Buc-ee's, a Pit Stop to Refuel Cars, Stomachs and Souls, Spreads Beyond Texas
On practically any other day, the acres of pavement would have had more than enough room for anyone needing a parking spot. Not on this one. Hundreds of vehicles pulling off Interstate 10 last Monday morning circled the giant lot. Television crews had come from hours away. Some people had even camped out overnight, aiming to be the first customers when the doors were unlocked and the gas pumps went online at 6 a.m. This wasn't just any gas station and convenience store. A Buc-ee's was opening in Mississippi. 'We fell in love!' said Diane S. Carter, who was celebrating her 35th wedding anniversary but was referring to her and her husband's passion for Buc-ee's, so strong that they had driven nearly three hours and secured a hotel room in Biloxi to be there for the opening. Parts of eastbound I-10 will be closed on Mother's Day weekend. What to know
A portion of eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed this Mother's Day weekend for electrical work. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, 1-10 east will close between State Route 143 and U.S. 60. The closure will be in effect late Friday, May 9, until Saturday night, May 10. The following ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. on May 9 until 10 p.m. on May 10. Southbound I-17 ramp to eastbound I-10 Southbound SR 143 high occupancy vehicle (HOV) ramp to eastbound I-10 These additional ramp closures will begin two hours earlier and are scheduled to reopen at 10 p.m. on May 10. Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 24th, 32nd and 40th streets Northbound 48th Street between Broadway Road and I-10 Eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road According to ADOT, to reach eastbound I-10 beyond the closures, drivers should take northbound SR 143 to eastbound Loop 202, then continue to southbound Loop 101 and follow either westbound U.S. 60 or Loop 202. FHP: Rollover collision on I-10 in Tallahassee leaves 1 dead, 3 'trauma alerts'
A fatal wreck on Interstate 10 in northeast Tallahassee has left one person dead, three people in critical condition and one person seriously injured, according to a preliminary report by the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP's Cpl. P.J. Shaw said the accident involved two vehicles with a rollover at about 8:45 p.m. Friday and has closed all westbound lanes at mile marker 205 and traffic is backed up in both directions.
