 seconds from 1990-2025 models. The slowest time was its debut 1990 model, and the fastest was the 2016 Flyin' Miata MX-5 Miata, equipped with an aftermarket V-8. When looking at these scores, it's clear that speed varies based on the year and model. While the mechanic may have been referring to older, slower models, to give a blanket statement that the Miata is slow is not quite fair. Is the Honda Del Sol Slow? The Honda Del Sol entered the U.S. market in 1992 and was in production for only five years, according to MotorTrend . This uncommon car was Honda's response to the loyal following the Mazda Miata achieved. The Miata and Del Sol were often compared to each other, so it feels appropriate to include them here. In terms of speed, the Del Sol clocked a zero-to-60 time of 7.4 seconds. The Miata models from the mid-90s clocked an average of 8.6, giving the Del Sol the edge. 15-year-old boy sitting at bus stop killed in Long Beach crash
A 15-year-old boy sitting at a bus stop was killed after being struck by a car in Long Beach. On June 11, Long Beach police responded to a crash at Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street shortly before 3 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it ran a red light at the Palo Verde Avenue intersection. The Infiniti struck a Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue. The impact caused the Infiniti sedan to overturn. The car skidded onto a sidewalk and struck the 15-year-old boy who was sitting at the bus stop. The boy was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The Infiniti driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition and the Prius driver was uninjured. 'At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision,' police said. The 15-year-old boy's identity was not released. The fatal crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call LBPD Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Hit-and-run driver mows down 55-year-old man crossing Brooklyn street
A hit-and-run driver killed a 55-year-old man crossing a Brooklyn street early Saturday, police said. It was one of two fatal crashes to take place Saturday morning in the five boroughs, police said. The victim was crossing Washington Ave. at Fulton St. in Clinton Hill about 12:20 a.m. when a burgundy-colored Ford Explorer heading west on Fulton St. rammed into him, cops said. The driver of the Ford Explorer sped off without stopping, stunned witnesses told police. EMS rushed the victim to New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, but he couldn't be saved. The man's name was not immediately released as cops tracked down family members. No arrests have been made. In an unrelated incident about an hour after the Clinton Hill crash, a 22-year-old driver died when his Infiniti G37 veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into a parked city sanitation truck in Queens, cops said. The motorist was heading north on Douglaston Parkway outside Alley Pond Park in Bayside about 1:45 a.m. when he listed into the southbound lane — straight into the front of an unoccupied city sanitation truck outside the city Department of Sanitation's Queens garage. He died at the scene. His name was not immediately released. No other cars were involved in the crash, cops said. Saturday's crash in Brooklyn was the second fatal hit-and-run in the borough in a week, cops said. On May 10, Larry Maxwell was crossing the street outside his longtime home in Brownsville's Langston Hughes Houses to attend a family event at the nearby Dr. Green Playground when he was struck by a driver fleeing a fender-bender. The driver has not been caught, cops said. The city has seen a 19% decrease in fatal crashes this year, although the number of pedestrians killed by motor vehicles have increased slightly, cops said. As of Thursday, cops have investigated 40 fatal pedestrian crashes — two more than this time last year, according to police.

A 19-year-old from Gainesville was charged with killing his passenger while driving recklessly and crashing on Aviation Boulevard. The deadly crash happened on April 24. Gainesville police said Jose Ruben Acosta Turcios was driving his Infiniti G37 at a high speed when he lost control and hit multiple fixed objects, flipping his car. His passenger, Paquito Turcios Galvez, 35, died. According to police, Turcios 'willfully hindered the investigation by fabricating information surrounding the details of the crash.' The teenager was charged with homicide by vehicle, obstruction, reckless driving, racing, failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions and driving on the wrong side of the road. Jail records show he was arrested on Tuesday and was given a $3,670 bond.
