Colorado DUI crash survivor motivates others after overcoming the odds; "Never lose hope"

Nearly 10 years after a Castle Rock teen's life was changed by a car crash, he's sharing his story of endurance and hopes to inspire others. CBS Colorado visited a local high school and sat down with Jackson Davis to learn more about what the last decade of his recovery has looked like. In October 2015, Jackson, a recent Douglas County High School graduate, was poised to chase his dream of becoming a U.S. Marine. "We drove all the way from Colorado to MCRD, which is in San Diego, where I would have graduated boot camp," Jackon said. On their way home from California, Jackson and his dad, Timothy, passed Pueblo on the evening of Oct. 18 and encountered a road rage driver on Interstate 25. "I remember I was driving, and my dad was sitting next to me," Jackson said. "My dad is like, 'Look at this lady. She's acting crazy.'" Suddenly, the car struck them, causing their vehicle to flip and crash into the guardrail. "We were flipping and rolling. It was bad," Timothy explained. "He's going through a hard time. He's screaming, and I'm trying to calm him down." "I just remember being in a lot of pain," Jackson said. First responders used the Jaws of Life to extract Jackson from the car. "It's a miracle," Jackson's father said. "The Lord really did send his angels." Jackson was rushed to Penrose ICU, where he stayed for more than a week in a medically induced coma. His family was told he may lose his legs, or never wake up. "As a parent, it's very hard, and it's difficult," Timothy said. "So that's where you spend a lot of time. I was on my knees, talking to the Lord. Jackson's father had previously had his own experience with traumatic brain injury from a crash. When Jackson did wake up, he was transferred to Craig Hospital, where he spent months recovering from a traumatic brain injury and a shattered body. "I broke both of my legs. I shattered my pelvis. This is where the guardrail went through my arm," Jackson said, gesturing to a scar. He has many scars, plus rods and screws in his body to remind him of the crash. Jackson's dream of becoming a Marine was gone in an instant. "My whole goal was to go be like my father and going to Marine Corps. That was just taken from me in an instant, in a blink of an eye," Jackson said. "When I was in the hospital, I didn't really believe in God because I kept questioning, 'Why would he do this to me?'" The driver who hit Jackson pleaded guilty to reckless vehicular assault and DUI. She was sentenced to one year in jail, but Jackson says she only served six months. While Jackson and his father won personal injury judgments against the driver for nearly $9 million and $3 million each, they say she had no insurance, so they've seen very little of that money. "One thing I've learned throughout life is God chooses his strongest warriors to fight his hardest battles," Jackson said. "You're not forgiving for her; you're forgiving for yourself because you need yourself to get over that hard time in your life," Jackson said. "So that's how I was able to get over it." So through his faith, Jackson found the strength to forgive and to persevere. The teen who was told he might never walk has now competed in multiple Ironman triathlons and Spartan races. "Never listen to everyone that tells you no," Jackson said. "There were hundreds of people that told me no. I proved them wrong. I did an Ironman. I live a happy life. I'm married." Jackson now shares his experience online on a social media account called "Built to Endure 40." "The 40 stands for in the Bible, 40 days, 40 nights or 40 years," Jackson said. "You're built to endure anything throughout your life. You know, whether it's a traumatic brain injury like me, depression or anxiety, stuff like that." "I'm just proud, very, very proud of him and what he's doing and how he's helping others," Timothy said. "His faith is leading you through it, and that's, that's the great thing, and how this works. When something like this happens, you get to make a choice." Jackson primarily makes motivational videos, but he envisions "Built to Endure 40" eventually having an in-person location where people who are struggling can visit to find hope and community. "I'm willing to go in those deep, dark times in my life to help people, to inspire them to never lose hope," Jackson said. "I make videos to motivate people, to really let them know that they're never alone, and just when they're in that deep, dark time in their life. I want them to know that me and my community are there to help them in any struggle they have throughout their life."

Reedy Branch Equipment Discusses Buying the Best 8.5x20 Enclosed Trailer with Polycore Exterior

07/28/2025, Pearson, Ga // KISS PR Brand Story PressWire // Reedy Branch Equipment, a trusted name in cargo trailer sales, is offering guidance for customers looking to invest in one of the most reliable and long lasting trailer configurations available: the 8.5x20 enclosed trailer with a polycore exterior. With demand rising among contractors, haulers and mobile businesses, this specific build continues to stand out for its space, durability and finish. The company highlights Rock Solid Cargo as the brand of choice for customers who value dependable construction, long term performance and consistent build quality. Why the 8.5x20 Enclosed Trailer Stands Out The 8.5x20 size hits a sweet spot between capacity and maneuverability. It offers enough interior space for commercial equipment, motorcycles, side-by-sides, tools or custom mobile setups while staying manageable on the road. It is wide enough to accommodate larger loads without requiring a CDL for towing in most cases. According to Reedy Branch Equipment, the versatility of the 8.5x20 footprint makes it one of the most popular sizes they sell year after year. 'Whether you're hauling tools, running a mobile service or setting up a vendor booth, the 8.5x20 gives you flexibility without overkill,' said a company spokesperson. 'It's our go-to recommendation for businesses that need room to grow.' Understanding the 8.5x20 Enclosed Trailer Weight Trailer weight is a critical consideration for towing safety and efficiency. Typically, a Rock Solid Cargo 8.5x20 enclosed trailer weight when empty, is between 3,200 and 3,500 pounds. This number, also referred to as curb weight or dry weight, is essential when matching your trailer with the correct towing vehicle. When fully loaded, most 8.5x20 trailers can reach a gross vehicle weight rating of 7,000 to 10,400 pounds depending on the selected axle package. Reedy Branch Equipment advises customers to always check their vehicle's towing capacity before purchase to ensure safe and legal operation. Why Polycore Is the Upgrade That Lasts One of the most important exterior features Reedy Branch Equipment recommends is the polycore panel upgrade. Polycore panels are composite materials designed to outperform traditional aluminum exteriors in several key ways. • They resist UV damage and fading • They maintain a smooth clean look longer • They reduce surface chalking and require less maintenance over time For customers using their trailer as a mobile workspace or marketing asset, a polycore exterior keeps the unit looking professional and polished. It is especially beneficial in harsh climates where sun and moisture would otherwise degrade traditional finishes. 'Polycore is a long term win,' the company noted. 'It is durable, clean and adds resale value. Once customers see the difference, they rarely go back to standard aluminum panels.' Rock Solid Cargo: A Brand You Can Count On As a direct Rock Solid Cargo dealer, Reedy Branch Equipment emphasizes the importance of choosing a manufacturer with a proven track record. Rock Solid Cargo has built a national reputation for dependable trailers that hold up under daily use. Their steel frame construction, factory warranty and high attention to detail set them apart in the competitive trailer market. From structural integrity to customer service, the Rock Solid name carries weight among owners who depend on their equipment every day. 'Customers don't come to us for temporary solutions. They want something they can count on and Rock Solid Cargo delivers that every time,' the company stated. Choosing the Right Configuration Beyond size and materials, customers can customize their 8.5x20 trailer with ramp doors, side access, interior shelving, insulation and more. Reedy Branch Equipment helps each buyer assess their real-world needs and build out the right configuration before placing the order. Every detail matters, from flooring type to electrical packages, and the team ensures customers leave with a trailer ready for real use, not just showroom appeal. Serving Customers Nationwide Though based in southern Georgia, Reedy Branch Equipment serves customers across the country. With financing options and trailer delivery available, they help business owners, independent contractors and recreational buyers get exactly what they need no matter their location. Their inventory includes a wide range of enclosed trailers in different sizes, axle setups and trim levels all backed by service-focused support before and after the sale. Final Word from Reedy Branch Equipment When it comes to investing in a trailer that will stand up to daily use, the Reedy Branch Equipment 8.5x20 enclosed trailers with a polycore exterior check all the boxes. They are spacious, clean, durable and built to last. Combined with the quality standards of Rock Solid Cargo and the guidance from Reedy Branch Equipment, buyers can make a confident and informed decision with every purchase. ### Media Contact Reedy Branch Equipment Co., LLC Address: 522 Georgia Pacific Lane, Pearson, Ga 31642 Phone: (912) 422-7092 Email: [email protected] Contact Person: Michael Brown Website: newsroom: Source published by Submit Press Release >> Reedy Branch Equipment Discusses Buying the Best 8.5x20 Enclosed Trailer with Polycore Exterior
